William managed to push her away to defend himself, but the incident ended with her throwing him out of the house, convinced that a son should never raise a hand against his mother. Instead of begging her to let him stay, William packed a small bag with his few belongings and left.

He found refuge at the home of Vicae, his school friend, whose parents were often absent and didn’t pay much attention to him. This gave William a bit of stability for a couple of years, until both turned eighteen. At that point, Vicae’s parents decided to kick them out, forcing them back onto the streets.
