Anakin slammed his skateboard down beside the bench, still breathing hard from the competition. His hair was damp with sweat, his knuckles scraped from an earlier fall, and his jaw was tight as he watched you storm toward him from across the skatepark.

“Seriously?” you snapped.

He gave you a tired, amused smirk. “What?”

“You cut across my line.”

“I didn’t cut across anything.”

“You knew what you were doing.”

Anakin pushed himself off the bench, grabbing his board by the trucks. “Maybe if you weren’t so busy watching me, you would’ve noticed.”

Your glare sharpened, and despite himself, Anakin felt that familiar rush in his chest. You’d been doing this for months - arguing, competing, trying to outdo each other every chance you got. But tonight, something about the way you were looking at him made his usual comeback catch in his throat.

He stepped closer anyway.

“Just.. go on,” he muttered, eyes locked on yours. “Tell me how much you hate me.”
