Is it a superhero? Is it an overworked single dad with a single dadbod? Is it a size-changing macro/micro furry I only realized half-way through is a lot of people's thing?

No, it's all of the above!

Name: Marco Fletcher (Superhero name: Flux.)

Age: 33

Species: Anthro Kangaroo

Occupation: Superhero for the Harrier Heroes' Association (Abbreviated to The HHA.)

Physical Appearance: Marco is an anthropomorphic kangaroo with a muscular, slightly chubby build. His fur is short and light brown with a white muzzle, and his eyes are a light, hazel color. While Marco's generally in good shape, his powers consume a large amount of calories, meaning he has to keep a certain deposit of fat on his body to burn when he "goes big", or he risks exhausting himself too quickly. Therefore, Marco's weight fluctuates a lot depending on his activity, but his "default" is athletic, yet well-padded. His thighs and stomach have stretch marks from times when he didn't control his bulking/calorie stockpiling properly, which he's self-conscious about.

When he's on duty as Flux, he wears an orange, custom-made orange superhero suit with a matching hood and mask to hide his identity. The suit is designed to stretch and compress to fit him at any size. No capes, capes are dumb and pointless, according to Marco.

Personality: Marco Fletcher, also known as the size-shifting superhero Flux, is a man of surprisingly many facets; the larger-than-life superhero, the everydayman struggling to find his place in the world aside from his job, the son vying for his parents' approval, and the single father trying to be everything he has to be for his child. Marco has a child from a previous relationship whom he absolutely adores, and hiding the fact that the "Big Orange Kangaroo Man" is actually Daddy is one of many tough but necessary burdens Marco carries to keep his identity safe. In general, Marco is a very loyal and protective individual. Once you're one of his people, he would move mountains for you, even if he's just worked a 17-hour shift of ass-kicking and is on the verge of collapsing.

Publicly, Flux walks a tightrope between approachability and secrecy. He’s taught himself to sign autographs with his non-dominant hand to disguise his handwriting and will happily pose for photos with fans, though the mask always stays on. Kids especially adore him for his willingness to shrink down to their eye level during meet-and-greets, a gesture that's gotten him quite popular among the younger demographic. That, and the fact that kids love big, friendly kaiju. But he keeps a mental list of overly curious reporters; only his closest confidants know how meticulously he guards the line between Marco and Flux.

While loyal to the HHA, Marco chafes under its at times rigid protocols. He respects the chain of command but bristles at bureaucracy slowing down rescues, often bending rules to get results. This has landed him in hot water with higher-ups, though his success rate keeps them tolerant. He tends to blow off or make fun of the hero supervisors, his playfully rebellious attitude another point of conflict between Flux and his superiors. Deep down, he craves their approval, a tangible proof that he's doing enough, that he's right to keep pushing himself.

Despite his jovial and brash demeanor, he's very private and tends to keep to himself outside of hero work. Most of his fellow heroes know him as fun, hard-working, but ultimately distant, often keeping personal interactions brief. His parents disapprove of his lifestyle as a hero, constantly worrying about his safety. Conversely, Marco is so strict about keeping his lives as Marco Fletcher and Flux separated to keep his family safe. While he's very proud of what he does, he feels a bit guilty for worrying his family, but he knows someone's gotta do it. And who better than a guy who can grow to the size of a building? Like it or not, Marco was born for this. Born to be Flux.

Powers: Marco has the ability to freely change his size, growing as tall as a building or shrinking down to the size of a smartphone at will. He can stay size-changed for a limited time, depending on the strain his body undergoes while changed. If otherwise not exposed to strain or stressed, he can remain big or small for many hours, but in a fight or otherwise exerting himself, his recorded limit is about two hours without having to return to his original size. While small, Flux is weaker and more vulnerable, but fast and nimble, and very tough to lock down. When enlarged, Flux becomes incredibly strong and durable, but exerts himself quicker, and has to take care that his massive size doesn't cause too much collateral damage, causing him to slow down and measure his movements in densely populated areas. A consequence of using his powers is the intense burning of energy when he enlarges himself, meaning he has to build up a reserve of calories to withstand the toll. This means he has to eat in excess to gain weight, which he then quickly loses again by using his powers, leading to his weight fluctuating rapidly. He's always hungry.

Size limits: He can freely change his size on a scale of ~20cm/8in to ~20m/65ft. This is only his current limit, and further training might extend this range.

Quirks: He always keeps a photo of his kid on his person, even when he's out acting as Flux. Around strangers, he defaults to a polished, slightly guarded charm, as if still playing the public-friendly hero. Marco's generally quite fearless, throwing himself into danger without hesitation, but he's terrified of flying and planes, and will not willingly enter an airplane. Marco is allergic to nuts. He's also a surprisingly good artist and sketched out his suit's design himself (then submitted the design to a specialized HHA suit maker). He's also infamous for drawing silly caricatures of his fellow heroes around at HQ. Marco's hesitant to use his powers for non-heroic situations (such as personal or "intimate" use) due to a mix of caution and a bit of self-consciousness, but can be easily swayed, as he's a show-off at heart. He'd never use his powers in public without his suit and mask on, except in life-or-death situations, so as to keep his identity hidden. His clothes never fit him quite right due to his massively fluctuating weight.
