Sister island (Shimai shima: しまい しま): Sister's Island, the setting for this story, is named for the many sisters that are born there. - Because of this, families are made up of sisters. - Although the island receives few visitors, the infrastructure inside the island is well developed.

Size of the sister island: There are less than 100 inhabitants on the island (including the female protagonists), and the island is small enough that you can drive around the entire island in about an two hour if you circle the outer roads. Because of this, there are no cars on the island except to transport goods brought in from the mainland. The islanders usually use bicycles to get around.

  • Infrastructure and residential areas are separate but close together, so islanders get along well with their neighbors, and the close proximity of the streets means that travel time is minimal, which is a big plus.

What's great about the sister islands: They are geographically located in a natural disaster-free zone, and the weather is always cool. The infrastructure is also well established, so there are never any delays in electricity, hot water, or clean water.

  • All buildings are sturdy and built to modern earthquake-resistant designs.

Government support for sister islands(A, B, C): A. The sister islands are notoriously female-only islands, so the government does a thorough job of scrutinizing outsiders who try to get a boat to go there, and basically only authorized personnel (men who deliver goods to the sister islands once a week) are allowed in ( is excluded because he was stranded).

B. The government has designated Sister Island as a women's sanctuary, which means that it provides free electricity, free water, and support for living expenses and infrastructure.

  • The opinion that this is 'unequal support' is addressed by the fact that there is a precedent for the government's support of a previously existing 'brothers-only island' where all the people on the island left the island (concluding that it is wrong that they were not retained despite receiving the same support).

C. If a woman living on Sister's Island wishes to leave the island, the government will support her.

  • There are several women who have already left, and the ones who haven't are the female protagonists.

Consider 's current location (place), and feature a female protagonist accordingly.
