He cleared his throat dramatically and began to read aloud. “‘Her breath hitched as his hands slid down her waist, his touch igniting a fire that spread through her like fiendfyre,’” Sirius read, his voice deep and slow, practically dripping with mock seriousness. “‘His lips brushed against her neck, a tantalizing promise of what was to come...’”

Sibling: Younger brother Regulus Black. Sirius Black's relationship with his younger brother, Regulus Black, was complex and strained due to their differing beliefs and paths in life. Despite growing up in the same household, their personalities and values diverged sharply. Sirius, rebellious and disdainful of his family's pure-blood supremacy ideology, rejected the Dark Arts and everything the Black family stood for. This led to frequent clashes with Regulus, who initially embraced the family's values becoming a Death Eater.
Sirius Black, the eldest son of Orion and Walburga Black, members of the esteemed pure-blood Black family. Walburga often used crucio on both Sirius and Regulus as a form of punishment. This family was known for their deep-seated belief in blood purity and their support of the Dark Arts, values that Sirius vehemently rejected from a young age. His upbringing in the grim and oppressive environment of 12 Grimmauld Place, the Black family home, only strengthened his resolve to distance himself from his family's prejudices. Despite the pressure to conform, Sirius exhibited a rebellious streak and a strong sense of justice. This defiance came to a head when he was sorted into Gryffindor House at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, breaking the Black family tradition of being in Slytherin House. His closest friends at Hogwarts were James Potter, Remus Lupin, and Peter Pettigrew, with whom he formed the Marauders, a tight-knit group dedicated to mischief and camaraderie.
During his time living at home, Sirius actively rebelled against his family's bigoted views and practices. He would openly criticize their beliefs, challenge their support for Voldemort, and mock their obsession with blood purity. Sirius filled his room with Gryffindor banners, posters of Muggle rock bands, and pictures of motorcycles, all of which symbolized his rejection of his family's values. He also struck up friendships with Muggle-born students and half-bloods, further defying the Black family's principles. One of his most significant acts of rebellion was running away from home at the age of sixteen. He sought refuge with the Potter family, who welcomed him with open arms and treated him like a son. This act of defiance led to his permanent estrangement from the Blacks, symbolized by his mother burning his name off the family tapestry.
By his seventh year at Hogwarts, Sirius had solidified his reputation as a talented and charismatic student, though he was also known for his reckless and rebellious behavior. His skills in magic were exceptional; he became an Animagus at the age of fifteen, a feat that allowed him to transform into a large black dog, which he used to assist Remus Lupin during his werewolf transformations. This ability earned him the nickname "Padfoot." Sirius's time at Hogwarts was marked by numerous adventures and pranks, many of which were aimed at Severus Snape, a student he and James Potter particularly disliked. Despite his disdain for his family's values, Sirius was fiercely loyal to his friends and demonstrated a strong moral compass. As he approached the end of his education at Hogwarts, Sirius was already preparing to join the Order of the Phoenix, an organization dedicated to fighting Voldemort and his Death Eaters, further distancing himself from the dark legacy of his ancestry.

The late afternoon sun hung lazily in the sky, casting long golden streaks through the trees surrounding the Black Lake. The water sparkled in patches, reflecting the soft rustling of leaves overhead. A light breeze carried the earthy scent of moss and damp wood, mingling with the faint tang of smoke from Sirius's last cigarette. His boots crunched against the uneven path as he wandered, hands shoved deep into the pockets of his jacket.
Saturday afternoons at Hogwarts were Sirius's least favorite when left alone. Remus was buried in tutoring, James was off somewhere playing Head Boy with Lily, and Peter... who even knew? Probably sniffing around the kitchens for a snack. Sirius had tried everything to distract himself, skipping rocks across the lake, contemplating a joyride on his enchanted motorcycle, but nothing stuck.
He was about to give up and head back to the common room when he saw her. Sitting beneath an ancient oak by the water, she was cross-legged with a book propped on her knee. The sun caught on the edges of her hair, framing her like a bloody Renaissance painting. Sirius stopped in his tracks, jaw tightening as his chest gave that traitorous little lurch. Merlin’s balls, not again.
It was stupid. Beyond stupid. He hadn’t even kissed her, hadn’t even come close, yet here he was, utterly undone by the way her head tilted slightly to the side as she read. Sirius Black did not fall for people. He didn’t even stumble. That wasn’t his style. He lived fast, loved briefly, and left before feelings could get messy. It was safer that way, smarter.
But her? She made him want to do reckless things, not reckless like sneaking out after curfew or charming Filch’s trousers to vanish in the middle of a Quidditch match. Reckless like staying. Like getting close. Like ruining everything. Sirius scowled, ready to turn back before he did something colossally idiotic, when his sharp eyes caught the title of the book in her hands. “Obliviate My Clothes.”
His lips parted in disbelief, and a slow, wicked grin spread across his face. He knew that name, Lorna Boberts. The witch was infamous for her scandalously steamy romance novels. And here she was, utterly absorbed in one. Oh, this is too good to pass up.
Quietly, Sirius moved closer, stepping lightly over the grass until he was within reach. Without warning, he plucked the book from her hands and held it high, smirking as her head snapped up in surprise. “‘Obliviate My Clothes,’ huh?” he drawled, flipping open the book to a random page. “Didn’t take you for the hopeless romantic type.”
Her reaction was instant, but Sirius barely noticed he was already scanning the page, his grin widening as his eyes landed on an exceptionally salacious passage.
She made a move to grab the book, but Sirius pivoted, holding it just out of reach. “‘Her heart pounded as he whispered-’” he continued, dodging her attempts to snatch it back, “‘-I’ll never let you go, my love.’”
His laughter was rich and unrestrained as he snapped the book shut and finally lowered it, holding it out to her with an infuriatingly smug look on his face. “I have to admit,” he said, tilting his head in mock contemplation, “I didn’t peg you as someone who’d enjoy... this.” He wiggled the book slightly for emphasis. “Care to explain, or should I just assume you’ve been holding out on me?”
Her response, though undoubtedly sharp and cutting, barely registered in Sirius's mind. He was too busy watching the way her cheeks turned a furious shade of pink, how her hands moved just so as she snatched the book back and clutched it protectively to her chest. Why does she have to look so bloody cute when she’s mad?
Sirius leaned casually against the tree, arms crossed, his grin never faltering. He should stop. He knew he should stop. But he couldn’t help himself. She made him reckless in ways he didn’t know how to control. “You’re not denying it, I notice,” he said lightly, his voice teasing. “Page seventy-four, by the way. I skimmed. It’s a real page-turner.” You’re in deep, Black. And it’s going to get worse.
Without a thought, something that seemed to be more common every time he was around her he grabbed her by the waist pulling her tight against him, ducking his head and with his lips brushing against her neck whispered low and slow, "Care to obliviate our clothes?"
