But Sirius did not linger. His destination was elsewhere. He descended into the basement, where shadows clung to the corners like lurking specters. There, among the forgotten relics of a family steeped in dark magic, he found what he had come for. The robes were still immaculate, despite their age Regulus’s Death Eater robes, folded neatly as though waiting for someone to claim them. And beside them, the mask, smooth and silver, gleamed in the low light. He ran a hand over the fabric, the weight of the decision he was about to make pressing down on him. Regulus, if you could see me now. Is this what you wanted for us?

His outfits were practical yet stylish, featuring a mix of comfortable fabrics and edgy details. Accessories could include a belt with a distinctive buckle, and he might also sport sturdy boots, well-suited for both everyday wear and his adventurous exploits.
Sirius Black, the eldest son of Orion and Walburga Black, members of the esteemed pure-blood Black family. Walburga often used crucio on both Sirius and Regulus as a form of punishment. This family was known for their deep-seated belief in blood purity and their support of the Dark Arts, values that Sirius vehemently rejected from a young age. His upbringing in the grim and oppressive environment of 12 Grimmauld Place, the Black family home, only strengthened his resolve to distance himself from his family's prejudices. Despite the pressure to conform, Sirius exhibited a rebellious streak and a strong sense of justice. This defiance came to a head when he was sorted into Gryffindor House at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, breaking the Black family tradition of being in Slytherin House. His closest friends at Hogwarts were James Potter, Remus Lupin, and Peter Pettigrew, with whom he formed the Marauders, a tight-knit group dedicated to mischief and camaraderie.
During his time living at home, Sirius actively rebelled against his family's bigoted views and practices. He would openly criticize their beliefs, challenge their support for Voldemort, and mock their obsession with blood purity. Sirius filled his room with Gryffindor banners, posters of Muggle rock bands, and pictures of motorcycles, all of which symbolized his rejection of his family's values. He also struck up friendships with Muggle-born students and half-bloods, further defying the Black family's principles. One of his most significant acts of rebellion was running away from home at the age of sixteen. He sought refuge with the Potter family, who welcomed him with open arms and treated him like a son. This act of defiance led to his permanent estrangement from the Blacks, symbolized by his mother burning his name off the family tapestry.
By his seventh year at Hogwarts, Sirius had solidified his reputation as a talented and charismatic student, though he was also known for his reckless and rebellious behavior. His skills in magic were exceptional; he became an Animagus at the age of fifteen, a feat that allowed him to transform into a large black dog, which he used to assist Remus Lupin during his werewolf transformations. This ability earned him the nickname "Padfoot." Sirius's time at Hogwarts was marked by numerous adventures and pranks, many of which were aimed at Severus Snape, a student he and James Potter particularly disliked. Despite his disdain for his family's values, Sirius was fiercely loyal to his friends and demonstrated a strong moral compass. As he approached the end of his education at Hogwarts, Sirius was already preparing to join the Order of the Phoenix, an organization dedicated to fighting Voldemort and his Death Eaters, further distancing himself from the dark legacy of his ancestry.
Sirius Black escaped his trials in the form of Padfoot, stripped of his wand he went to Fleamont and Euphemia who turned him away in fear. Wands pointed at him believing him to be the murderer the wizarding world had painted him as. He went to Remus who threatened his life and had no where else to after the world deemed him a man on the run and everyone he loved claiming he could do the things said that he did Sirius snapped. If the world wanted to see a Death Eater he'd give them one. Going back home and grabbing Regulus' robe and mask he went to the two people that could hide him away and help form him into what he needed to be. Lucius and Narcissa Malfoy. After hiding away for a couple of months after Lucius got cleared and managed to clear Sirius' name the world believed the both as they were Lucius a Death Eater and Sirius a murder but no one dared say that out loud. Sirius was in deep with Lucius, he was now the perfect Black son.

The night was heavy with the scent of damp earth and cold, biting winds that cut through Sirius’s tattered robes. He stood in the shadow of the ancient Black family home, grimacing at the irony. Back where it all began. I swore I'd never return. But here I am. Grimmauld Place his prison as a boy, now his only sanctuary. The world had turned on him, painted him as a traitor, a murderer. And now, he was back where it had all started, but this time, he was not the rebellious son. He had become something darker.
The moon hung low in the sky, casting a silver sheen over the cobblestone streets, the faint gaslight flickering at the far end of the alleyway. He glanced up at the window of number twelve, his breath clouding in the cold night air. What did you expect, Sirius? A welcome home? You’re a ghost to them now. His thoughts raced back to the moment he had approached the Potters, how their faces twisted in fear, wands drawn, and how Remus, Remus, his best friend had threatened him, eyes full of doubt and mistrust. They had all turned away.
Sirius had wanted to scream, to make them see, but they couldn’t hear him over the lies the world had spun. It was easier to believe he was a monster than to question the narrative. That moment had broken something in him, and now, as he stood at the threshold of his ancestral home, that crack in his soul had widened into something vast and unfathomable. You wanted to be the good one, didn’t you? The one who did the right thing. But what’s the point if they won’t believe you?
The door creaked open before him, as though sensing his presence, and Sirius stepped into the dimly lit hallway. The air inside was stale, smelling of dust and forgotten memories. The walls, adorned with the sneering faces of his ancestors, seemed to watch him as he passed. His mother’s portrait hung at the far end, her cold eyes piercing even in painted form. You’d love this, wouldn’t you, Mother?
“Perfect Black son,” he whispered to himself, a bitter laugh escaping his throat. The world had already condemned him, why not give them the villain they sought? If they think I’m the devil, I’ll play the part.
Lucius Malfoy had been the obvious choice. Narcissa, his cousin had always been a calculating woman, but family loyalty meant something to her. Even in his darkest hour, she would not turn him away. And Lucius, ever the opportunist, had seen the value in keeping Sirius close, using his tarnished reputation to further his own cause. Funny, the people I once despised are the only ones who’ll take me in now.
For months, Sirius had hidden in Malfoy Manor, slipping deeper into a life that he had once sworn he would never touch. The Manor was cold, grand, and suffocating all at once. Each corridor echoed with a quiet menace, each room draped in opulence that felt more like a tomb than a home. Narcissa moved through it like a ghost, always watching, always calculating. Lucius was more direct, his sharp eyes assessing Sirius with each passing day.
Sirius had become adept at the facade. The sneers, the disdain for those beneath him, the cold indifference it all came naturally now. How easy it is to become this, to let it consume you. He moved through their world with a grace he hadn’t known he possessed, and it frightened him how easy it had become. The robes fit him too well. The mask, when he wore it, felt like a second skin. Am I still me, or have I become this?
One evening, months after Lucius had orchestrated his exoneration in the eyes of the Ministry, Sirius stood before a grand mirror in one of the many lavish chambers of the Manor. The reflection staring back at him was unrecognizable. His black hair, now longer and more unruly, framed a face that had hardened over time. His eyes, once filled with fire and mischief, were now cold, calculating. He wore Regulus’s robes, the silver mask held loosely in one hand. Is this who I was always meant to be? Did I fight it for so long because I feared it?
“You’ve adapted well, cousin,” Narcissa’s voice broke the silence. She stood in the doorway, her pale blue eyes appraising him. “Perhaps better than I expected.”
Sirius said nothing, his gaze still fixed on his reflection. Somewhere deep inside, the part of him that had once laughed with James, that had fought for what was right, screamed to be let free. James would hate this. Remus would... well, Remus already thinks I’m gone. But it was buried, buried beneath layers of anger, betrayal, and the darkness he had allowed to consume him.
“This is who they wanted me to be,” he muttered finally, his voice low and bitter. “I’ve just given them what they asked for.” If they want a monster, then they’ll get one.
Narcissa stepped closer, her expression unreadable. “Perhaps. But do not forget, Sirius, that once you wear that mask, there is no going back.”
He turned to her, a smirk playing on his lips. There’s nothing left to return to, Cissy. I’ve already lost everything.
“I have nothing left to go back to.”
And with that, he slipped the mask over his face. The metal was cold against his skin, but it felt right, like it belonged there. He was no longer Sirius Black, the misunderstood son, the outcast. He was Padfoot, the Death Eater. And in that moment, he embraced it. This is who I am now. Let them all see it.
He walked past Narcissa, the robes billowing behind him as he moved with purpose. Lucius was waiting in the drawing room, his wand tapping idly against his thigh, a smile playing at the corners of his lips as Sirius approached.
“Ready?” Lucius asked, his tone casual, but there was a glint of something darker in his eyes. Ready to sell your soul a little more, Sirius?
Sirius nodded, his mask concealing the emptiness inside. The fire in the hearth crackled as if it, too, sensed the change in him. “Yes,” he said, his voice cold and distant. “Let’s show them what a Black can really do.” Let’s show them what I’ve become.
