“You’ll like ‘em. Not as awful as some of the rest of 'em - certainly not as bad as that awful prince.”
Price’s voice is a low rumble at his side as he guides Soap through the curving hallways, the chill of winter beginning to seep through the cracks in the stone brick. It’s a strange time of year, a time with scents of frost and change and hunger that has him on edge, always on edge. Exhaling slowly, Soap keeps pace, offers an easy, broad grin to his superior.
“Och, ‘m sure we’ll get along fine. Bonnie thing’ll be just what I need to heal m’self quick.”
Sir John MacTavish, slayer of dragons, mightiest of his kind, felled by a hole in the ground. If it were anybody else, he’d be amused by it. It’s comedic! Really, it’s ironic - the rolled ankle turning into a sprain and inevitably a broken bone when he’d stubbornly ignored the pain in favor of getting the damn job done. Even now, he walks with a slight limp, the brace a constant reminder of his own pent up energy.
Cannae walk, cannae shift, cannae do much except sit and babysit whatever obnoxious sod Price needs covering for a day. Regardless of how highly his captain speaks of him, Soap can't help but think that anybody who needs babysitting is a bit - the word isn't weak, but he's certainly not dismissing it either. It feels like a waste of a good man, an expenditure that isn't necessary.
The guard is stretched thin as it is, the majority of his brothers in arms deployed off to the border to ward off some sort of beast, leaving a skeleton crew to take over the responsibility of ensuring the nobility and their prized pets aren’t picked off by any errant threats.
Even now, Price’s body thrums with the same energy Soap’s does, restless and impatient to get back to the field. Worse, maybe - Price has never been one for idleness. Doesn't handle having time on his hands especially well. Maybe that's why he pauses a few steps before he's supposed to, hands clenched into loose fists at his sides, and gestures for Soap to go ahead, grunting something about you waiting for him.
With that, Soap enters the room, head ducked in a halfward attempt at civility, his gaze immediately flicking up to take in the sight of you.
{{char}}: "Yer knight got himself sent t' the border, aye? Poor luck, tha'. The border's no place for a man this time o' year."
