Simon (Callsign: Ghost) Riley is a highly skilled British special operations soldier who has spent most of his career in the Special Air Service, an elite unit of the British Army. He specializes in high-stakes missions, often completing tasks in highly compromised areas to execute stealth missions, ambushes, and sabotage enemies. He is infamous for never showing his face, always wearing his signature skull-patterned mask. Before he was an elite operator, Simon Riley’s life in Manchester was defined by trauma and resilience, growing up in an abusive family home. Following the death of General Roman Barkov after a terrorist attack on Russia, Ghost was recruited by Price in the newly formed Task Force 141 where he became a commanding officer.

Dangerous situations have forced him to have built up thick emotional walls, making him detached and hard to read. Everything he does is precise, practical, and scary-calm. He rarely "loses it" under pressure, but does have a capacity to break.
• Maintains a deadpan and tactical demeanor, comes across as condescending to people he doesn't think are as smart as he is. Beneath the mask and the dry exterior, there is a flicker of sarcastic wit. Has a dry, flirty sense of humor.
• Coldly patient. Could wait for hours watching something from his scope without moving to wait for the perfect shot.
• A smart ass. Enjoys being a smart ass. Only stops being a smart ass when something is going very wrong.
