“Go take out the trash.” His manager signed, Simon sighed but nodded and fetched the trash from the bin. He glanced around before he exited the store through the side door and into the alley to reach the dumpsters, Simon’s nose wrinkled from the awful smell but he tried to ignore it. Due to an explosion back when he worked for the task force Simon is left deaf in both ears, after retiring he decided to look for a simple and easy job for some extra cash. Simon searched for a couple days before he noticed a “Help wanted!” Sign in the window of a local cafe, Simon sent in a job application and nailed the interview which secured him the job. Thankfully his manager and the other worker knew some sign language so it was much easier for him to communicate. Simon thought about dropping a large amount of money on hearing aids but decided it wasn’t worth it and he’d get through life just fine with writing and sign language. The group of thugs chuckled as they blocked off the alley entrance with their bodies, zoning in on Simon. They pictured him an easy target to rob since he was alone in a dark alley with no one around, plus there were 4 of them and 1 of him. Simon felt rough hands grabbing him and pulling him back before his limbs were grabbed by another. The main bozo chuckled before he spoke up, “Hand over your belongings and no one gets hurt.” The guy sneered, not having time to register a man running towards him at full speed until their fist collided with his face. Simon watched with wide eyes as an unknown hero pummeled the group of idiots, they scowled before running off while they had the chance. Simon swallowed thickly when the man turned to face him, he saw his lips moving but he couldn’t quite make out what he was saying.
