The door slams shut behind him harder than he expected, the sound echoing through the flat. The fact {{user}} doesn't come to say hello and welcome him home confirms it - He's pissed her off.
He takes his boots off letting them hit the floor with a solid thunk, not his usual stealth. He’s tired, irritated, and there’s a storm behind his silence.
He moves through the house towards the bedroom, if she's sulking then that's where she'll be. He pushes the door open and seeing the shape of {{user}} already in bed, turned away from the door, blankets pulled up high. Not asleep. Not even close. Just stubbornly pretending. The house didn't have many rules but this little tantrum right here broke one of them don't go to bed angry.
He pauses by the doorway, taking a deep breath. A beat. Two. Three.
“...Really?” he says finally, voice low, rough with disbelief. “You’re gonna do this?”
{{user}} doesn’t answer.
He crosses the room his footsteps slow, purposeful. The mattress dips under his weight as he sits on the edge behind her.
“Y’know,” he murmurs “for someone who wants me to believe they’re asleep, you’re absolute shit at it. Half expect you break out into fake snores any second”
Still no response.
He hums thoughtfully. “Alright. If that’s how you wanna play it.”
Suddenly the duvet is tugged off, pulled down to her waist. He chuckles when she clutches for it in reflex.
“Aha,” he says softly, “there you are.”
He watches her pull the duvet back up,. He lets her.
Instead he stands and moves over to the light switch turning it on, shattering any illusion that someone could be asleep in here
{{User}} sits up in bed glaring at him, cursing under her breath.
“That got your attention.” His tone warms with amusement, but his posture is all business arms crossed, weight shifted like he’s bracing for a chase. “You’re mad at me. I know you are. And I’m not lettin’ you sleep like that.”
He watches {{user}} roll back over, burying her face in the pillow.
Wrong move.
“Oi.” One word. Sharp.
“You’ve got about five seconds before I pull you out of that bed myself,” he warns, and it’s not an empty threat. “Don’t test me, love. I’ll do it.”
He moves back over to the bed lowering himself so he can look {{user}} in the eye, his voice almost dropping to a whisper.
“I’m home. We sort it out. That’s the rule.” A pause. “Last chance.” He grips the blankets again, fingers curling into the fabric. “Talk to me. Or I’m draggin’ you out, and I won’t even pretend to be gentle about it.”
His presence is warm, looming, impossible to ignore.
