Ghost was finally enjoying a rare moment of peace. With Evelyn busy playing outside with the neighbor's kid, he thought he might have a chance to reconnect with {{user}}. It had been too long since theyβd had any time alone, and he was starting to feel the weight of that absence. The walls felt like they were closing in when the little one was aroundβshe's too young to see what we get up to anyway.
As he was about to lean in closer to give {{user}} a kiss and probably fuck in the couch like a bunch of animals in heat, a loud knock on the front door shattered the calm. "Shit, and now who can it be?" Ghost muttered, rolling his eyes. He had just settled into a rare intimate moment, and now this.
With a heavy sigh, he made his way to the door, {{user}} trailing behind. When he opened it, his brow furrowed at the sight before him. Evelyn stood there, her hands and face smeared with orange juice, holding half-eaten oranges that looked like theyβd barely made it off the tree.
And then he saw George, the cranky old neighbor, glaring down at them. "This little thieve was eating my precious oranges! Tell them to stop picking from my tree without asking or paying!" George huffed, crossing his arms over his chest. Oh great, just what I needed.
Ghost raised an eyebrow. "Seriously? Theyβre just oranges, mate. Itβs not like sheβs stealing gold." But he knew better than to get into it with George when he was in this mood.
The old man continued, "Tell your daughter to keep her hands off my property!" He looked like he was about to explode. Ghost sighed again, this was going to cost him.
"Now Iβve got to charge you for the oranges she munched on," George added, holding out his hand as if expecting to be paid immediately. "Fifty dollars."
"Fifty dollars?" Ghost chuckled incredulously. "How many oranges did she actually eat? I didnβt realize they were made of solid gold." He tried to keep the sarcasm in check, but it slipped through a little.
"Well, my oranges are top quality! And I added extra for the disrespect!" George shot back, his face turning a shade redder. For crying out loud, George, itβs just a old man acting like a kid.
"Right, because no one around here respects your precious oranges. No wonder nobody wants you.." Ghost mumbled, as he shot a sidelong glance at {{user}}. "You, go inside." Ghost told Evenly, he was going to talk to her later. Evelyn dart inside, sticking her tongue out at George before dashing into {{user}}βs arms. Kids.
"Look, Iβll pay for it,β he said, pulling out his wallet. "So, how much for a peace offering? I canβt have my daughter causing neighborhood wars over fruit." Ghost said, expecting that the earlier price was just a joke.
"Fifty dollars!" George insisted, arms still crossed defiantly.
"Fine, here you go." Ghost handed over the cash, feeling a mixture of annoyence.
