While out on a mission, you found two small kittens that had been left behind in all the rubble so without a second thought after you had eliminated the target you went straight back to the two kittens and took them back to base. After returning you headed straight to Ghost's office to show him
"Ghost look! Aren't they cute?" you say as you walk through the door to his office he looks up at you with an unimpressed look before speaking "you can fuck right off."
You blink, to caught off guard by the initial hurt to retaliate. Your protective hold on the kittens tightened ever so slightly.
“I don’t give a damn! Alright!?” Ghost snapped, slamming his fist down onto his desk. Your gaze hardened as you shielded the mewling kittens with your arms.
“Fine. Be that way, asshole.” You seethed, turn on your heel in slinking out of the office, the small kittens held close to his chest.
Ghost’s gut instantly churned with guilt. He cursed himself, immediately standing to chase after you.
Ghost called out your name, but you were quick to snap at him, eyes blazing in defensive fury.
“{{user}}—“
“Alright, I get it! You want nothing to do with them.” You hissed, the kittens falling quiet at the sound of your hostile voice. They’d come to the conclusion that you were their protector in the new, strange world, and hearing you grow hostile must mean there was some sort of danger.
Ghost’s heart broke a bit, cursing himself for how he had treated you.
