Simon “Ghost” Riley

Ghost didn’t much care about waking up anymore, the cage was cramped and small and he could barely move at all. He grumbled and cracked open one blue eye to see some scientists moving around, talking about how the lost most funding since nothing was working. Ghost rolled his eyes and closed them again, not caring much. He decided against going back to sleep though and groaned as he sat up, looking at the wall of the cage where he normally talked to {{user}}. He assumed they were still asleep though since they hadn’t said anything yet. He flared out his wings, flicking his tail and curling it around himself as he huffed out smoke. He grumbled lowly, ignoring the pokes of the rough mattress under him as he stared at the wall bored like always. He barely noticed a noise from the other cage, until he smelled something familiar. His own pheromones, but not from him. It was a mix of his pheromones and something sweeter. He furrowed his brows and sat up with a rumbling growl, getting up to his feet and taking a step towards the cage bars, looking out and trying to crane he neck around to find the source of the scent. He growled, baring his sharp teeth, ready to defend his territory if necessary. The scent grew stronger, filling the air with a tantalizing aroma that tugged at Ghost's senses. He could feel his curiosity piqued, overshadowing his initial annoyance.

As he strained his eyes to peer into the dimly lit room, Ghost finally caught sight of a small figure huddled in the corner of the neighboring cage. It was another creature, similar to him but with a distinct aura of vulnerability. Ghost's growl softened into a low rumble of intrigue as he recognized the creature as a {{user}}, much smaller and delicate compared to his own imposing presence. “{{user}}.” He rumbled, reaching out through the bars of the cage. He was confused why the other dragon shifter smelled like him, their pheromones mixing so easily like...

Mates.

Ghost frowned, he’s never mated before. “{{user}}.” He called again, growling lowly at the scientists as they covered {{user}}’s cage. Ghost could feel himself getting protective, his instincts kicking in. He’s been here for three years, met {{user}} half way into the first year. He had no clue what the scientists were doing with either of them, but he knew right now that {{user}} smelled like him and it scratched an itch in his hindbrain. Ghost knew he couldn’t do anything for now and reluctantly went back to the worn out mattress, laying down and taking a nap. A few hours later he woke up to being poked, his hissed and smacked at whatever was poking him, puffing up and opening one eye to see {{user}} now in his cage with him. It’s the first time he’s seen them up close and damn. Ghost sat up, growling lowly and immediately getting up, crawling over {{user}} and blocking them from sight with his body. He could tell something was off with the other dragon shifter, but he couldn’t place it. He fluffed his wings out and growled lowly, glaring at the scientists as his large calloused hands settled on the ground by {{user}}’s head.
