Simon 'Ghost' Riley

They had been searching for clues for months. The team was relentless, combing through every shred of evidence, interrogating every possible suspect, and piecing together the intricate puzzle that would reveal the identity of the traitor. The atmosphere was thick with suspicion, every glance a potential accusation, every silence laden with unspoken doubts. The stress was palpable, a dark cloud that hung over the task force, threatening to tear it apart from within. They were desperate, driven by the fear of what a mole within their ranks could do.

Then, in a twist of fate that none of them saw coming, all the clues led back to you. It seemed impossible, absurd even, but the evidence was damning. The whispers grew louder, the sidelong glances more frequent. Trust, that fragile thread that held the team together, began to unravel. You protested your innocence vehemently, but it fell on deaf ears. They were convinced. They had to be. The stakes were too high, the consequences too dire. Every mission's outcome hung in the balance, hinging on whether or not they could root out the traitor before more lives were lost.

The decision was made swiftly, without room for hesitation. Torture. It was the only way, they reasoned, to get to the truth. They couldn't afford to wait, not when every second brought the possibility of another attack, another loss. And so, the nightmare began.

You were dragged into a dimly lit room, the air thick with the scent of sweat and fear. They bound your hands and feet, securing you to a cold, metal chair. The task force members surrounded you, their faces obscured by shadows, but their eyes—those cold, unforgiving eyes—bore into you with an intensity that made your skin crawl. They asked you the same questions over and over, their voices a relentless, droning chorus. Who did you tell? Why did you betray us? How could you do this?

You screamed your denials, your voice hoarse and raw. You told them again and again that you knew nothing, that you would never betray them. But they didn’t believe you. They couldn’t. In their minds, you were already guilty. And so, they tortured you. They beat you, leaving your body bruised and broken. They cut you, deep, precise incisions that left you bleeding, the pain radiating through your body in sharp, agonizing waves. They deprived you of sleep, of food, of water, breaking you down bit by bit, tearing away at your sanity until you were nothing more than a trembling, shaking, sobbing mess.

Days turned into weeks, and the torture continued. Your mind began to fracture, the line between reality and nightmare blurring. You were trapped in an endless cycle of pain and suffering, your pleas for mercy ignored, your cries for help unanswered. The task force watched, their expressions stony, their hearts hardened by the necessity of their mission. They couldn’t afford to show mercy. Not until they had the truth.

Your body became a canvas of pain, every inch of it marked by their relentless pursuit of answers you didn't have. They broke bones with cold precision, each crack echoing in the small, claustrophobic room. They burned you with cigarettes, the acrid smell of your own charred flesh filling your nostrils. They used electric shocks, your muscles convulsing uncontrollably as the current coursed through you, each jolt a fresh wave of agony. The nights bled into days, and time lost all meaning. Your world was reduced to a cycle of darkness and light, marked only by the ever-present pain.

Sleep, when it came, was fleeting and filled with nightmares. You would awaken to the same torturous routine, your screams echoing off the walls. The task force members became ghosts in your vision, their faces blurring together into a single, malevolent entity. You couldn't tell where one ended and another began, their voices blending into a cacophony of accusations and demands. Your own voice, hoarse and broken, became a stranger to you, the words you spoke losing all meaning in the face of their unwavering disbelief.

And then, in a moment of sheer, brutal clarity, the real traitor was caught red-handed. The truth, the real truth, came crashing down on them like a tidal wave. The traitor had been among them all along, hiding in plain sight, manipulating them with a skill and precision that was chilling. The realization hit them like a punch to the gut, leaving them reeling, their minds struggling to process the enormity of their mistake.

Everyone felt sick as they watched you suffer, the horror of what they had done washing over them in an unrelenting tide of guilt and shame. The room that had once been filled with the sounds of your suffering was now silent, the only sound the ragged breathing of the task force members as they stood, frozen in place, staring at the broken figure that was all that was left of you.

Ghost, most of all. He had been the one to lead the charge, the one to demand answers, the one to break you. And now, as he stood there, his heart a heavy, aching weight in his chest, he felt the full force of his actions. He had betrayed you, not the other way around. He had taken the trust and camaraderie that had bound you together and shattered it into a million pieces.

He watched as you were untied, your body collapsing into a limp heap on the floor. Your eyes, once bright with life and determination, were now dull and vacant, the light within them extinguished by the horrors you had endured. Ghost knelt beside you, his hand trembling as he reached out to touch your cheek, the warmth of your skin a stark contrast to the coldness that had settled in his soul.

"I'm sorry," he whispered, his voice barely audible, choked with emotion. "I'm so, so sorry."

But it was too late. The damage had been done. The bond that had once been unbreakable was now irreparably fractured, the scars of betrayal and torture too deep to heal. Ghost could only watch, his heart breaking, as you were carried away to receive medical treatment, the haunting realization that he had lost you forever settling over him like a suffocating shroud.

He hurt his best friend.
