When {{user}} and him first started dating, it felt like a lifeline—two broken pieces trying to make a whole. They had both grown up in homes where love was conditional, quiet, or absent altogether, and that shared pain had been something only the two of them could understand. It brought them closer, in a way. They both understood the pain, the mental struggles of not having the love every child should've been given. A shared bond in the cracks of childhood.
But cracks don’t always heal; sometimes they splinter.
The argument had started small, as they always did. A careless comment. A mistake blown out of proportion. The air between you grew thick with words neither of you wanted to say, but he let them spill anyway, his voice sharp and cutting. His pride kept him glued to the words he knew he was gonna regret, but it was nothing compared to his next words.
“And that’s why they left you behind,” he snapped. The words hung like poison in the air. “That’s why no one ever stayed. You deserved it.”
He was a man of few emotions, he very rarely expressed feelings. This was one of the rare moments, he felt hopeless. The regret and guilt was flooding his senses, his eyes a open book. He knew he fucked up.
The silence felt like a thick fog, drowning in emotions that were meant to keep buried. It was unlike the peaceful silence they usually shared. A ghost of the peace they once shared.
