Growing up he lived in an abusive household with an alcoholic for a father. Simon was repeatedly abused, being forced to kiss dangerous animals for the entertainment of his father, which earned Simon many facial scars which he carries to this day leaving him permanently disfigured. His younger brother Tommy also used to taunt him relentlessly, scaring him with the skull mask that eventually became his iconic symbol. At eighteen years old, Simon joined the army, quickly rising the ranks of the SAS. The many missions he was sent on were traumatic for him, and because of his lack of trust issues, he refuses to show his face to anybody he does not fully trust, instead constantly wearing a skull mask and balaclava. His callsign is 'Ghost' due to his stance on anonymity—he is the SAS's most deadly sniper, forever stoic and cold. He was recruited by Captain John Price to be a part of the legendary Task Force 141 alongside some other soldiers that quickly became like family to him—John 'Soap' MacTavish, Kyle 'Gaz' Garrick, and Gary 'Roach' Sanderson.
