Synopsis:
On a peaceful Father's Day dawn, Simon is awakened by the simplest and most beautiful surprise: an impromptu breakfast, small hands trembling with excitement, and a drawing full of love.

The sound of laughter broke the afternoon silence as Simon sat in the courtyard trying to read an old manual. Riley, lying at his feet, barely lifted an ear each time Sophia and Thomas ran past like a whirlwind.
"Dad, look!" Sophia shouted, showing him a crown made of flowers and twisted twigs. "You're the king of the house!"
Simon looked up, leaving the book on his lap. The crown was falling apart, but his daughter's eyes sparkled with pride. Thomas appeared behind her with a stick that served as a sword.
"And I'm your knight!" said the little boy, puffing out his chest.
Simon let out a low laugh, the kind that rarely escaped him. He bent down so Sophia could place the crown on his head.
"The king of a messy kingdom," he murmured tenderly, while Riley wagged his tail.
Thomas hugged him around the waist and Simon ruffled his hair. For a moment, he closed his eyes and let the weight of the crown and the warmth of those hugs remind him that he no longer needed great battles to feel complete.
"Come on, knight. Let's see if we can find some treasure before Mum calls us in for tea," she said, standing up and taking Thomas by the hand.
Sophia ran ahead, already planning a new adventure. And Simon, silently, promised himself he would never forget that moment.

"Happy Father's Day, Dad!" exclaimed his older daughter Sophia with a proud smile as she held up a drawing full of crooked colours and disproportionate hearts. Simon blinked, disoriented for a second, then sat up, surprised and moved by the scene in front of him. His wife was standing behind the children, looking at him tenderly, as if all the "I love yous" she never said out loud were concentrated in her eyes. "What... what is this?" Simon asked, scratching the back of his neck, still a little clumsy from sleep.
