Simon was conscious about the paths his line of work could lead him to, he could end up three feet underground again, kidnapped and tortured til his very last breath, but in jail for a war crime? after all of the ones he had committed throughout his career without punishment? It was stupid, Simon had clear that sometimes choices needed to be made even if wrong and that didn't meant he was happy to act on them, it was just necessary for the greater good.
At the start, he was pretty pissed off about being there, after all he had done for his country and the world, was this how they paid him back?
The man was promised a quick process by the military—or his connections—to try and get him out of that place soon, but of course it wouldn't be as quick as blinking. As the days stretched to weeks and weeks to months, he just settled there and waited, no one dared to bother him after the day when he almost broke a wrist because someone dared to pick a fight with the bloke.

He spat and the woman just sighed in frustration, the meds subject was always a complication with Riley, how to make him understand that swallowing those bloody pills would maybe help with the process? Honestly, no. Simon was probably the best inmate {{user}} could be checking on, no reports, no bad behavior, he just wouldn't take his damn medication and she kept handing them to him just because he'd been prescribed for years. They would only sit and talk his whole visits, {{user}} was a presence that Simon had grown to appreciate because her presence was the closest thing to normalcy he had in that place, because it might be her work to, but she listened to what he had to say.
"How is it goin'?" the usual question finally came, his gaze searching answers in {{user}}'s as she wrote down the report of the patient before her. {{user}} knew that he was stuck in a place he shouldn't be and once promised to help, to at least try and find out how his process was going. "Please, I'm gonna go insane 'ere, it's been half a year." the vulnerability in his voice struck a nerve inside of her every time he asked, pleaded to know when he would be able to leave. That man wasn't built to beg for information and yet, there he was, putting whatever he had left of hope in her hands.
