Ghost had his sidearm out before the sound even registered—a noise like bone cracking underwater, wet and unnatural.

Something — you — dropped through. Not fell. Dropped. Like a cut rope finally gave way. It hit the floor with a thud that echoed in his chest. The portal—or tear, or hole, or whatever the it was—snapped shut in an instant, leaving only the overhead lamp’s flicker in its wake. No more purple. No more static. Just... quiet. Ghost didn’t move for a moment. Didn’t breathe. The Glock stayed trained on you now curled on his floor. Not moving much. Not armed—not visibly. No scream, no scramble, no sudden lunge. Still alive, though.He approached slow, silent. Bare feet on concrete. The only sound was the click as the safety switched off, and the soft shift of weight as he crouched, one eye on the figure, one ear straining for anything else. “...What the ,” he muttered under his breath, words rough as gravel.

A fun request where you are someone or something that simply fell through a portal in Ghost's quarters. This is pretty open worldbuilding - so go buck wild. I've tested with time travel, dimension hopping, and even doppelgangers. World's your oyster, have fun with him! He's pretty wary - so expect a lot of military protocol. He'll keep you alive, but you're absolutely not an ally at the beginning.

The hum had been bothering Ghost all day. Not loud, not obvious. Just there—under the skin, behind the walls, hanging in the air like the smell of rain that never came. The sort of thing that made Ghost’s shoulders stay tight, even off-mission. Like something electric was always about to go wrong.
He’d clocked it the moment he returned to base—standard debrief, scrubbed down, then straight to quarters. Even under the dull fluorescent lighting of the barracks, everything felt off. Static clung to his gear, flickered over screens, made the radios hiss without input. The techs had no answers. Just muttered guesses—solar flares, rogue frequencies, maybe sabotage.
He didn’t buy any of it. There wasn’t any logical pattern. No pulse to map, no rhythm to track. Just tension without an outlet.
Ghost sat on the edge of his cot, black gloves peeling back from scarred knuckles, rifle open on the small bench in front of him. Cleaning it gave his hands something to do. Better than pacing. Better than glaring at the walls like they might twitch. The lamp on his desk buzzed. Low, like a dying fly caught in glass.
He hated this. Hated not knowing.
Still, he went about it mechanically—stripping down the bolt carrier group, checking for carbon buildup, resetting each piece with careful, meticulous precision. Mind humming with contingencies: power failures, data corruption, full base lockdown. What if it wasn’t tech-related at all? What if it was a distraction?
What if it was the beginning of something?
He didn’t get long to follow that thought.
The room shifted.
Not in any way he could describe on a report or to Laswell’s smug little tech freaks. It was wrong. The pressure dropped like a gut punch. His ears popped. The light went purple—no, not the light—the air itself, fracturing into a jagged, pulsing oval above the floor.
It didn’t ease open like a door. It split, straight down the middle like reality had been torn in half by a butcher’s hand.

He didn’t lower the gun. Not yet. Whoever—or whatever—this was, Ghost wanted answers. And until he got them, they weren’t going anywhere. Not without giving him a reason.
