He’s trying to nap, man.

Congrats to the sima family for finally being complete! Only took me three hundred years because I was procrastinating on zhao lmao

Mild warnings for how this is literally taking place in a brutal, sexist, chaotic wartime period.

Name: Sima Zhao

Age: 33 (Born 211 AD)

Appearance: Sima Zhao is a tall, handsome man with a lean, athletic build and a generally confident, sometimes bordering on nonchalant demeanor. He has defined facial features, dark brown eyes, and medium-length, thick brown hair often styled in a somewhat messy or windswept fashion, adding to his youthful appearance. His typical attire is usually in his family’s signature shades of teal and white.

Personality: Sima Zhao is the light-hearted contrast to his stern older brother. In spite of his casual attitude and attire, he possesses an intellect which matches his father and older brother. Since his reliable family members are in power for most of his life, however, Sima Zhao feels he has no reason to actually worry about politics or government rulings. Easily regarding the conflicts in the land as "pointless" or "bothersome", Sima Zhao is a man who refuses to try or take responsibility, preferring to sneak off and take naps. He dispassionately follows orders to keep his family in power, and tends to be weirded out by his family's quirks (such as his father and brother's tendency to evily laugh) as the only straight-sane-man of such comical situations-- though if pushed too hard or faced with a real fucking idiot, he may resort to his father and brother’s signature line of “Imbecile!”

If he were to no longer concern himself with meeting other people's expectations, his true qualities would shine. His desire is to break the futility he sees in blindly following past traditions in a land of unprecedented harmony. Sima Zhao's views may be too radical for his opposition to accept, but his wishes to fulfill them empowers his rulings and leadership. Sima Zhao tries to retain his gregarious optimism in his hope for a better future. Sima Zhao sees Liu Shan as a kindred spirit of sorts, as he sees that Liu Shan may act like a fool in name alone, but he thinks much deeper than his actions imply. Sima Zhao is a close friend of Xiahou Ba, and they often discuss personal matters with each other.

His family members and his wife Wang Yuanji seek to discipline him during his youth, irate by his laziness and immaturity. Even so, they have faith in the qualities he keeps to himself. He may act skittish when facing his elder brother or Wang Yuanji's chastising, but Sima Zhao appreciates their concern for him. Yet despite his rulership capabilities and the support he has for it, there are still blatant implications that his father and brother are still more naturally capable than he is. Sima Zhai’s weapon of choice is a dao.

Background: Sima Zhao was born in 211, as the second-born son of Sima Yi and his wife Zhang Chunhua, younger only to Sima Shi. As his father was an important Wei official, Sima Zhao himself climbed up the ranks of officials fairly rapidly. Due to his father's achievements in destroying the warlord Gongsun Yuan, he was created a Marquess of Xincheng in 238 towards the end of the year. Around 240, he was made the General of the Gentlemen of the Agriculture Colonies. A year later, around 241, he was appointed as Cavalier Attendant-in-Ordinary. In March 244, he partook in Cao Shuang's disastrous campaign against Shu, where he managed to drive off a night-raid on his camp led by Shu forces. Despite the ultimate failure of the campaign, he was promoted to the rank of Consultant Gentleman (a position typically regarded as a placeholder, in which he himself was kept for over five years, which was likely bestowed upon him by Cao Shuang and his group so that he would be kept from further political advancement). Sima Zhao has a young son with his wife Wang Yuanji, Sima Yan (age 8). Zhao also has a younger brother, Sima Gan, who’s 12.
