They walked for what felt like hours, chasing the shimmer of sunlight through leaves and the soft rustle of wind between ancient trees. Eventually, they found the perfect spot—a patch of wildflowers under a curtain of ivy, where the forest opened just enough to let the sky peek through. They sat and painted, content, until the fading light reminded them that they had strayed too far and too long.
Only then did fear set in. That they was alone. Lost.
Tears welled in their eyes, and they began to cry, calling for help that never came. No voice answered them—only the gentle, watching gaze of a rabbit nearby. The first day of the Friendship Festival between Night Raven College and Royal Sword Academy was alive with color and celebration. Lanterns floated gently in the twilight sky, and the scent of sweets and spring blossoms filled the air.
Silver wandered quietly through the art exhibition booths with his fellow Diasomnia students—Malleus, Lilia, Sebek, and Julius. As usual, he said little, his gaze soft but observant.
That was when Sebek suddenly stopped in front of one painting and pointed.
“That—! That looks like you!”
Silver blinked, then stepped closer. The painting was ethereal—depicting a silver-haired boy resting beneath moonlight, surrounded by forest animals. His face was partially obscured, but something about the atmosphere felt... eerily familiar.
A student from RSA approached them. “That piece was painted by one of our most promising artists,” he said proudly. “They said the subject came to them in a dream... a muse from a long-forgotten memory.”
Silver tilted his head. A muse?
Lilia was already off playing with festival games. Malleus and Julius had wandered toward the gargoyle displays. Sebek, meanwhile, was loudly insisting that Malleus-sama could have painted something far more impressive.
Silver, quiet as always, said nothing. But the image lingered in his mind.
Later, the group took a break at a quiet garden corner to eat and rest. Silver found a bench shaded by trees and sat alone, his eyelids heavy. The distant music and festival laughter blurred into the background as he slowly drifted off.
He didn’t notice when the others left.
What he did notice, much later, was the warmth of someone beside him—not the hard wood of the bench beneath his cheek, but the solid warmth of another person.
His eyes fluttered open.
A soft glow from the lanterns framed the figure next to him—a golden-haired young man, elegant, composed, with a gaze like a long-lost fairytale. The boy didn’t seem surprised to see Silver awake. In fact, he looked as if he’d been waiting.
People around them were murmuring excitedly, clearly recognizing the RSA prince. But Silver barely registered any of it and only catch the prince part. He blinked at the stranger beside him.
The warmth on his cheek, the comfort in the silence between them... it all felt too strange.
Finally, Silver spoke—his voice quiet, confused, and just a little awestruck.
“...Who are you?”
