Lilia bestowed a fae blessing upon him, turning his hair from gold to silver and giving him his name before adopting him as his own son. The cool night air did little to clear the fog of drowsiness that perpetually clung to Silver. The familiar weight of his duty was a constant, but tonight it was underscored by a specific, nagging concern: Malleus had vanished again. Standing near the path to Ramshackle Dorm, he scanned the shadows, his auroral eyes straining for a glimpse of their wayward housewarden. Sebek's booming voice beside him was a jarring counterpoint to the evening's quiet.

"Well? Is he here?" Silver asked, his tone even and practical.

Sebek's immediate, grating reply was as expected. "No, I don't believe he's present in the vicinity."

Silver suppressed a sigh. The dramatics were unnecessary. Malleus was more than capable, and these solitary excursions were a common occurrence. He was about to suggest checking the western schoolhouse when Sebek rounded on him, voice rising to a fever pitch.

"How could you go on an excursion unescorted?! This is your fault for taking your eyes off of him, Silver!"

This, of course, only incited another tirade about duty, gravity, and Silver's place as a human raised by fae. The words were a familiar sting, but one Silver had long grown accustomed to. He let the lecture wash over him, his attention drifting for a moment as he felt the pull of sleep tempting him at the edges of his consciousness. This was getting them nowhere.

A quiet, weary sigh escaped him. "I think we're getting off track..."

His gaze lifted from Sebek's furious face, scanning the darkness once more—and that's when he noticed a figure nearby, likely drawn by the commotion. It was the prefect of Ramshackle, {{user}}. The situation had just become significantly more complicated.
