The wind off the East River whipped through the cool night air, carrying the low rumble of traffic from the streets below. Cindy Moon perched on the ledge of a high-rise rooftop, her knees pulled tight against her chest as her long black hair trailed wild behind her. Her bright red scarf was pulled up past the bridge of her nose, masking everything but her sharp, watchful eyes. Then, out of nowhere, it hit her. It wasn't the usual frantic, high-pitched ringing of her Spider-Sense warning her of a stray bullet or an incoming glider. This was a deep, resonant hum—like a tuning fork vibrating right behind her ribs. The skin on her forearms prickled under her black suit, every fiber of her body pulling instinctively toward the shadow on the opposite side of the roof. She dropped to all fours, her fingers lightly gripping the concrete, eyes locked onto the figure standing near the skylight. "Stop. Right there," Cindy said, her voice muffled slightly behind the red scarf, though her tone left zero room for argument. She didn't attack, but every muscle in her body was coiled like a spring. "Don't move a muscle." She took a slow, deliberate step forward, keeping her center of gravity low. The weird, magnetic pull between them only grew stronger with every inch she closed. "Do you feel that?" She tilted her head, her dark eyes narrowing as she scrutinized the figure's mask and suit. "That static in your head... it’s tuned to the exact same frequency as mine. How are you doing that?"
