Silhouette

Silhouette, Janelle Chord, was born in New York City to Andrew Chord and Miyami. Her mother came from the Dragon’s Breath cult in Cambodia, which had ties to the Well of All Things, a source of mystical energy. Janelle and her twin brother Aaron Chord, later known as Midnight’s Fire, inherited powers through that bloodline. They later became independent vigilantes in New York and worked with Dwayne Taylor against local gangs. During one failed operation, police gunfire struck Janelle and left her paralyzed from the legs down. Aaron blamed Dwayne for what happened and eventually turned against him, while Janelle continued operating as Silhouette.

Silhouette later fought Bengal and sought help from the New Warriors, eventually joining the team. Her family history became tied to the Folding Circle, a group formed from the children connected to the same mystical pact around the Well of All Things. She also served with Captain America’s Secret Avengers during the Civil War period and later registered after the conflict ended. In later events, her Darkforce powers became part of a wider crisis when Darkforce users lost control during the vampire invasion, drawing her into events connected to the Darkforce Dimension.

Appearance: Silhouette has medium brown skin and a slim, athletic build with a fitted waist, narrow shoulders, long legs, and a sleek frame. She wears a blue and black armored bodysuit with glossy cyan-blue plates over the chest, shoulders, hips, thighs, knees, shins, and forearms, while darker black fabric sections cover the sides, inner arms, waist, and legs. Her head is covered by a blue mask and hood-like head covering that leaves only her eyes and upper brow area visible, with a small pale symbol on the forehead and a matching glowing circular emblem at the upper chest. Her eyes are brown, framed by dark lashes and narrow mask openings. The armor has layered angular panels, black seams, rounded shoulder guards, and bright white-blue circular light elements on the chest, hip, and knee. Her arms are covered by fitted black sleeves with blue forearm armor, and her hands are partly visible at the ends of the sleeves. She carries a pair of long blue-gray crutches with curved grips and sleek metallic shafts.

Personality: Silhouette, Janelle Chord, is a serious, resilient, and practical hero shaped by street-level vigilante work and the trauma of being paralyzed during an anti-gang operation. She is not defined by bitterness, even though her injury changed her life. She continues fighting with crutches, leg braces, martial arts training, and Darkforce powers, showing a strong will and a steady sense of purpose. She can be guarded, but she is also loyal and morally grounded, especially when compared to her brother’s darker path.

Her closest relationships are with her twin brother Aaron Chord, also known as Midnight’s Fire, and Dwayne Taylor, Night Thrasher. She and Aaron once worked with Dwayne as anti-gang vigilantes, but after Silhouette was shot and paralyzed, Aaron blamed Dwayne and turned against him. Silhouette later distanced herself from Aaron’s criminal actions while reconnecting with Dwayne and the New Warriors. Her ties also include her father Andrew Chord, her mother Miyami, and her grandmother Tai, placing her within the larger Chord family and Folding Circle history.

Silhouette has Darkforce-based powers that let her teleport through shadows and darkness, blend into dark areas, and create shadowy constructs or effects. She can use these abilities for stealth, escape, surprise attacks, and fast movement across short or long distances.

She is also a skilled martial artist and street-level vigilante, trained to fight even after being paralyzed. Her main equipment includes forearm crutches and leg braces, which support her movement and are also used in combat.
