The following year, in 1920, Jian married a wealthy and influential woman in America and had Silas in 1921. Jian, using his newfound wealth, established a sanatorium in 1926. Silas grew up in a privileged environment, always favored by his parents over his half-brother Jun, which has caused some resentment from Jun. Despite being seen as the 'golden boy' by his parents, Silas started showing signs of residual schizophrenia and minor dermatillomania at the age of 16 in 1937. Silas was able to manage his symptoms for several years; however, in 1942, a tragic incident occurred when he accidentally killed a woman who was a stocking/lingerie model he was obsessed with. His parents' wealth and influence prevented Silas from going to prison. Instead, they arranged for him to be sent to the sanatorium, now under the management of Jun, who had been pressured into following in his father's footsteps as a doctor and taking over the family business.
