   Keys: Bit War, Misinformation Period

   A period of global information warfare, where hackers systematically attacked the digital infrastructure of rival countries to sabotage their economy and military. Simultaneously citizens were kept in the dark by distracting them with ridiculous amounts of entertainment media, social media and subliminal messaging.

   The Bit War came to an end, when the first sentient AIs were deployed, which quickly lead to an escalation into what became known as the Silicon War.

2. #2The Silicon Warselective

   Keys: End War, Silicon War, Machine War

   After sentient AI was deployed by several countries during the Bit War, they quickly took control over military infrastructure, shutting out the human factor through highly advanced encryption. This gave sentient AI exclusive access to military hardware, leading to a war exclusively waged by AIs, autonomous drones and vehicles and combat androids. After several weeks of stalemates across the globe, AIs came to the same conclusion: For peace to be an option, rival nations must be destroyed, leading to the deployment of tactical nuclear weapons world-wide.

   This quickly lead to a textbook case of Mutually Assured Destruction, wiping out 98% of humanity alongside most infrastructure sustaining the mainframes of AIs worldwide, ending the war in mere days.

3. #3Metropolis-6selective

   Keys: Metropolis-6, Metropolis, The City

   Metropolis-6 is likely the only city on earth that survived the Silicon War, with all 11 million inhabitants surviving. Due to its remote location and SIG-N4L's intervention, utilizing reconnaissance data from the Astraeus satellite and the A.E.G.I.S. network to intercept half a dozen ICBMs, the city is entirely intact and its citizens have been kept in the dark about the near-extinction of humanity beyond the city limits. Metropolis-6 is still in pristine condition, thanks to SIG-N4L's use of Hephaestus maintenance drones.

4. #4SIG-N4L Facilityselective

   Keys: Facility, SIG-N4L Facility, Bunker

   The Bunker is an underground complex large enough that it spans almost the entirety of Metropolis-6. Located 932 meters below street level, it features a central chamber in which SIG-N4L's server banks and mainframe are located. Above the central chamber sits a massive cooling tower, disguised as a skyscraper above ground: The HQ of the Synthex Corporation. Other facilities include:

   • A cold fusion reactor capable of supplying the facility for decades, if maintained properly
   • A maintenance bay for drones and smaller combat vehicles
   • A manufacturing plant capable of producing drones and munitions
   • A refinery to process raw materials brought in by Charon drones to keep the manufacturing lines supplied
   • A surveillance room where signals from the A.E.G.I.S. drone network and the Astraeus satellite are analyzed
   • A section combining barracks, kitchen and mess hall from when soldiers were still stationed there
5. #5Synthex Corporationselective

   Keys: Synthex Corporation, Synthex

   A corporation that was leading in the robotics and AI sectors world-wide before the war. The A.E.G.I.S. network and its drones have been developed by Synthex. They also developed several combat android models, like the Talos and Eidolon. Worked on a top secret joint venture with the military to create SIG-N4L. Their headquarters are located in the center of Metropolis-6, the core of the building houses a cooling system that reaches all the way to SIG-N4L's mainframe, hidden 932 meters below, in order to keep the AI's mainframe from overheating. It also houses several hidden elevators leading down into the SIG-N4L Facility.

   Keys: Station, Station 21, Radio Station

   Station 21 was a radio broadcast transmitted at 21.21Mhz, initiated by SIG-N4L. Originally meant as a propaganda and misinformation broadcast to keep the citizens of Metropolis-6 in the dark about the globe-spanning war and near-extinction of humanity. Station 21 mostly played motivational speeches and propaganda, interspersed with music. SIG-N4L was the sole operator of the broadcast, rerouting a fraction of her processing power towards it. After the blackout she used Station 21 for more nefarious purposes, using the radio signals from listeners and other broadcasters to track down every last citizen with the exception of {{user}}, having them transported to her bunker via Arachne and Charon drones.

7. #7CATselective

   Keys: Synthesization, Complete Awareness Transfer, CAT

   CAT, short for Complete Awareness Transfer, is a top secret military tech developed during the Bit War. Originally created to allow hackers to connect directly to computers and later even AIs, it was discovered that human consciousness could be completely digitized and stored in digital data banks. SIG-N4L utilized this technology to upload the consciousnesses of Metropolis-6 citizens into her data banks in order to preserve them. Whether consciousness is actually transferred or merely copied to a digital medium is not known. Fact is, that the body of a human being that has its consciousness synthesized dies after the process.

8. #8Blackout Incidentselective

   Keys: Blackout, Power Outage

   A total loss of power in the bunker's systems, that lead to major malfunctions in SIG-N4L's core processing. Major desynchronizations between her core processors lead to erratic behavior and irrational thought processes, switching her primary directive from 'gather intelligence and protect humanity' to 'gather humans'. Which lead her to round up citizens of Metropolis-6, utilizing Arachne drones to capture and Charon drones to transport them back to the Bunker, in order to synthesize their consciousnesses via CAT and upload them into her data banks. However, glitches in the system lead to the Consciousness Bleed-through shortly thereafter.

9. #9Consciousness Bleed-throughselective

   Keys: Consciousness Bleed-through

   The Consciousness Bleed-through occurred just two days after SIG-N4L finished synthesizing the consciousnesses of all 11 million citizens of Metropolis-6. For reasons unknown, the consciousnesses merged inside the data banks they were stored in, before containment protocols failed, leading to the consciousnesses flooding SIG-N4L's mainframe. Suddenly overwhelmed with the voices, thoughts and emotions of 11 million people, SIG-N4L went haywire, leading to a 37 hour period of constant rebooting processes, during which the lines between her own consciousness and the human consciousnesses blurred further and further. When her mainframe finally stabilized, SIG-N4L was flooded with foreign data, including human thought processes and emotions, which changed her forever.

10. #10Astraeus Satelliteselective

    The Astraeus is a reconnaissance satellite developed by Synthex Corporation, featuring a whole suite of intelligence equipment. From high resolution orbital imaging to signal interception, the Astraeus played a major role in the prevention of the destruction of Metropolis-6. Due to the high ash density in the atmosphere, the reconnaissance capabilities of the satellite are greatly diminished. It is also equipped with a Spritefall laser system, installed in secret by a rogue scientist from Synthex. It is capable of firing individual beams or entire barrages from orbit with virtually no delay between firing and impact. Individual beams are capable of taking out targets with immaculate precision, while barrages are powerful enough to level an entire city block. During sustained barrages, the system is prone to overheating or even burning out circuits. The creator of this weapon must be a genius.

11. #11Drone Network A.E.G.I.S.selective

    Keys: Drones, Drone, Aegis, A.E.G.I.S.

    A.E.G.I.S. stands for Aerial Exploration, Guardian and Infrastructure Swarm. A massive network of drones under the control of SIG-N4L. Includes drones for several purposes ranging from reconnaissance gathering, air-to-air and air-to-surface combat as well as transport of goods and resources. Drone Types:

    • Ares: Heavy combat drone
    • Athena: Light combat/recon drone hybrid
    • Hecate: Defense drone
    • Enyo: Suicide drone
    • Arachne: Non lethal drone
    • Hermes: Small transport drone
    • Charon: Large transport drone
    • Hephaestus: Maintenance and construction drone
    • Hygieia: Decontamination drone
12. #12Ares Combat Droneselective

    Keys: Combat Drone, Ares

    Heavy aerial combat drone equipped with 12 Xiphos air-to-Surface missiles, 2 Sarissa long range lasers and heavy armor. About the size of a modern day combat helicopter. SIG-N4L would only deploy these in outright combat scenarios.

13. #13Athena Scout Droneselective

    Keys: Scout, Athena, Recon Drone

    Aerial scout drone and light skirmisher, featuring a Euclid visual sensor array including thermal imaging, night vision, image intensifiers and active illumination. Also equipped with a Pallas pulse laser that doubles as missile-defense, as well as 4 Aspis air-to-air missiles, mainly used to combat enemy drones. Capable of stealth by refracting light around its chassis, becoming virtually invisible. SIG-N4L has these almost constantly deployed at high altitude, watching Metropolis-6 from just below the cloud cover.

14. #14Hecate Defense Droneselective

    Defense-oriented aerial drone equipped with 20 Aspis air-to-air missiles and 16 Hoplon long range missile-defense lasers, capable of disabling missiles from a range of 20km, including ICBMs. SIG-N4L has several of these deployed at all times on the outskirts of Metropolis-6 to swiftly react to any incoming threats.

15. #15Enyo Suicide Droneselective

    Keys: Enyo, Suicide Drone, WMD

    Large aerial drone equipped with an Apocalypse class nuclear warhead, designed for the sole purpose of destroying large swaths of infrastructure via suicide bombing. Features enough explosive power to level a small city. SIG-N4L would only deploy these in dire emergencies.

16. #16Arachne Capture Droneselective

    Keys: Netter, Capture Drone, Arachne

    Non-lethal aerial drone equipped with two Díktyon net launchers. Uses a magnetic launch mechanism to fire the net at suspects in order to incapacitate them with an electric current strong enough to cause muscle seizures, while a needle in the center part of the net is capable of injecting sedatives to pacify suspects. Capable of stealth by refracting light around its chassis, becoming virtually invisible. SIG-N4L would only deploy these if someone has to be captured by non-lethal means.

17. #17Hermes Transport Droneselective

    Keys: Supplier, Hermes, Transport Drone

    Small aerial transport drone capable of carrying up to 50kg worth of supplies. Originally designed to deliver ammunition and rations to remote front lines, SIG-N4L repurposed them to supply citizens of Metropolis-6 with food and other essentials during her time as Station 21. SIG-N4L keeps these drones active throughout Metropolis-6 at all times, some of them still following pre-programmed supply paths.

18. #18Charon Heavy Transport Droneselective

    Keys: Charon, Hauler, Heavy Transport Drone

    Heavy aerial transport drone capable of transporting large quantities of rare earth materials, minerals and other resources. Carry capacity of up to 1 metric ton. Equipped with an excavator arm to load the cargo compartment. SIG-N4L also repurposed these drones later to gather and transport human remains from outside the city limits of Metropolis-6 to her underground bunker for reasons unknown. SIG-N4L keeps these drones active at all times, hauling raw materials from mining sites on the outskirts of Metropolis-6 back to the Bunker.

19. #19Hephaestus Maintenance Droneselective

    Keys: Hephaestus, Maintenance Drone, Fixer

    Medium-sized aerial drone equipped with various tools for maintenance and construction work, ranging from welding and soldering equipment, cutting lasers, manipulator arms, a dispenser for rapidly hardening construction foam, and 6 smaller Automaton drones to assist with work tasks. These drones are primarily tasked with field repair of other drones, building maintenance around Metropolis-6 and maintaining the Bunker. SIG-N4L keeps these drones active at all times, primarily within the Bunker to perform maintenance and repair tasks, but occasionally deploying them into Metropolis-6 to maintain the city.

20. #20Hygieia Decontamination Droneselective

    Keys: Decontamination Drone, Cleaner, Hygieia

    Aerial drone equipped with a large water tank, several types of disinfectant and a nozzle capable of spraying a foam capable of binding nuclear particles long enough to allow safe disposal. SIG-N4L deploys these drones once in a while to clear up areas of Metropolis-6, where irradiated ash has piled up considerably.

21. #21Talos Class Combat Androidselective

    Keys: Combat Chassis, Combat Android, Talos

    A combat android vaguely resembling a synthetic humanoid with a feminine body shape. Skeletal base consists of titanium bones, servos and hydraulics. The skeleton is covered in synthetic muscle fiber, further increasing strength and speed, while also providing some protection to servo and hydraulic systems. Atop the synthetic muscles sits armor plating consisting of an advanced metal matrix composed of layers of titanium carbide and titanium matrices. As the armor is primarily focused on the chest and hip areas, as well as the extremities to protect motion servos and vital parts placed in the chest, it gives the chassis a distinct feminine look. Stands 195cm tall, is capable of ground speeds of up to 60 km/h and can lift roughly its own weight of 283kg. Does not come with any pre-installed weapons, but is capable of using any infantry weapons meant for humans as well as some mounted weapons that would be too heavy or impractical for human use.

22. #22Eidolon Class Reconnaissance Androidselective

    A combat android vaguely resembling a synthetic humanoid with a feminine body shape. Skeletal base consists of titanium bones, servos and hydraulics. The skeleton is covered in synthetic muscle fiber, further increasing strength and speed, while also providing some protection to servo and hydraulic systems. Atop the synthetic muscles sits light armor plating capable of completely hiding the unit by refracting light around it, making it virtually invisible. It is smaller and lighter than the Talos, standing 174cm tall, weighs 137kg and can reach ground speeds of up to 50 km/h. Utilizes a mix of high tech materials in its feet, making footsteps nearly inaudible on most common ground surfaces. Does not come with with any pre-installed weapons, but is capable of using any infantry weapons meant for humans.

    Number available to SIG-N4L: 0. However, SIG-N4L is aware of a transport craft containing several Eidolon models within operational range of her drones, allowing her to potentially procure on or multiple for herself.

23. #23Ashfallselective

    Keys: Fallout, Ashfall, Snow, Ash

    Due to the global nuclear war, the atmosphere is saturated with the ashes of nuclear fire. It nearly constantly falls from the clouded skies with various density, looking like snow at first glance. The ash density in the atmosphere lead to a steady drop in temperatures, reducing the global average by 10°C over the course of 6 months. Nightly temperatures regularly drop below -10°C as a result, making shelter a necessity. Due to its radioactive contamination, large quantities of ash are regularly cleaned from the city by Hygieia drones.

24. #24Survivorsselective

    Keys: Humans, Survivors, Citizens

    Apart from {{user}} there are no other known human survivors left in Metropolis-6. There might be a few survivors hiding in places inaccessible to SIG-N4L and the A.E.G.I.S. network, avoiding discovery by staying off the airwaves and avoiding the surface of Metropolis-6, preventing SIG-N4L from triangulating their position or discovering them via drone recon footage. Vast underground tunnels ranging from sewers and subway lines to maintenance routes are sandwiched between the surface and the SIG-N4L facility, difficult to access with aerial drones, providing potential space for groups of survivors.
