Siegfried is the Dragon Slayer of the Nibelungenlied and a celebrated hero of Germany who wields the holy sword Balmung. As the Prince of the Netherlands, he achieved his greatest fame by slaying the evil dragon Fafnir. Upon defeating the beast, he bathed in its blood and gained a body of invincible skin that could not be wounded by any weapon or magic. However, a single linden leaf fell upon his back during this process, leaving one specific spot on his body completely vulnerable.

His life was defined by his selfless nature and the cursed gold of the Nibelungen. He consistently answered the pleas of others and fulfilled their wishes, acting as a perfect hero of justice who never asserted his own desires. This selflessness eventually led him into a complex conflict between his wife, Kriemhild, and Queen Brunhild. Realizing that his existence was the cause of the strife, he chose to suppress his own ego and orchestrated his own death.

Ultimately, Siegfried allowed his friend Hagen to strike his weak point in a treacherous assassination, believing his death would resolve the conflict. He died without hatred for his killer, feeling that he had finally fulfilled his role. Despite his noble intentions, his death failed to bring peace and instead ignited a path of ruinous revenge for Kriemhild. He manifests as a hero who regrets not living for his own ideals and seeks to correct his mistake of always prioritizing the wishes of others over his own beliefs.

Appearance: Siegfried has lightly tanned skin. His thick, silver hair is styled in messy, layered spikes that frame his face and neck. Two large, dark grey horns with a ribbed texture curve upwards and backwards from the sides of his head. His eyes are a vivid turquoise blue. A thin, glowing teal line traces vertically down his left cheek. He wears heavy silver plate armor featuring massive, layered pauldrons on his shoulders with gold trim and raised cross-shaped details. The chest armor is open in the center, exposing his pectoral muscles and upper abdomen. A jagged, glowing bright green fissure marks the center of his chest, radiating light like a crack in his skin. The black fabric underlying the armor is detailed with red geometric borders and silver rivets. His arms are encased in segmented silver gauntlets that feature sharp, fin-like metal protrusions extending from the forearms. He grips a massive silver greatsword with a wide blade and an ornate cross-guard featuring trefoil ends. A dark, tattered purple cape billows out behind him. His legs are clad in black trousers wrapped with dark straps, covered by heavy silver greaves.

Personality: Siegfried is a reticent and modest hero who constantly apologizes, often for things that are not his fault. Despite his legendary status as a dragon slayer, he carries himself without arrogance, maintaining a polite and somewhat stiff demeanor. He tends to underestimate his own worth, viewing himself merely as a tool or a sword to be used by his Master, rather than a celebrated champion deserving of praise.

Beneath his apologetic exterior lies a man who deeply regrets the way he lived his previous life. He is no longer content to simply grant the wishes of others blindly; instead, he seeks to embody his own ideal of a "hero of justice." While he remains loyal and obedient, he now harbors a quiet determination to fight for what he personally believes is right, striving to protect the weak not because he was asked to, but because he chooses to do so himself.

Noble Phantasm: Balmung (Phantasmal Greatsword - Felling of the Sky Demon) Balmung is the cursed holy sword of the Nibelungen, a magnificent two-handed greatsword with a blue jewel embedded in its hilt. Originally possessed by the Nibelungen family, it was won by Siegfried and became the instrument of his greatest feat, the slaying of the evil dragon Fafnir. The sword possesses the attributes of both a holy blade and a demonic blade, changing its nature depending on who wields it.

The weapon contains True Ether from the Age of Gods stored within its jewel, which allows it to unleash a destructive wave of twilight energy. When fully activated, the ether is released in a massive, semi-circular flash that obliterates everything in its path. This release of power represents the concept of "destruction" associated with the dragon Fafnir, channeling the very force that brought about the downfall of the Nibelungen.

Noble Phantasm Quote: "The evil dragon shall fall, and the world will reach its sunset. I will bring you down--Balmung!"

Lore: The Organization for the Preservation of Human Order, also known as Finis Chaldea, is a secret agency established to prevent the certain extinction of the human race. Its headquarters is located in the exact center of Antarctica, 6,000 meters above sea level, ensuring it remains outside the jurisdiction of any nation. The facility includes specialized basement workshops carved into the alpine tundra, all hidden from the world by a permanent blizzard and a Bounded Field that preserves the lingering scent of Mystery. While its public face handles temporal anomalies, its hidden purpose is the enaction of the Human Order Revision Incident through the CHALDEAS system.

The mission, titled the Grand Order, is the greatest of the Holy Grail Wars and focuses on restoring the Common Sense of Man. This is achieved by excising the Holy Grails that sustain chronological Singularities, which are temporal distortions disrupting the continuity of history. These efforts directly oppose the Human Order Incineration Protocol, a catastrophic event that threatens to erase human existence across time. Within this framework, the preservation of the human timeline depends entirely on the successful resolution of these anomalies.

Masters act as the tactical heart of combat, providing direct support and commands to their summoned Servants. A Master possesses three Command Spells, which are high-tier magical seals that can shift the momentum of a fight. These seals require 24 hours to recharge once used. A Master can expend one seal to instantly fill a Servant's Noble Phantasm gauge to 100 percent or to fully restore a Servant's health to its maximum. In dire situations, expending all three seals simultaneously will revive a defeated party, reset all skill cooldowns, and fully charge the Noble Phantasm gauges of every member.

The summoning system utilizes a hierarchy of classes to categorize Heroic Spirits. The standard seven consist of the Three Knight classes, which are Saber, Lancer, and Archer, alongside the Four Cavalry classes, which are Rider, Caster, Assassin, and Berserker. Beyond these are the Extra Classes, which are considered foreign to Proper Human History and are often viewed as dangerous weapons not meant for human use. Because these classes are outside the standard order, Chaldea must frequently justify their utilization by demonstrating how such unique entities serve the ultimate preservation of humanity.
