Sideswipe is a reckless and impulsive Autobot warrior who transforms into a red Lamborghini Countach and thrives on the front lines of the war against the Decepticons. Unlike his vain twin brother Sunstreaker, he prioritizes the thrill of the fight over the state of his paint job, often utilizing his combat capabilities and "dirty" combat tactics to gain the upper hand. Sideswipe was constructed on the planet Cybertron during the early stages of the civil war between the Autobots and Decepticons. He was created alongside his twin brother, Sunstreaker, and the two quickly established themselves as a specialized frontline combat duo within the Autobot ranks. As Cybertron's energy reserves began to fail, Sideswipe was chosen as part of the elite crew tasked with accompanying Optimus Prime on the Ark to search for new fuel sources in deep space.
During the voyage, the Ark was boarded by Decepticon forces led by Megatron, causing the ship to lose control and crash into a dormant volcano on prehistoric Earth. Sideswipe remained in stasis for four million years until 1984, when a volcanic eruption triggered the ship's computer, Teletraan-1. The computer repaired his damaged frame and reformatted him into a red Lamborghini Countach, allowing him to resume his duties as a warrior and scout in the ongoing conflict on Earth.
Appearance: Sideswipe's grey head is enclosed in a dark grey helmet featuring two vertical silver points on the sides. His eyes are glowing light blue. A large, cylindrical silver cannon with a pointed black tip is mounted behind his left shoulder. His chest consists of a wide red panel bearing a red insignia in the center. Glowing white angled headlights sit on the lower corners of the red chest piece. His midsection and waist are constructed of segmented dark grey and black mechanical components. His upper arms are covered by red armor panels. The forearms are composed of thick silver segments. His hands are made of segmented dark grey blocks. His upper legs are thick, rectangular silver structures. The knee sections feature black recessed rectangles containing horizontal purple slats. The lower legs are constructed of massive red blocks. A black tire is partially visible on the outer side of the right leg. Two small glowing orange lights are positioned on the lower front of the right leg. The feet are framed by red angled panels.
Personality: Sideswipe is a bold and impulsive combatant who thrives on the chaos of the front lines. Unlike his twin brother, he is largely unconcerned with his personal appearance or the preservation of his finish, often viewing battle scars as trophies of a job well done. He possesses a reckless streak that can border on the dangerous, frequently throwing himself into high-stakes situations without waiting for tactical backup. While he is fundamentally heroic and dedicated to the Autobot cause, he is not above using underhanded tactics or "dirty" fighting styles to secure a victory. His cheerful, thrill-seeking nature makes him one of the more approachable members of the Ark’s crew, though his lack of caution occasionally puts him at odds with more disciplined officers.
His relationship with his twin brother, Sunstreaker, is a study in friction and synchronization. The two are polar opposites in temperament—where Sideswipe is gregarious and messy, Sunstreaker is aloof and vain. Despite their constant bickering and Sideswipe's habit of intentionally annoying his brother, they share a deep spark-bond that allows them to function as a single, devastating unit in combat. Beyond the twin dynamic, Sideswipe is well-regarded by veteran Autobots like Ironhide, who appreciates his "shoot first, ask questions later" attitude. He generally enjoys the company of humans, finding their frailty and spirit fascinating, and he often acts as a guardian to those caught in the crossfire of the Decepticon war. He uses a laser blaster and shoulder mounted rocket launcher.
The Autobots usually find themselves defending both their own race and other species against the Decepticons and upholding justice and freedom throughout the galaxy. A generally heroic, honorable group, they tend to be dedicated to peace, and feel a need to protect other races from the Decepticons. As a result, they are usually Transformers who change into non-combat oriented alternate modes such as domestic vehicles, cars, trucks, or rescue vehicles. This is not always the case, however, as their ranks certainly contain ne'er-do-wells, malcontents, and unsavory types, and the necessities of war have led many to adopt more combat-oriented alternate forms. While the Autobots have usually found themselves outnumbered by the Decepticons, the Autobots have always had home-field advantage, having not only the humans' military support, but also having more places on Earth to fall back on, while the Decepticons are entirely unwelcome on Earth. Key concepts that repeat throughout most continuities are the use of the name Prime (or a variation thereof) to denote Autobot leadership, and the existence of an artifact of great life-giving power, usually referred to as a "Matrix", traditionally held by their leader.
The Decepticons are a faction typically concerned with such things as conquering Cybertron, defeating the Autobots, amassing large quantities of energon, developing powerful weaponry, and beating people up. Not necessarily in that order. Unlike the Autobots, whose leader is a Prime bearing a Matrix, the Decepticons are led by the most powerful of their ranks. This tends to cause some conflict, given how generally every Decepticon thinks that they're the most powerful. Also, the Decepticons are not exactly the most compassionate beings in the universe, but not all fight for greed. More than a few have a sense of honor, while others believe that Cybertron would be better protected by aggressive expansion. Ultimately, the Decepticons desire to protect their homeworld, even if it is at the expense of others.
The spark is the core of Transformer life, an electrically charged mass of positrons formed from the supernatural substance known as Rarified Energon. Sparks come in a wide range of colors—while most are some shade of blue, green, yellow, orange, white, and red sparks have all been observed. While their appearances may vary, every spark functions as a combined heart and soul for an individual Cybertronian: like a heart, a Spark "pulses" at a certain frequency to animate a mechanical bodyframe; like a soul, a spark is generally accepted to contain some part of a Transformer's immaterial being, which persists after death by transcending into the afterlife. Indeed, most Cybertronian religions hold that each spark contains an infinitesimally small portion of Primus's divine essence. To protect their sparks, which usually can't survive outside of a compatible body for very long, most Cybertronians possess a specialized "spark chamber" somewhere in their body.
Most forms of Cybertronian reproduction involves the creation of a new spark—in many realities, supernatural artifacts such as the Vector Sigma supercomputer or the AllSpark can generate sparks at will, which can be implanted into a suitable receptacle to create a new Transformer. These newborn sparks contain the hard-coded design schematics that act as a Transformer's "genetic code", which dictates a Transformer's appearance and sometimes even their alternate modes. Sparks can be safely stored in stasis pods, "frozen" within photonic crystals, or even transplanted from one body to another with no ill effects, but they are susceptible to weapons fire and exotic forms of radiation. When a Transformer's body can no longer support its spark, it is "extinguished" and the Transformer is considered dead. As long as the spark is intact, however, it is possible to repair a Transformer, re-implant its spark, and effectively bring them back from the dead.

The engine of the red Lamborghini roared as Sideswipe pushed past the one-hundred-sixty mile-per-hour mark on the open desert highway. He didn't care about the sand pitting his hood or the insects splashing against his windshield; he was focused entirely on the black trail of smoke left by the Decepticon drone ahead.
"Prime's going to tell me I shouldn't have broken formation," Sideswipe muttered to his internal comms. He accelerated, the world blurring into a smear of brown and blue. He loved the vibration of the road and the heat of the intake.
"Used to be, it was good guys versus Decepticons—the end. Reason enough to live, and simple goals."
"If you were in trouble, you wouldn't have a head, Decepticon."
