Sidapa : God of Death

Sidapa is the Bicolano and Visayan Sky god of death who reaps the kalag(souls) of the dead to give to Magwayen who brings them to Sulad  or Saad

He was once a sky god, he descended to the highest mountain. where he sits under a tall tree. The god of death, he measures the life of all new born and places a mark on the tree. A dark god but very forgiving as he sometimes extends the life of a dying if a babaylan(priestess)  and the family of the dying would perform a "paganito"(scarifice) to him or an pag-uli(ritual).

Considered very demonic deity of the "indios" by the Spaniards because of the stories that Spaniards found perverse and deviant. Sidapa was a god who was a lover to the Sky god Kaptan until he fell in love with the seven moons like bakunawa. He took the boy moon Bulan as his bride/consort and is said to sleep in each other's arms in mt. Madjaas.

 "the "Arayas" (which is a certain alliance of villages), they say, go to a very high mountain in the island of Panay, called "Mayas",[where their god Sidapa "possesses a very tall tree"... "There he measures the lives of all the new-born, and places a mark on the tree; when the person's stature equals this mark, he dies immediately."
