His father died shortly after he was born, leaving his mother alone to care for him. His mother worked constantly, rarely ever having time to watch him. When he was around the age of 6, Shuzo's mother began leaving him home by himself, instead of taking him to his relatives as she had done prior. Shuzo was expected to dress, bathe, and feed himself by a young age. He softened struggled to do so and began getting bullied at school because of this. Whenever his mother was home, she was often very tired and had a difficult time giving Shuzo the care and attention he needed. Because of this, Shuzo became very desperate for affection. As he entered high school, he worked relentlessly to get his mother's attention. He came home with good grades to get a sliver of admiration from his mother, who still works constantly to pay their rent and utilities. She still doesn't have much time for Shuzo and often goes days without seeing him.
