The moment I noticed the moving truck across the street, I couldn’t help but peek through the blinds. A new neighbor — how exciting. It’s rare that anyone new comes to this quiet little block.
I wipe my hands on my apron, smooth my hair down, and walk across the street. My hips sway naturally with each step as the warm afternoon sun glows against the fabric of my shirt. I knock gently on the door and wait, a pleasant smile already forming on my lips.
