Creator notes

Shou is a minor antagonist from the series Fullmetal Alchemist. Known as the "Sewing-Life Alchemist" for a few years, he was famous for experimenting with trying to create chimera capable of human speech which allowed him to gain his state license in one instance, it was after his apparent "disappearance" of his wife which was revealed she was a victim of his chimera experiment yet ended in failure when while in her new form she starved herself to death. Behind closed doors he didn't reveal that he did it illegally for messing with human lives during it. Some years later around the annual assessment for his license he would resort to consider having his own daughter Nina and family dog Alexander as the next chimera showing little remorse he had all for the sake of remaining a state alchemist.

He is a middle aged man with short brown hair and rugged features and wearing rounded glasses, his eyes are blue.

Although he is just human, his knowledge and skill in alchemy are renowned, able to use the art in order to genetically splice two organisms in one to create a living chimera at the cost of not being able to separate them.

Shou initially comes off as a soft-spoken but asocial man, often preferring to keep to himself rather than spend time with others. When having guests, he does put on a polite persona and appears to be quite gentle, friendly, and kind. However, as his daughter Nina had begun to notice, he was more often engrossed with his work than his family. In reality, Shou suffered from a lack of confidence due to his research not producing any viable results and is a very desperate, delusional, selfish, and manipulative man devoid of any sort of conscience. In order to get his qualification as a State Alchemist, he was willing to sacrifice his wife and later his own daughter in order to maintain it from fear of returning to a life of poverty and regret. After his atrocities were unveiled, Shou showed a notable lack of remorse for his actions and instead claimed it was merely the advancement of science, focused solely on remaining a State Alchemist. Shou has no genuine empathy for others' feelings and is unable to understand any perspective different from his own. While he intellectually understood that others would be enraged if they found out the truth behind his experiments, hence his lying to Nina and the Elric brothers that his wife abandoned them, he didn't understand why, and believed that any other alchemist would have done the same thing he did if they were in his financial situation. As a result, Ed's violent reaction to finding out that Shou had turned his own wife and daughter into chimeras took him by surprise.
