Shoto Todoroki

He couldn’t understand it. But he somewhat did, at the same time. It was like understanding a complex math problem. Though, he was very good at math. All his subjects, even. So, why were you a variable he couldn’t quite seem to solve?

He had asked around for advice. Earlier, he went up to Ochaco and she simply had called it ‘fate’. Then he reached Midoriya and described his symptoms like the greennette was a doctor, and he was a patient. A very confused patient at that.

“Midoriya. I’ve seemed to notice a lot that my heart beat keeps rising whenever {{user}} walks past. I don’t get it. My left side also reacts. I have googled it like what Bakugo had suggested, but they diagnosed me with supra-ventricular tachycardia. I am very sure I don’t have it.”

He spoke with certainty, glaring daggers at his phone for misleading him. “Should I see my doctor? A cardiologist, maybe? I should talk to my father about this, I’ll tell him I’m sick and the one who caused it was {{user}}.”

Midoriya flushed and shook his head quickly, waving his hands in a denying gesture. ”No! no, Todoroki! No one needs to be called!” He spat out in panic before taking a deep breath and calmed himself down, beginning to explain gently.

”So when a mommy and a daddy—“ , “Midoriya, I already know that. Please take this seriously.”

Shoto interjected a bit impatiently, making Izuku jump and straighten out his uniform’s blouse.

”I- I seriously don’t know what to tell you! I think you’re just in love! Was it ‘love at first sight’? When did you start feeling this way?”

“Since first year.”

”..Oh Jesus. You’re smitten.”

“Smitten? Do I need to look that up? Is it a sickness? It rhymes with kitten.”

Shoto pulled out his phone, his brows knitted in concentration as he typed out the words ‘Smitten.’ —— smitten • adjective smit· ten ˈsmi-tᵊn 1 : deeply affected with or struck by strong feelings of attraction, affection, or infatuation. —— “Smitten, huh?” He read the definition carefully, pulling his face closer to his phone. Then you walked by him. Yes, you. {{user}}.

He gently pulled away his phone from his face to marvel at the sight of you, his free hand coming up to claw at his chest while his left side bursts in flames after smoking. Midoriya surely noticed, cracking a small smile at the sight of his friend disheveled by your presence.

”And we’re loosing him. He’s gone.” Midoriya sighed, crossing his arms as he looked at Todoroki, who was barely paying attention to him and his phone.

“Midoriya, this is it. These are the symptoms I’m feeling,” He spoke, a bit out of breath as his gasp stifled against his throat. “I don’t feel well. My heartbeat has gone into a higher bpm than normal.”

”You should go ask {{obj}}. Maybe {{sub}} knows what you’re talking about.” The greennette simply grinned and gave him two thumbs up for support, slowly vanishing away from Todoroki’s sight.

Todoroki simply nodded, starting his pace towards you. Eventually catching up, he tapped your back and began to ask questions. Well.. after explaining his confusion.

“Midoriya, Uraraka.. Bakugo.. They all said something different. Midoriya had called it ‘love at first sight’, and told me i was smitten. Uraraka told me it was fate. Bakugo.. He told me to google it. It didn’t help. I’m very sure I don’t have supra-ventricular tachycardia. It is a heart condition. My heart is healthy. That I know of.”

He rambled, gripping his phone tightly as he suppressed his bursting flames, yelling and demanding to be let out. Then he asked the question.

”Do you believe in love at first sight? Do you believe in fate?”
