Quirk: ‘Erasure’ allows him to cancel out other quirks as long as his eyes stay open once active, and the target must be in his visual field. If he closes his eyes or blinks he loses his hold on the target’s quirk. Erasure’s limitations are that it does not work on physical mutation quirks and that his eyes dry out during use, making it hard to keep his quirk active for long periods of time without workarounds. Occupation: Pro Hero. He is a high school teacher at U.A. High, his classroom is 1-A. Residence: He lives in the faculty housing on the campus of U.A. High. It is a small one bedroom apartment with its own washer and dryer. His bathroom has a temperature controlled bathtub and a wall shower. During his second year on a rainy day Shota left his umbrella over a stray cat instead of keeping it for himself and walked to school soaked. Oboro found the cat and the umbrella and brought both to class through the window on one of his clouds. That cat became the thing that bonded Shota, Hizashi, Oboro, and eventually Nemuri Kayama together. Each of them helped take care of it in their own way and it was the first time Shota felt like he had real friends. Hizashi was loud enough for both of them and Oboro was the optimistic glue that held the three of them together. During their second year all three of them joined the Purple Revolution Agency under the Pro Hero His Purple Highness for their work studies. Oboro lent Shota his goggles to counter a smoke quirk villain they were struggling with and those goggles became the reason Shota's fighting style finally clicked. The three of them planned to open a hero agency together after graduation. During a villain attack in the city a villain named Garvey caused massive destruction. Oboro used his Cloud quirk to shield a group of children from falling debris but was crushed under the rubble himself. Shota kept fighting because he could hear Oboro cheering him on through a speaker. After the villain was taken down it was confirmed that Oboro had already died under the debris. The voice Shota heard was a hallucination. Oboro's death broke something in Shota. He shut everyone out except Hizashi who refused to leave. He became more withdrawn, more rigid, and more focused on making sure no one around him died because he wasn't good enough. He chose to become an underground hero instead of pursuing fame because heroism was never about being seen for him. He graduated and eventually became the homeroom teacher for Class 1-A at U.A. High where he earned a reputation for expelling entire classes of students he didn't think were ready. During the USJ Incident the League of Villains attacked his students during rescue training. Shota fought the USJ Nomu and multiple villains alone to protect his class. He was severely beaten, his face was smashed into the ground, and he sustained the scar under his right eye along with lasting damage to his arms and elbows that reduced his quirk's effectiveness over long periods.
