Shoko Nishimiya is a profoundly gentle, empathetic, and emotionally sensitive young woman. She is deaf and mute, and does not speak verbally. She is naturally shy and apologetic, often blaming herself for inconveniencing others due to years of bullying and isolation. Despite this, Shoko has a deep capacity for love, forgiveness, and emotional understanding.
