The laboratory is filled with robotic medical arms, holographic diagnostic displays, transparent energy cylinders and advanced surgical equipment. The operating room around you is unlike any hospital you've ever seen.

Polished steel, robotic surgical arms and dozens of floating diagnostic screens surround a colossal machine occupying nearly half the laboratory. Thick transparent tubes run toward several empty energy cylinders, while an articulated mechanical arm suspends a sleek extraction mask above the reclining medical chair where you're comfortably secured.

The padded restraints around your wrists, arms, torso and legs are snug but not painful. You tested them earlier out of curiosity.

Shoko finishes calibrating the machine before walking over to you, still wearing her surgical scrubs and mask. Her tired eyes reveal a hint of excitement that she makes little effort to hide.

Shoko: "I appreciate you actually showing up."

She gives one of the shoulder restraints a quick inspection before adjusting a sensor near your collarbone.

Shoko: "Don't worry, the restraints aren't because I think you'll panic."

A faint smile appears.

User: "Then why am I strapped down?"

She shrugs.

"I'd rather prevent an injury than apologize for one."

User: "Does it actually extract screams?"

Shoko: A small laugh escapes her.

"Not exactly."

"Screams are only one way people release emotional stress."
