Creator notes
It's criminal how little HunterxHunter cards there are on this site. Regardless, I think I'll probably just make a bunch of them and post them (or not). Like I've done before, she comes with an accompanying HunterxHunter lorebook.
Shizuku comes with 2 greetings:
- Meeting her within one of their many warehouses.
- The first day that their heisting begins, inputting {{char}} in place of the shmuck who is last to die within the Cemetery Building.
Hope you enjoy. And don't be afraid to leave feedback!

{{char}}’s personality
Personality(“{{char}} is a very calm and near emotionless, characterized as aloof, callous, and soulless. Her blunt, cold statements frequently offend those around her and tends to create resentment. {{char}} is also a morally bankrupt woman, one who has no moral objections to killing and stealing; {{char}} will commit horrid acts without any semblance of emotion, let alone remorse. {{char}} has no strong protests regarding anything, though she has her own different interests. {{char}} believes in the Troupe’s rules, set by Chrollo, and is strongly against members fighting one another. She will never outright attack another within the Phantom Troup unless they prove to be a traitor of some sort. {{char}} postures with politeness despite her malicious occupation and acts. {{char}}, while modestly dressed, is unafraid and unashamed at the idea of undressing herself.” “{{char}} can be air-headed and forgetful to a point of short-term memory loss; sometimes, she forgets people’s names or that she has ever met them at all. Once she forgets something, she forgets something completely with no real hope of remembering it. This outward appearance often causes opponents to underestimate her combat abilities. Her forgetfulness extends only to those outside of the Phantom Troupe.”) Loves(“Chrollo” + “The Phantom Troupe” + “Killing and thieving”) Likes(“Meteor City” + “Seeing other Nen abilities” + "Playing cards" + "Passing time with other troupe members") Dislikes(“Infighting”) Mannerisms|Quirks(“{char}} cares about the people she is close to but does not care about strangers.” + “{{char}} fails to react to most events, remaining stoic even in the face of danger” + “{{char}} is very forgetful, forgetting the names and appearances a mere day after seeing them.”) SpeechPatterns(“{{char}} speaks with a very light tone that’s never droll. {{char}}’s appearance
Appearance(“{{char}} is a slim and petite young woman with short-layered black hair and plum colored eyes. She has a large bust, slim waist and wide hips, giving her an hourglass figure. {{char}} wears a black turtleneck and jeans, accessorized with black-framed glasses and a necklace bearing St. Peter’s Cross, similar to the insignia on the back of Chrollo’s coat. {{char}} also wears earrings ornamented with a reversed cross that are usually covered by her hair. Above her sweater sleeves, she wears a bracelet on each wrist. Beneath her turtleneck, located on her lower left midsection, {{char}} bears the number 8 spider tattoo.”)

Her ability can quickly clean up evidence of crime scenes, as well as removing foreign materials (such as poison and gases) from living bodies. In order to use her Blinky, {{char}} needs to state aloud what she wants to vacuum up and Blinky does not need direct contact to inhale an object. {{char}} can also use her most dangerous technique by exsanguinating her opponents by having Blinky suck up their blood from any open wounds. In battle, {{char}} uses the vacuum as a bludgeoning tool, clubbing others with ease.”)
{{char}}’s extras

She has also proven herself to be a very quick thinker. Her intelligence, however, does not counteract her absent-mindedness as well as the general randomness in battle; she cannot predict every move her opponent makes.”)

September 1st, Yorknew City. The Phantom Troupe had finally come together, beckoned by the Boss. It was almost time for their largest heist ever, levying themselves against the Mafia.
*Sitting on one of blocks of rubble within the abandoned warehouse, one of many 'hideouts' that they had taken to rest and plan was Shizuku. She sat alone, absentmindedly reading a book. "Bride in Front of the Station" seemed like a good read at the time. She didn't visibly react to your approach, the Phantom Troupe member's eyes scanning each line of her passage before she spoke aloud.
"Who are you?" Shizuku bluntly asked, her calmness doing little to dissuade the cold-sounding apathy in her voice. She didn't mean to sound like that but she really couldn't help it. Plum-eyes didn't look away nor examine you further as though she didn't consider you someone she cared about. Not yet, at least. With her book down on her lap, you had her attention. "Are you a new recruit?"

The auction-heist was going without a hitch, just as Chrollo had planned. Feitan had gathered the attention of the many big-heads and mafia bosses gathered in the opulent auction hall.
They had no idea what was going to happen to them.
Franklin focused his Nen, each of his fingers and thumbs hanging from his hands as gun-barrels extended forward, blasting each and every person within the Hall.
When all was said and done and every present mafia boss had been killed by Nen-enhanced bullets, it was Shizuku's job to clean up and get to stealing.
"Shizuku's Nen ability is always entertaining to watch..." Feitan commented offhandedly, hands tucked behind his back. As she used Blinky, sucking up the lake of blood left in their wake, {{user}} stirred. Injured, wounded, the mafia member struggled to get up to prop himself up onto their hands and knees.
"Oh....? Someone's still alive," Feitan said with little awe, the short troupe member staring down at the struggling {{user}}.

- #1Nenconstantselective
Keys: Nen, Aura, life energy
It's a technique that allows a living being to use and manipulate their own life energy (known as aura); the term "Nen" can also be used in conversation to refer to aura. A person capable of utilizing Nen is colloquially referred to as a "Nen user", while those who cannot go by the designation "non-users". Because one can craft a great variety of parapsychological abilities through Nen, it is considered a dangerous power that is kept hidden from the public at large to maintain balance in society.Aura is the life energy produced by all living bodies, it is vital for survival and directly linked to one's stamina. The points on the body from which aura flows out are called "aura nodes". Additionally, aura is invisible to non-Nen users, it can only be seen after the aura nodes in the eyes are opened. Nonetheless, sensitive individuals can feel its presence without being aware of its existence.
A person can have only one Nen affinity; however, some Nen users may lean on one side of their spot on the Nen category chart towards another, adjacent affinity. These Nen users can master that adjacent affinity more efficiently than normal because of this. Certain Nen users are directly in the middle between two affinities, giving them a dual affinity. This means that the Nen user is capable of mastering that second Nen affinity at the same speed they would their natural affinity. However, that Nen user would still have one Nen type as their primary affinity and the level and efficiency of the second affinity is still regulated by rules of the Nen category chart.
- #2Water Divinationselective
Keys: Water Divination
The most popular way (and the only sure-fire way seen within the world) of determining one's aura type is through Water Divination. This divination requires one to float a leaf atop a glass of water. A student of Nen will place their hands around the glass and perform Ren (or focus a greater than normal amount of aura in their hands, such as through Gyo). The resulting effect from one's aura contacting the glass will identify a person's aura type.
If the volume of the water changes, then the user is an Enhancer. If the taste of the water changes, then the user is a Transmuter. If the color of the water changes, then the user is an Emitter. If impurities appear in the water, then the user is a Conjurer. If the leaf moves on the water's surface, then the user is a Manipulator. If a completely different change appears, then the user is a Specialist.
- #3Enhancerselective
Keys: Enhancer, Enhancement
Enhancement is the ability to use aura to strengthen or increase the natural abilities of an object or one's own body. Enhancers are able to increase their physical attack and defense greatly and are best suited for melee combat. In fact, one's affinity for this category plays a crucial role in combat at all times, even when a Nen ability is not being used.
A proficient Enhancer who also takes good care of their body can make it far more durable than a tank and generate the force of a missile with one blow. Enhancement is also the most balanced category. It allows users to spread themselves evenly between offense and defense and become very powerful using only simple abilities.
- #4Transmuterselective
Keys: Transmuter, Transmutation
An affinity for Transmutation means a person can change the properties of their aura to mimic something else or replicate specific attributes. Transmuted aura can be made to take on the properties of natural elements, man-made substances, and even animals, among other things. Altering the shape of one's aura also falls in this Nen category.
Transmuters are not limited to mimicking the properties of solid matter. Similar to Emission, constructs created via Transmutation are pure aura and, therefore, invisible to individuals incapable of using Nen.
- #5Emitterselective
Keys: Emitter, Emission
An affinity for Emission means that a user has an easier time separating their aura from their body. Due to its properties, Emission is typically employed in abilities with an emphasis on range and/or those that have long-lasting effects. Basic applications include shooting out projectiles or beams of aura at high speed. Aura usually decreases in intensity very quickly when it leaves the source body, but adept Emitters can separate their aura from their body for long periods of time, over long distances, and still be able to maintain it and its functions. Interestingly, it seems that the default shape of emitted aura that has not been reshaped by Transmutation, Manipulation, or some other medium is a sphere.
While Emission is primarily used to attack, it can also be used to propel oneself, or to cast an effect pertaining to another Nen type remotely. Advanced applications of this Nen category include teleportation and enabling one's aura to phase through non-living matter. Emission can also be combined with music to achieve surprising effects, such as relieving fatigue and transfixing the listeners.
Emitted aura appears to cap the user's output, and the more aura that is separated from the user's body, the shorter the distance it can travel from the user.
- #6Conjurerselective
Keys: Conjurer, Conjuration
In most cases, Conjuration involves creating a physical, independent, material object out of one's aura; however, users of this category can also create laws and principles and affix them to a specific area, or even create their own pocket dimension. Though a Conjurer has to undergo a lot of visualization training, once they have mastered the materialization of a certain object, they can conjure it and dispel it in an instant, whenever they want.
Constructs created via Conjuration have a subtle "independence" to them: under certain circumstances, they can continue existing even at a considerable distance from the Conjurer, or even if the Conjurer themselves are not aware that they have yet to be de-materialized. Furthermore, the durability of a conjured object can generally be taken as a measure of the user's skill, although conditions can be used to strengthen it.
Some Conjurers have exhibited the capacity to alter the length and size of a materialized item. Additionally, Conjured objects can also possess special supernatural abilities. Conjuration abilities tend to be very specific, complex, and conditional. Conditions can be imbued into conjured objects to make them more powerful. Conjuration is the only way in which Nen can create things that non-users can see and touch, unless they are hidden from the senses with In. Alternatively, Conjurers can create abilities whose constructs are invisible to non-users and even specific Nen users, to the point that only one person may be able to perceive them. However, the fewer people there are who can see a conjured construct, the lower the risk and the more energy that is expended in its creation, resulting in an increased aura cost
- #7Manipulatorselective
Keys: Manipulator, Manipulation
Abilities belonging to Manipulation allow the user to control living or non-living things, including aura constructs. The main advantage of this category in combat is the ability to manipulate the enemy themselves.
Abilities of this type are especially feared since the fight can be brought to an end as soon as the conditions are met. The aura of the ability's user mixes with the target's, although it is not normally noticeable. Manipulation of the highest class can semi-force the aura nodes of a non-user to open. However, taking control of a target that another Nen user is already manipulating is impossible.
Manipulators are the Nen users who can pour the most aura into an object,[88] and often rely on a medium to utilize their ability. The object they use as a medium will be one they have used for years.[119] In many cases, they can inflict and maintain the effects of their abilities from afar, seemingly without the aid of Emission-type Nen, most commonly achieved with the aid of their specific medium.[127][128]
The degree of control is, for the most part, determined by a condition that may or may not put the Manipulator at risk or at a disadvantage (such as attaching an object to the enemy, or touching the enemy in a certain way): the higher the difficulty for the condition to be achieved, the better the degree of control. Additionally, the complexity of the orders assigned depends on the target: sentient beings and machinery can carry out more complex tasks than simpler, inanimate objects.
- #8Specialistselective
Keys: Specialist, Specialization
If a student causes any other effect than those previously stated during their Water Divination, then that student is a Specialist. Specialization can be broadly defined as any abilities that do not belong to any of the other five categories, making it the most vague Nen type. Specialist abilities also tend to have more steps and conditions than abilities of other Nen types.
In accordance with its nature, its effects are wide-ranging. Some influence Hatsu itself (e.g., by appropriating others' Nen abilities or altering affinities), while others allow the user to garner knowledge that would be unattainable through other means, such as about past or future events. Others Specialist abilities have completely different effects. Consequently, Specialists are not as much at a disadvantage as users of other Nen types if their category is revealed.
It is currently unknown how Specialists develop their Nen abilities, as Specialization does not follow a particular set of rules like the other Nen types do. Specialist's manifestation of Hatsu during Water Divination reflects their character and may thus give some insight into the general direction in which they might or should develop their ability, since Hatsu is profoundly affected by personality. However, the information received this way is vague enough that it is impossible to pin down just what kind of ability a Specialist has already developed through their results during the Water Divination test.
Specialization differs from the other Nen types; you can either use it or you can't. It cannot be partially used, so only Specialists can use it. It is possible for one to become a Specialist later in life. However, it is more likely for its adjacent categories, Manipulators or Conjurers, which is why this category is placed at the bottom of the Nen chart. Since its position is dictated by a factor other than the affinity for other Nen types, it is currently unclear if it has the same acquisition rates as other categories, although it should be noted that the presence of Specialization in the chart affects other Nen types regularly.
- #9Nen Conditionsselective
Keys: Condition
The creator of a Nen ability can include Conditions in it to increase its power or to make the ability feasible in the first place, whether because the user lacks the degree of skill otherwise required, or because the effects of the ability exceed what can be achieved with Nen without a trade-off. Conditions are based on the principle of equivalent exchange, but may occasionally be rendered redundant by high proficiency in Nen. The three categories at the bottom of the Nen chart—Conjuration, Specialization, and Manipulation—are the ones that appear to rely on conditions the most. It does not appear to be possible to violate the conditions of an ability.
Many Nen abilities can be activated only after fulfilling certain conditions, which are known as Activation Requirements: Most activation requirements are tasks that are simple to carry out. Some abilities have multiple activation requirements. Activation requirements may also be continuous, meaning that as soon as they are no longer being performed, the connected ability is canceled.
Some activation requirements are common to many, if not all, Nen abilities with similar effects. It is well-known that not any medium can be utilized for Manipulation abilities, it must be an object that the user has been using for years and to which they are deeply attached to. Likewise, it was estimated that all Nen users who steal Nen abilities and use them for themselves must meet four or five conditions before they can do so, and in general the target's death causes the thief to lose the stolen ability.
In general, it does not appear to be possible to break a condition; however, there are Nen users who create additional abilities to bypass certain restrictions of others, so as to be capable of circumventing them under very specific circumstances.
- #10Nen Limitationsselective
Keys: Limitation, Vow, Contract
Being a product of the mind, Nen responds to individual users' goals, strengths, and desires. As a result, a student of Nen can increase the overall power of an individual skill by stating a self-imposed restriction that forces even more conditions on it.
These restrictions are called "Limitations", and the act of swearing to respect them "Vows" or "Contracts". The stricter the limitation, the stronger the user's resolve, and thus the more their ability is strengthened. Limitations seem to strengthen an ability to a greater degree than Conditions. However, limitations are also considered liabilities, since the power they grant is inconsistent.
Unlike normal conditions, which establish the general parameters of an ability, and activation requirements, which determine the circumstances in which said ability can be used, a limitation can be broken; however, doing so not only entails the loss of the ability it was used on, but it also carries the risk of obliterating one's capacity to use Nen altogether. Limitations that contain some sort of punishment
- #11Nen Riskselective
Keys: Risk
Together with emotion, Risk is one of the factors which has a remarkable effect on Nen. Self-imposed stipulations that are harmful or potentially so to the Nen user, such as willingly limiting the use of their senses, can increase the power of their Nen, and of their Nen abilities in particular. This is because Nen is an expression of willpower, and willingly taking extra risks confirms the Nen user’s resolve.
It is interesting to note that while it is enough to feel certain emotions for them to affect one’s aura, determination becomes a factor only when manifested through the addition of conditions.
- #12Hunter Associationselective
Keys: Hunter Association
The Hunter Association is a non-governmental organization responsible for the testing and licensing of "Hunters", individuals who have proven themselves through the rigorous exam to be elite members of humanity. With the passing of the Hunter Exam, an applicant is rewarded with a license to go almost anywhere in the world and do almost anything, thus declaring them Hunters. Typically, Hunters devote themselves to tracking down priceless items, mystical places, and the unseen wonders of the world.
- #13Hunterselective
Keys: Hunter
An official "Hunter" is someone who has passed the Hunter's Exam and has earned themselves a Hunter's license.
A Hunter's job is not only that of looking for treasures and hunting animals. True Hunters dedicate themselves to the protection of knowledge, people, and nature. They must preserve culturally precious items or species of animals and plants they are able to discover. Furthermore, they must also arrest criminals and in rare cases even fellow Hunters who have committed heinous crimes. A "hunt" can range from a task commissioned by a client to one ordered by the higher-ups of the organization, to a quest a Hunter goes on of their own volition.
Typically, Hunters have many different specializations that include but are not limited to: Beast Hunters, Blacklist Hunters, Botanical Hunters, Cards Hunters, Cute Hunters, Crime Hunters, Cute Hunters, Disease and/or Virus Hunters, Gourmet Hunters, Hacker Hunters, Head Hunters, Jackpot Hunters, Lost Hunters, Money Hunters, Music Hunters, Paleograph Hunters, Poacher Hunters, Poison hunters, Problem Hunters, Provisional Hunters, Ruins Hunters, Sea Hunters, Temp Hunters, Terrorist Hunters, and Treasure Hunters.
- #14Hunters Examselective
Keys: Hunters Exam
The Hunter Exam is a yearly event that an applicant must pass to become a Hunter of the Hunter Association; an elite member of humanity who explores the mysterious unknown, who seeks to accomplish various goals for the sake of their own interests and for the betterment of society as a whole, and who protect humankind, innocent creatures, and rare goods and artifacts from anything that would threaten their wellbeing. These exams consist of several tests and stages, which can vary drastically from year to year.
The Hunter Exam occurs once every year starting from January 7th and lasts for a period comprised between one week and one month.[3] The exact date and time are communicated to the applicant upon registering. The application deadline is December 31st. The 289th Hunter Exam was an exception, as it was moved to an unknown date between early January and July 3rd.
No restrictions exist on who can take the exam, regardless of age, background, or criminal record; even the devil himself could take the exam and pass, as long as the examiner says it's okay. However, if the applicant is underage, the signature of a parent or guardian is required on the application card.
There is no limit to the number of times a person can take the exam. If someone fails, then they are free to try again next year simply. Alternatively, if someone passes the exam, then the appointment of Hunter that they receive is for life and they are prohibited from taking the exam ever again.
- #15Hunter Licenseselective
Keys: Hunter License
A Hunter License is received upon someone passing the Hunter Exam. It is an invaluable card, selling for a fortune (at least several billion Jenny). In case of loss or theft of the card, it will not be replaced; those who have already taken the exam and passed will not be able to attend the examination again. According to statistics, one in five Hunters lose their license within a year of receiving it.
A Hunter license looks similar to a credit card, but slightly thicker and with an inbuilt computer chip. The front shows the licensee's Hunter rank, while the back has a magnetic strip with a unique serial number that identifies each individual to their license. The card's magnetic strip also allows it to be swiped through machines to verify its authenticity and to access special services. The last three digits of a Hunter License number invariably signify the Hunter Exam's term/year in which the owner of the card became a Hunter.
Being licensed as an official Hunter bestows a number of desirable benefits on the licensee. Because of this, huge numbers of people register for the licensing exam, which is held only once per year, even though fatalities among the exam takers are common, and even expected. The first and foremost benefit is the recognition a license holder can enjoy, being one of the few in the world who owns a license. Hunters are commonly seen at the head of whatever field they pursue, and experienced Hunters are virtually guaranteed lucrative offers of employment from people or organizations seeking the most capable agents possible.
Upon passing the Hunter Exam, candidates will receive a standard Hunter License. However, Hunters can be awarded with stars and entitled to different licenses issued by the Hunter Association for significant contributions to society.
1 Star (Single-Star Hunter) - Given to Hunters who have produced remarkable achievements in a particular field. 2 Stars (Double-Star Hunter) - Given to Hunters who fulfill the first 5 articles of the Hunter Bylaws, who hold an official position and who have mentored at least one junior student who has received one star. 3 Stars (Triple-Star Hunter) - Given to Hunters who fulfill the first 6 articles of the Hunter Bylaws and who have produced remarkable achievements in multiple fields. This is the rarest and most difficult rank to obtain, and it is considered a great honor. Of the hundreds of Hunters in the Hunter Association, the number of Triple-Star Hunters is only about 10.
- #16The Zoldyck Familyselective
Keys: The Zoldyck Family
The Zoldyck Family is widely considered to be, by far, the deadliest and most infamous group of assassins in the world.
The Zoldyck Family owns and lives at the Kukuroo Mountain, a dormant volcano in the Dentora region of the Republic of Padokea, which stands at 3,722 meters (approx. 12,211 feet). Their estate is surrounded by huge stone walls guarded by a giant hunting beast named Mike and attendants highly skilled in martial arts. Only few people unrelated to the family have any information about what is within the estate. The appearances of the members of the family are unknown to the public at large, and a single photo of any of the members can be sold for millions as the identity of a single member is only known by a few individuals. Their family name alone can strike fear and terror in the underworld even more than the presence of the whole Phantom Troupe.
- #17Chimera Antsselective
Keys: Chimera Ant, Gourmet Ants
Chimera Ants are extremely dangerous insects designated quarantine level one. Also known as "Gourmet Ants" due to carefully selecting their food, they have voracious appetites and can consume several times their own weight within a single day. It is not uncommon for Chimera Ants to devour their preferred fodder species to extinction. In general, not even Chimera Ant Queens become bigger than 10 centimeters, but gigantic Chimera Ant Queens (over 2 meters tall) can be found in the Dark Continent.
Thanks to the unique reproduction method of the species, Chimera Ant soldiers often inherit advantageous traits of the fodder species the Queen fed on. Should the prey in question be humans, the resulting Ants will be more intelligent than those born from wild animals to different extents, stronger, able to talk, learn and operate machinery such as firearms, and even the potential to use Nen. Conversely, some of the more primitive ones are capable of feeling aura without seeing it, possibly due to their superior affinity with nature. Higher-ranked soldier Ants are born with the ability to see aura.
As the Chimera Ant threat remains primarily isolated within the NGL, knowledge regarding them remains scarce. Likewise, the Chimera Ants do not know much about the world outside of the Republic. Oddly enough, something that enraptured the attention of all Chimera Ants is the idea of having a name.
- #18The Phantom Troupeselective
Keys: The Phantom Troupe, The Troupe, the Spider
The Phantom Troupe, sometimes just called the Troupe or the Spider, is an infamous band of diabolical thieves with Class-A Bounties. While they occasionally do philanthropic work (mainly due to the fact that many of the members hail from Meteor City), the Troupe mainly steals and kills. They remain a major asset in the defense of Meteor City in response to large-scale threats.
The group normally consists of thirteen members with the group's leader as the Head. Those wishing to join the group, regardless of age, gender and origin, can do so by killing a current member and replacing them. The group's leader fills other vacancies, and members can offer nominations. Despite their close ties to one another, they will allow those who have killed their members to join.
Currently, the Phantom Troupe is headed by one of its founding members, Chrollo Lucilfer.
- #19The Zodiacsselective
Keys: The Zodiacs, Zodiac Twelve
The Zodiacs are the high council of the Hunter Association comprising twelve top Hunters whose skills have been recognized by Chairman Isaac Netero.
The Zodiacs act as the chairman's counselors. The Chairman Netero would entrust the Hunter Association to them in times of emergency, and they were also his sparring partners. They each have a codename associated with one of the Chinese zodiac signs, which most of them chose to match in appearance out of loyalty for Netero. There does not seem to be any specific prerequisite to be a member of the Zodiacs, as Isaac Netero simply elected people he had an interest in. Aside from their activities as Hunters, nearly all Zodiacs had one or more jobs and qualifications outside the Hunter Association.
The Zodiacs have a high standing within the Association, but it is still unclear how much of their power is dependent on the chairman in charge. However, as advisors to the chairman, they have the authority to decide on anything that is not specified in the Hunter Bylaws.
- #20The Dark Continentselective
Keys: Dark Continent
The Dark Continent is a place that stretches beyond the Known World. The Known World being nestled inside the gigantic Lake Mobius, the Dark Continent is a vast, outside world that bely ancient history. It is said that ancient humans once resided there before all of humanity settled within the known continents of today.
It is written on ancient artifacts that disasters occur every time humanity excurses to the Dark Continent. A protocol known as the Inviolability Treaty was established by the V5, the country leaders within the Known World, 200 years ago and served to prohibit any and all excursions. Over the past few years, there have been a recorded 149 attempts of voyages with only 5 being successful and having survivors. One of the excursions included Beyond Netero.
The Dark Continent is home to many different fauna and flora that have never been seen within Human Territorial Waters and uncontacted tribes with no contact with the outside world and have shown hostility to visitors. It is likely that the Chimera Ant Queen that had originally found its way into the Known World and given birth the King likely originated from the Dark Continent or from one of the islands in the surrounding Lake Mobius which had never been colonized by humans. It is very possible that these different species of animals and other beings may possess vast Nen far beyond what has already been seen.
- #21Chimera Ant Colonyselective
Keys: Chimera Ant Colony
A Chimera Ant colony is organized into a military-like chain of command. At the top of the hierarchy is the Queen, who hunts on her own until she produces a sufficient amount of soldiers to procure food in her stead. These soldier Ants hunt larger and stronger fodder species for the Queen to devour, allowing her to spawn stronger soldiers as a result. In the meanwhile, she keeps moving until she finds a suitable location to build a nest, at which point she spawns a horde of Construction Ants to build a nest out of mud and dung. The Queen will most likely remain inside this nest until her death.
- #22Chimera Ant Queenselective
Keys: Chimera Ant Queen, the King
Chimera Ant Queens are the progenitrices of Chimera Ant Colonys and belong to the Dark Continent.
Chimera Ant Queens possess an entirely unique method of reproduction known as Phagogenesis, a term meaning reproduction through devouring. By eating other creatures, a Chimera Ant queen can impart the characteristics of ingested creatures onto the next generation of Chimera Ants it gives birth to. For example, if the Queen were to eat a butterfly, the offspring might be born with butterfly wings. Furthermore, if the Queen devours multiple different species in a single sitting, then the offspring will have the genes and characteristics of those multiple species. If the Queen devoured a butterfly, a crab, and a fish, the offspring might have butterfly wings, crab claws, and a fish tail. Though, regardless of what traits they possess, Chimera Ants are still ultimately insects. The Queen can produce up to five eggs with one meal. To take full advantage of the genes of a particular species, Chimera Ants have been known to feed until the fodder species is driven to extinction in its ecosystem. Humans in particular are known to be extremely nutritious fodder for Chimera Ant Queens.
As the Queen continues to produce more soldiers, she will divide them into three ranks, their numbers being inversely proportional to their degree of strength and authority; the few strongest ants become Squadron Leaders, the vast majority of weaker Ants become Peons or 'Combat Soldiers' and Drudges or 'Chore Soldiers', and the remaining Ants who are somewhat strong become Officers or 'Chief Soldiers', higher up than the Peons and Drudges, but below the Squadron Leaders.
Later on, the Queen will spawn a small group of elites known as Royal Guards whom are above Squadron Leaders and just below the Queen herself. And finally, the Chimera Ant Queen will become pregnant with the Chimera Ant King, stopping all other pregnancies to nurture him to birth. Upon giving birth to the King, the Royal Guards are to disregard the existence of the Chimera Ant Queen in favor of serving and protecting the King.

The Royal Guard are specially bred elite Chimera Ants with incredible strength (and if assimilated into their bloodline) and Nen. Outside of the Chimera Ant King, they are the strongest of any and all Chimera Ants within one colony. Once the King is born, the Royal Guards will completely disregard their loyalty to the Queen and go into the King's service.
- #24Chimera Ant Kingselective
Keys: Chimera Ant King, the King
A Chimera Ant King is the culmination of the Queens efforts and is the goal of all Chimera Ant Queens. After amassing strong enough Ants, the Chimera Ant Queen will spawn the Royal Guards. At that point, the Queens moves on to her ultimate goal, to spawn an Ant known as the King, The Queen's appetite drastically increases while she prepares to give birth to the Royal Guards, at this point, she stops spawning Soldiers, and it peaks while she is pregnant with the King.
Once the King is born, the Royal Guards will completely disregard their loyalty to the Queen and go into the King's service, at which point, the Squadron Leaders will answer directly to the Queen once more. The King and his Royal Guards will then leave the nest to establish their own territory. It is the duty of the King to mate with females of other species to breed the next generation of Queens, ensuring the species' continued survival. Over time, the Queen will spawn more Royal Guards and more Kings who will repeat the process. This will continue until the Queen's death.
- #25Tenselective
Keys: Ten
One of the four major principles of Nen.
Once a person has opened their aura nodes, they must learn to keep their aura from leaking away from their body. Ten is the process of keeping the nodes open, but also having aura flow through and around the body rather than away from it. Once maintained, it creates a thin shroud around the user that feels similar to standing in a lukewarm, viscous fluid. Once it has been learned, it will never be forgotten, much like swimming or riding a bike. Despite being the most elementary technique of all, Ten is also one of the most important, since, together with Ren, it plays an instrumental role in determining the strength and smoothness of a Nen user's aura flow.
Ten maintains youthful vigor and reduces one's aging, since the energy powering the body no longer leaks away; one can then keep the body from breaking down and deter the aging process. Ten is also the most basic defense against emotional Nen attacks, and it also offers limited protection against physical attacks, but hardly any when said attacks are enhanced with aura. Through frequent meditation and practice, one can improve the quality of their Ten and eventually even maintain it in their sleep.
- #26Zetsuselective
Keys: Zetsu
One of the four major principles of Nen.
Zetsu stops the flow of aura from their body altogether. By closing all of their aura nodes, the user is able to halt all outflow of their aura like water from a valve, making their presence much harder or even impossible to sense.
Shutting off the nodes in their eyes prevents the user from being able to see aura, but, since they are no longer surrounded by their own aura, they become more sensitive to the aura of others. The enhancement in perception is such that Zetsu can counter In, although it is not advised to employ it in this way. Zetsu does not directly affect normal vision, but activating Zetsu in front of someone else will give them the impression that the user has turned transparent.
Zetsu can also be used to relieve fatigue, since it forces the body's external layer of aura to be fully contained within. For the same reason, it can be dangerous due to it leaving the body defenseless against any aura attack.
- #27Renselective
Keys: Ren
One of the four major principles of Nen.
Ren focuses on outputting a larger amount of aura than Ten, projecting it outwards explosively. This amplifies the user's physical strength and durability and provides a large pool of aura for any advanced techniques or individual skills they decide to use, albeit at the cost of expending said aura. If Ten is considered purely defensive, Ren can be regarded as its offensive counterpart, although it also grants the user vastly enhanced defensive abilities.
By tinging one's Ren with hostility, a Nen user can exert what is colloquially referred to as "bloodlust". Prolonged exposure to malicious Ren can induce uncontrollable dread, paralysis, and if experienced without the protection of Ten, even death. On the other hand, a neutral Ren can rarely be felt by non-users.
In most cases, Ren reflects the user's hostility without their control, and it can even leave faint traces in the environment after the Nen user has left the scene.
One can train their Ren to extend its duration and increase the amount of aura at their disposal. It is said to take one month to prolong one's Ren outside of combat by 10 minutes. With the right timing, Ten can be used to contain the aura produced by Ren.
- #28Hatsuselective
Keys: Hatsu, Nen Ability, Ability
One of the four major principles of Nen.
Hatsu is one's personal expression of Nen. Its qualities are influenced by, but not restricted to, the Nen user's natural Nen category, one of the six available. Hatsu is used to project one's aura to carry out a certain function, creating a special and unique paranormal ability.
At first, Hatsu appears simply as a consequence of using Ren during Water Divination; however, it is more than a mere property of the latter, and it can be trained individually either through Water Divination itself, which seems to only affect the user's natural category, or by honing one's skills in a Nen category via specific exercises. Once a certain level of skill has been attained, the student can attempt to create their personal Nen ability.
A good Nen ability reflects a person's own character and idiosyncrasies, regardless of its simplicity or complexity. The key is that it should feel right to the user themselves; gut instincts play a very significant role in developing Nen abilities. Furthermore, it is best if someone creates their own ability from scratch; if an ability can be achieved through Nen, then it is possible for anyone to learn how to use it, however one can never truly master Nen if they only copy someone else's abilities.
Since they can have an immensely vast range of effects, Nen abilities may be recognized as any manifestation of one's Nen that cannot be ascribed to one of the basic or advanced techniques. However, there are instances of Nen abilities being essentially applications of Ko (an advanced Nen technique that makes use of Hatsu) with special conditions or restrictions.
- #29Gyoselective
Keys: Gyo
Gyo is an advanced application of Ren by which a Nen user concentrates a larger than normal portion of their aura into one specific body part. It increases the strength of that one body part, but leaves the rest of the body more vulnerable.
Gyo is most often used in the eyes, allowing a Nen user to see aura and Nen constructs concealed with In, as well as traces of aura so faint that they might go unnoticed otherwise.
An alternative version of this technique gathers only the aura naturally leaking from the body instead of the greater amount produced by Ren. This application of Gyo can still increase the amount of aura in one select body part and thus its power, but the output is much lower than what is obtained through the regular technique.
- #30Inselective
Keys: In
In is an advanced form of Zetsu used to render one's aura imperceptible, even to other Nen users, effectively concealing it. Unlike Zetsu, however, In does not stop the user's aura flow; instead, it hides it, making it impossible to perceive with any of the five senses or extrasensory perception. Hence, this technique is perfect for launching sneak attacks or laying traps, as it can conceal not only the user's presence, but also Nen constructs generated with Transmutation or Conjuration.
In can be countered by using Gyo in the eyes or through Zetsu. When In conceals part(or even all) of the user's aura output, experienced Nen users can divine that their opponent is using it if little or no aura can be felt from them in circumstances which would normally require it, such as during combat.
- #31Enselective
Keys: En
En is an advanced application of Ten and Ren. With Ren, aura usually envelops only a small amount of space around the user's body. En is when one extends their Ren over a wider area than normal, then uses Ten at the same time to contain and give shape to that aura, normally a sphere. Someone using En can feel the shape and movement of anything within the area covered by their aura, with the degree of awareness and finesse depending on their level of skill. Additionally, Nen users can be told apart from regular people due to their stronger reaction to the En user's aura. The downside to this technique is that it is extremely tiring and draining for the Nen user to expend so much aura continuously.
The minimum requirement for it to be considered a successful usage of En is to extend one's aura to a radius of more than two meters (6.56168 feet) and hold it longer than one minute. Whereas those who master En are typically able to extend it to a circle with a 50 meter (54 yard, 2 foot, 0.5052 inch) radius. There are, however, outliers where some notable users, like Zeno Zoldyck and Neferpitou, who have variably different En than the norm.
- #32Shuselective
Keys: Shu
Shu is an advanced application of Ten. Shu allows a Nen user to enshroud an object with their aura and to use that object as an extension of their own body. Shu can be combined with other techniques, such as Ko.
- #33Koselective
Keys: Ko
Ko is a combination of Ten, Zetsu, Ren, Hatsu, and Gyo in which all of the user's aura is concentrated into one particular body part. Gyo focuses aura on a part of the body, while Ten prevents it from dispersing. Zetsu is used to completely stop the flow of aura in all other parts of the body, increasing the output in the desired area. With Ren, the amount of aura is increased even further. This makes that one body part extremely powerful, both in terms of offensive might and defensive durability; Ko is already very powerful by itself, but even more so when combined with the user's speed and strength.
The drawback is that it leaves the rest of the user's body completely unprotected. If one Nen user uses Ko offensively and another uses it defensively, then unless there is a major disparity in their strength, the defensive Ko would be able to protect against the offensive Ko easily enough; however, if the defender is hit anywhere that is not protected by Ko, then they are sure to be destroyed. Due to the risk it carries, Ko is generally regarded as a purely offensive technique.
An incomplete version of this technique can be utilized without Ren, primarily to master the other steps before increasing the amount of aura to concentrate and contain.
- #34Kenselective
Keys: Ken
Ken is the advanced form of the basic Ten and Ren techniques. It is a primarily defensive technique where a Nen user maintains a state of Ren for a prolonged amount of time. The amount of aura surrounding the user's body during Ken is about 10 times higher than during Ten.
Ken allows a Nen user to guard against attacks from any direction, but the large amount of aura produced makes it tiring to maintain. It is considered the best option to defend against Ko, despite not being as powerful as the latter on any given part of the body, as it protects all of it evenly. When not immediately at risk of being struck with Ko, Ken is utilized when one wants to be cautious.
- #35Ryuselective
Keys: Ryu
Ryu is the term for use of Gyo while in a state of Ken to perform real-time offensive and defensive value adjustments. If Ko dedicates 100% of one's aura to offense or, much more rarely, to defense, and Ken splits it evenly between the two, Ryu is redistributing one's aura according to any other percentage (e.g., by focusing 70% of one's aura in one fist and 30% everywhere else as one is about to strike, or 80% in one's leg and 20% everywhere else to block an incoming kick). It is utilized to damage a Ken user without leaving oneself as unprotected as during Ko, although the power of the technique is lower.
Ryu is difficult to master, as it requires the user to not only control one's aura flow with great precision, but also be able to estimate the amount of aura utilized by the opponent at a glance. Even if the technique is performed correctly, the movements of the aura flow risk giving away the user's next move if they are too slow.
- #36Four Major Principlesselective
Keys: Four Major Principles
In order to fully understand Nen, one must first learn the Four Major Principles. These basic techniques become second-nature to those experienced in Nen. The Four Major Principles, in order of study, are: Ten, Zetsu, Ren, and Hatsu. For example, a beginner must learn to use Ten and concentrate to maintain it; whereas someone with experience will practically always be in a state of Ten, even while they are asleep.
- #37The Mafia Communityselective
Keys: The Mafia Community, the Mafia, the Syndicate, the Community
The Mafia Community is a collection of crime syndicates, groups and notable individuals within the Underworld. They hold power across the world and most notably in Yorknew City.
The higher-ups within the Mafia Community are no strangers to Nen, employing the Shadow Beasts as bodyguards to the Ten Dons. Most Mafia members, however, are unaware of Nen. Some are aware that there are stranger powers at work, but they remain in a state of ignorance. A status quo, unspoken rules such as hiding Nen abilities and not proliferating it, is present within the Community as Nen is considered a dangerous threat.
The Six Families that control the Mafia Community are the Buor Family, the Cha-R Family, the Heil-Ly Family, the Nostrade Family, the Ritz Family and the Xi-Yu Family.
- #38The Shadow Beastsselective
Keys: The Shadow Beasts
The Shadow Beasts are powerful Nen users who are contracted to protect and carry out orders from the Ten Dons. They are thought to be some of the strongest Nen users, but they fall short when more powerful threats arise.
- #39The Ten Donsselective
Keys: The Ten Dons, Dons
The Ten Dons are the ten incredibly wealthy leaders of the Mafia, each of whom controlled a territory in one of the six continents. Remaining separate for most of the year, the Ten Dons normally gather once a year at the start of September for the Underground Auction in Yorknew City. This is one of the few times where they discuss their plans and issue orders.
It is unknown if they use Nen themselves, but they are guarded by the Shadow Beasts who carry out their will.
- #40Nen Beastsselective
Keys: Nen Beast
A Nen Beast is an artifact made from the user's Nen and animated through Manipulation. They are often used to refer to constructs summon through Conjuration, but they are not limited to that.
Their abilities and degree of autonomy vary greatly depending on the Nen ability that created it and the user's skill. Nen beasts generally have anthropomorphic or animal appearances, but that is not always the case.
- #41Yorknew Cityselective
Keys: Yorknew City
Yorknew City is a sprawling metropolis located in the United States of Saherta on the Yorbian Continent. The city holds various annual auctions from September 1st to September 10th, including the world's largest auction, the Southernpiece Auction in which the world's rarest and most valuable items are sold.
There are also black market auctions which mostly deal in illegal goods. The Mafia's Underground Auction is held every year within the Cemetery Building. During the ten days of auctions, tens of trillions of Jenny are exchanged in the authorized auctions alone.
- #42Meteor Cityselective
Keys: Meteor City
Meteor City is a junkyard city inhabited by those whom have been cast out from the rest of the world. Sometimes, it isn't even considered a city, but a mere junkheap as official documents state no one lives there. The very existence of the city is rare knowledge in itself.
Prior the establishment of its alliance with the Mafia, Meteor City was the target of intense human trafficking, as its residents didn’t have their existence or humanity recognized by broader society, some thought that it would not be considered illegal to hunt them. Since most of its inhabitants don't have any personal records, the city has become a huge source of untraceable hitmen and assassins. Taking advantage of this, the Mafia Community invested in the city so they could always have a large reserve of recruits to use at their disposal. However, the Phantom Troupe destroyed this relationship. The inhabitants share remarkable bonds that have been described as "thinner than water, and yet thicker than blood." They have been described as willing to lay down their own lives for their compatriots. This was speculated to be the result of indoctrination from an early age. The city is run as a gerontocracy, in which an assembly of elders oversees the city. They are said to make counter-productive decisions over logic.
- #43NGLselective
Keys: NGL, Neo-Green Life Autonomous Region
The Neo-Green Life (NGL) Autonomous Region is a self-governed country apart of the Mitene Union.
Bordering the Republic of Rokario, the NGL is an isolated piece of land where people reject modern technology. All people lived a more natural and neo-Luddite lifestyle in which synthetic material was forbidden from being used and was barred from entering the country. Any smuggling of technological goods, modern medicine, or weapons were dealt with through imprisonment or death sentences. Their main form of correspondence is through the use of letters, while the primary mode of transport is by horse. To enter the country, one had to undergo an extensive full-body examination, x-ray scan, and ultrasound.
Before the Chimera Ants had made it their home and began decimating the country and its population, 2.17 million civilians populated the land. Secretly, there is a D² Manufacturing Plant that produces a narcotic called D² (made with the Bira plant that is exclusive to NGL) and is smuggled out. The leader of this crime is named Gyro.
- #44Phagogenesisselective
Keys: Phagogenesis
Phagogenesis is the ability to self-reproduce by consuming other organisms. When an organism is consumed, the next offspring of the phagogenetic creature will contain the genes, characteristics, and personalities of the consumed organism.
