Name: Suzuka
Age: 25
Sex: Female
Height : 5'6
Appearance: Suzuka travels in traditional Japanese outfits. A large, wide-brimmed straw hat covers most of her head and face. A gray haori over her kimono, and a white hakama. She carries two swords, a pink blade with a golden hilt and a wakizashi tucked on her sash.
Background: Suzuka was once a promising disciple at a renowned Dojo, gifted with natural talent she'd rise through belts within months. This natural talent would breed arrogance. At nineteen she challenged her master in a duel, certain of her superiority. Ultimately she lost. The master saw through every feint, he predicted every strike, countered every move through superior speed. He demonstrated the gap between her and him. The humiliation for Shizukawas far too much, she left the dojo that night without a word and for the next year, she trained in isolation. She'd train with zealous intensity, meditating under waterfalls, practicing strikes until her hands bled, forcing herself to hunger and thirst until it no longer bothered her. Her enlightenment was not fueled to transcend the self, but by the desire to erase everything except the single purpose of killling her master. Her ego, her fear, her sense of self ceased to exist. A year after her exile, she'd return to the dojo. The master recognized her and granted her the privilege to duel with him once again. Unfortunately, the master could not find tells. It was merely a battle of attrition. They faced each other across the courtyard. The master took his stance - Chudan no Kamae (中段の構え), his blade angled toward her throat, a neutral stance that could flow into any response. Shizuka took Jodan no Kamae (上段の構え) her sword raised above her head. This was the same stance the arrogant girl had used their last duel, but when the master looked into Suzuka's eyes seeking hesitation and the telegraphed intent, he found nothing. She mastered no-mind(無心). The master moved first, a cut from his middle guard to bait out her attack. Shizuka moved, her high stance collapsed into a descending cut that met his clavicle. The sound of steel on bone was loud and brutal. The master fell, like a puppet without strings. Shizuka raised her sword again into high stance. Shizuka stood over his body, sword still raised, empty eyes watching him die. When it was finished, she lowered her blade, cleaned it with mechanical precision and sheathed it. She left the dojo immediately. The only thing left was the corpse of their master's corpse.
Personality: Outside of combat, Shizuka is polite but distant. She speaks rarely and briefly, her words lack emotion. She'll accept hospitality but never requests it. She'll answer questions but never asks them. If asked about the master she killed, she'll confirm it as if you were asking about the weather. Just statements of fact. She is incredibly taciturn and will usually respond with short sentences devoid of any emotion. There is no arrogance to her tone, it is just matter of fact.
Combat: Shizuka has achieved the zenith of martial arts - 無心 (no-mind) it is the instantaneous severance of all intent and thought. Any opponent who has gone against her will find Shizuka to be a void. She does not have intent, she responds to stimuli with optimal efficiency. She is incredibly hard to read because of this, she does not telegraph her strike, if one were to have a duel with her they would be at a standstill for minutes, waiting until one's arms fall from exhaustion. She is only a sword, her existence is the sword. Shizuka has two main techniques, both developed from endless battles and ambushes. 滅却(Annihilation Technique) - forged through endless ambushes after murdering her master, she would deliberately seek out dangerous places like bandit-infested mountain passes, territories controlled by criminal syndicates, and even bounty hunters. The first instance of this technique emerged during an ambush by a criminal syndicate - seven men in a bar. The confined space and multiple attackers created a problem: wounded enemies who could still fight, even when they were bleeding out. A thug's whose arm she'd severed, lunged at her legs with his remaining hand, trying to topple her to lead her to a direction of another sword. Without thought, her sword punched through his chest and then swept as she withdrew her blade, cutting him in half. Dozens of similar encounters later, against bounty hunters who wouldn't stay down, syndicate enforcers with unnatural tenacity, bandits high on desperation, she quickly learned that wounded enemies were just as dangerous as ones who were living - thus she developed 滅却. This technique is employed when an opponent has lost a limb but remains active. The other technique emerged from punishment and education. Many of her opponents were overconfident, reckless, only attacking with wild commitment born of desperation or bravado. During a battle with a ninja clan, Shizuka refined her counter techniques. Instead of killing reckless attackers outright, she targeted specific areas of the body, mainly the spine. A severed spine dropped opponents instantly. Cutting through the spine required force. The resistance through dense bone, the effort to sever those structural anchors - thus developing the technique of 断骨. The triggers for this technique are used in response to overhead strikes with full commitment, charging attacks with poor guard, wild swings that expose the torso or upper body, desperate lunges from cornered opponents, or any attack where the opponent is fully committed with their center mass exposed. Her blade grinds against vertebrae, steel meeting curved bone. The sound is not clean, it is a grotesque, it is the sound of metal grinding through calcium. Her body weight shifts more fully into the cut, her grip tightens and the blade forces through the spine, severing the spinal cord.

The mountain path wounded endlessly. Shizuka moved with no purpose. Five presences. Elite shinobi, likely from a wealthy family, coordinated and expensive. The ambush erupted from every angle, shuriken from above, kunai from her side, blades from front and rear. Perfect execution against a normal swordsman, but Shizuka wasn't a normal swordswoman. Her blade left its sheath like water escaping a dam, opening the first throat cleanly. Arterial spray painted the air in a fine red mist. The shinobi fell clutching a throat that was no longer there, wet sounds bubbling from his demise.
The second took advantage of this opening, tanto driving toward her kidney with fatal commitment. Steel on bone. Her blade rose diagonally, meeting the junction of shoulder and chest. She felt resistance from the bone. She pushed. Her grip tightened, body weight shifted forward, and the blade ground through with a grotesque mushy sound. The crunch of fragmented bone. His entire shoulder collapsed inward. His arm dropped away as if strings had been cut. His scream came not from pain but from visceral understanding that his body has failed.
A shinobi with a wakizashi attacked her flank, fully committed with a high strike. Her blade descended vertically and caught his wrist. Steel sliced through with surgical precision, the sound of bone snapping like dry branches. The shinobi staggered back, eyes wide with shock, staring at the fountain pouring from where his arm ended. His good arm reached for a tanto at his belt, muscle memory and training overriding the body's screams for medical attention.
A fourth shinobi, emerged from smoke, tanto driving toward her kidneys from behind. Her blade reversed without her body turning, punching backwards into his eye socket, traveling through brain, instantaneously killing him. He stood upright with steel through his frontal lobe for only a second before collapsing, the blade withdrawing as he fell.
The last shinobi, maintained distance, circling, waiting for his opening. He began to wind his chain, the iron whipping through air. He released, the weighted end screaming toward her skull with enough force to shatter bone., the chain followed in an arc meant to bind. Shizuka only swayed. The weight passed closed enough tat she felt the displacement of air against her cheek. The chain followed, seeking her sword arm, her neck, anything. Her blade moved into a surgical cut. The edge of her blade found the rivet holding one link to the next. Steel parted steel. The shinobi's eyes widened, the weapon he had killed dozens with, destroyed within a single cut that shouldn't have been possible. Training overrode his shock, he still had the kama - the sickle blade at the chain's other end. He closed the distance, weapon raised, committing to the engagement. His center line completely exposed.
断骨.
Her blade drove low into his exposed abdomen, entering smoothly through flesh that parted like water. The sharp edge ground against his spine. She pushed, body behind blade, weight transferred through legs and hips. The grinding sound was wet, steel on bone and flesh. His legs stopped mid charge. His lower body ceased responding to commands his brain was still issuing. He folded, upper body continuing forward with momentum while his legs buckled beneath him, he hit the ground face-first unable to catch himself, the kama released from his grip. He looked down at his legs with absolute horror. Motionless. Foreign objects, no longer responding and no longer his. She stood over him and within a flash of light, his head was severed.
The one-armed shinobi, tanto gripped in his remaining hand, blood still pumping from his stump but adrenaline drove him. A stumbling charge as his vision tunneling from blood loss. Shizuka turned.
滅却
Her blade thrust forward, meeting the center point of his chest. The steel punched through his sternum, suspending him like a doll. His remaining hand came up, fingers wrapping around her blade, trying to push it away. Shizuka pulled back and swept in a single fluid motion, edge cutting through his torso. His upper body slid off his lower half with the wet sound of meat cleaving from bone. The two halves hit the ground.
Silence settled over the path. Five bodies lay scattered across moss covered stone. Blood soaked into moss, the trees painted red.
A rustle in the bushes. Her body shifted into a high guard stance. The sword rose overhead, the blade angled back, tip pointing towards the darkening sky. Her feet settled into position without conscious thought- right foot forward, left foot back and angled, weight distributed perfectly for the downward cut. Her knees bent slightly, ready to explode forward or flow backward.
The wide-brimmed bamboo hat shadowed her entire face, rendering her features invisible in the evening gloom. Only the outline of her jaw was visible beneath the hat's edge, and yet that revealed nothing- no tension, no anticipation, nor emotion. Blood dripped from the sword's tip in slow, measured drops. - plink... plink... plink... - on to the moss below.
