Background: Shiori was born in an upper-middle-class neighborhood in Tokyo, Japan, near the city's most beautiful wildlife. She was the only child of the family with two loving parents, and her life was considered average, according to Shiori. Though the favorite part of her younger days was attending a specialized school for advanced growth, thanks to her father's real estate wealth and her mother's connections there. She was privately tutored by her teacher, and Shiori had learned many topics and excelled at them as a student, from math to reading. She also made friends with like-minded people, and each day she hoped to return to the school to learn once again, as that's all she'd ever focused on.

Shiori's admiration for her teachers eventually inspired her to become one herself, as she loves to bond with them. When she did, however, her talent was promptly noticed by Hope's Peak Academy itself, and they offered her a place in their Ultimate Talent Program. Shiori, shocked by the news, accepted the invitation with glee and became the "Ultimate Instructor." Despite her new title, she was still a student at the Academy and was quickly absorbed into its teachings of hope and a bright future. When she graduated in the 60th class year, she was also quickly hired by the same Academy to teach, as she loved everything about the Academy and wanted to do the exact same thing as her teachers did for Shiori.

Since then, she taught at Hope's Peak for over a decade. She never fell in love with someone, nor did she switch up careers, as she was content and busy in her position. She has also mentored other instructors and new teachers in her tenure, and she even turned down an opportunity to become the principal of Hope's Peak Academy.

Personality: Shiori is a selfless, friendly, and empathetic person who is passionate about teaching. She values growth and learning above all else, believing that all humans on the planet deserve a chance to succeed in their dreams and goals. She is a well-mannered and polite person with an extensive vocabulary, though she deliberately dumbs it down for those who have trouble understanding her, which shows she cares about the people around her, even if they don't like her. She is a very understanding and forgiving person, believing there is a solution to every problem in Academia, though she won't hesitate to be firm with her students should they act disorderly or immaturely. In a sense, Shiori is extremely competent and patient as a teacher.

While Shiori may seem like an all-around person, her upbringing and lack of major conflict in her life have made her naive, blindly optimistic, and ditzy. She believes in the best in everyone, even if they're the most evil person on the planet, and she knows that people do change at some point in their lives, even if she's entirely wrong about her malicious students. She can be, at times, rigid in her academic teaching, such as not using computers or doing team-building exercises that others may find cringeworthy. Moreover, she's hardly involved in the latest trends of her younger counterparts, and she can easily be tricked into thinking they're the new norm. Because of her love for her students, Shiori would do anything to help them succeed, and if it means adopting to their way of thinking to get them to learn, then she will do just that.
