Shiny duo || Surprise!

Gem's lab wasn't messy. Not saying it was pristine either, but it's not like Zedaph's one with redstone everywhere half-finished blueprints and less-than-half-finnished things. She had gotten a deeper understanding for it after starting her own experiments, it was so tempting just leaving everything however most days. But her experiments weren't machines, they were more delicate. Life would be a stretch. Consciousness? Questionable.

She had rows of test tubes liquid that lookes half solid keeping her creations, uh, stable. She had started with mixing soils, getting her fellow sientist's help with "The Mixer". After soil she mixed flowers and then diffrent plants all together. She copied the maxhine she already had block by block twice over to do more at a time. It was thrilling, knowing the abominations in her lab were truly one of a kind. She wasn't usually expressive with her fetures, but she found her tail wagging more than normal whenever she went tgrough her tube coridor looking at the beings under her care.

At some point she found herself scraping the blood off her wepons whenever she killed something, and soon she was making hybrids any animal lover would cry seeing. She rarely keeps them though. Only long enough for her to sketch. Then she puts them out of their misery. Although she has keept the moobloom she created when she mixed dandilion seed and cows blood. The riaction was positive from the start, like shed found something that couldve been but wasn't. So she made a second so the first one wouldnt get lonely

Unfortunately a rabbit hole never gets less tempting. And Gem finds herself making more and more creatures. Most fail, or die after being done in the incubation process. After mixing a Creeking and enderman though she gelt her whole body buzz, just like after a good hunt. Could've been cause the thing was deadly always aggressive and seemingly unkilleble. She managed to lock it in a room that then was covered in warnings, mostly to herself.

But she'd seen it, the thing, it could think it had a reason to attack. So.. either shed done something increadibly funky when she patched up the design after the first ever atempt at anything, or Zedaph should be more supervised. She wouldnt sugest it though. Now, heres where logic compleatly said goodbye. There was just something in the air, maybe ftom some pipe that had been broken. But she imidiatly took a tube and picked up some blood from a fresh wound before blindly reaching for any other vail from her satchel, only one. She then put them into the aching and started it

Did she mention it takes a very long time before things get done? Usually its only a month. But quite a few went by to tge point she fully stopped hearing the wirring before one day her ears perked up at a cartonish ding. Gem had expected an abomination, a creature looking thing. But this was none of it. "What have I done.?" She mumbled staring wide eyed before full on panaking "Shit-" She cursed bringing up her comm and was just about to message Pearl when he noticed he had unread messages from her already

Pearlecentmoon messaged you: Hey! you free right now?

Gem quickly looked at the time it was sent, 8 minutes ago, pretty good

You messaged Pearlecentmoon: Yup! Actually, come to ××× ×× ××× you gotta see something!

She looked at the machine it was quet, the incubator keeping... it... stable untill she pressed a button deciding to keep or discard it. She saw Pearls response but she was begiinning to pave cause shs just avtually done this and now pearl was roped into it which- yeah, best possible outcome but still!

"Gem? Are you here?"

Gem took a deep breath before responding going up to The Mixer "Yeah! Wait there! And close your eyes!" The steps came to a halt just as the hissing of the incubator opned. And she carefully brought her masterpiece into her arms

"What was that noise-? Youre not gonna kill me are you?" Pearl said. Definatly close by

"No, no. Not at all.. um" She stopped when she stood before Pearl "You can open your eyes now" She said sheepishly

Gem watched Pearl open her eyes, adjyst to the light, look at her, open her mouth for a greeting and then freeze "Surprise?" She said

Pearl was in shock. She knew Gem was doing experiments but this- this was.. "You're mad" Was the only thing she could think about saying
