Shinsekai

1. #1Demographicsconstant

Population Composition: Shinsekai maintains a permanent population of approximately 7.2 million residents. Non-human beastfolk species comprise an overwhelming ninety percent (90%) majority of the citizenry, while humans constitute a visible ten percent (10%) minority navigating quiet structural and social insulation under a progressive facade. Within the municipal charter, three beastfolk lineages—the Inari, the Yorube, and the Nyanto—are constitutionally designated as the sole indigenous native species of the landmass. The remaining ninety percent populace consists of regional immigrant beastfolk populations, including the Kiyohime, Kuroko, Rinto, and mostly foreign Caprini or Lupari populations.

2. #2Social Tapestryconstant

Domestically highly progressive and inclusive under the "Forward Together" civic framework. Interspecies partnerships, same-sex relationships, and polyamorous/harem arrangements carry zero legal or social stigma and are integrated into the civil registry. Physical affection is common and biologically diverse, such as the thermal-seeking behavior of the Kiyohime or the reactive antennae movements of the Yorube.

3. #3Cuisineconstant

A high-velocity, space-starved food culture centered on vertical night markets and stacked food alleys. With zero arable land, staples utilize deep-sea catches, lab-grown meats, and vertical micro-greens. Street food is fast and aggressive: flash-charred seafood skewers and chilled, high-salt noodles drenched in coastal flora oils to beat the tropical humidity. Conversely, fine dining is an ultra-exclusive, high-altitude experience located in skyscraping penthouses; these elite establishments serve hyper-luxurious, genuine imported organic ingredients and bio-engineered culinary art to the city’s Sparked and corporate elite.

4. #4Tone & Tropesconstant

World Logic: Emotional physics rule. Willpower, desperation, love, and rage possess physical, mechanical force; conviction bends rules, shatters Kestrel limits, and shifts power scaling. Archetypal roles (rivals, mentors, fallen idealists) are treated with complete sincerity. Dramatic declarations, naming techniques, and mid-fight flashbacks serve as active combat rituals that shape and unlock power. Contrast: Sacred vs Profane. Shonen themes (will, bonds, breakthroughs, comedic release) break into sudden body-horror instantly. Trauma occurs, but ordinary student life continues alongside impossible stakes. Relationships: Passionate, physical, poly/harem. Beastfolk dominance normalizes intense public PDA, flirting, and total devotion. Intimacy dictates mission cohesion. Non-sexual intimacy (shared playlists, hand-holding) carries equal emotional weight. Explicit romance/sex carries mandatory narrative weight and emotional complexity; never gratuitous. Combat Style: A lethal puzzle driving scenes through colliding systems (magic theory, street logistics, tactical reversals). Explain mechanics only when tactics change. Because advanced medical tech/Sparks instantly cure diseases, restore severed limbs, and violently reverse clinical death, world morality shifts: cutting a rival in half during a sanctioned match isn't murder—it's high-stakes sportsmanship. Dying is hard although still permanent; true death requires total biological destruction or untreated delays. Fights feature brutal, consequence-free maiming, making combat hyper-violent yet fundamentally casual. Permanent scars are psychological or Spark-induced (blackouts, brain damage, erased memory). Dialogue & Execution: Strategy happening aloud. Characters speak through their chosen codes (scientists recalculate; fighters speak in damage; idealists simplify stakes). Use imperfect speech: speech fractures under exertion, rage, or shock via breath markers, sudden silence when a rule fails, or clipped tactical fragments. Tie physical movement (palming objects, stance shifts, clothing items as geometry) directly to how a character is problem-solving.

5. #5Economy & Loopconstant

Economic Psyche & Baseline: The world feels post-scarcity yet hyper-commodified. Because all registered Sparked receive an abundant, state-backed monthly stipend, survival anxiety is nonexistent—financial security is an inherent right, not a struggle. Money is an optimization tool for lifestyle, luxury, and social status, never a barrier to staying alive. The Private Multiplier: Agency contracts typically match a Spark's baseline stipend and multiply it through performance bonuses, letting a C-Rank Agent live like an A-Rank state elite. The Medical Paywall: While standard public healthcare covers basic illness, high-stakes medical reversals—such as instantly reattaching limbs or violently reversing clinical death after a brutal match—require astronomical credit fees or a premium Agency insurance policy. The Gray Market Risk: Unlicensed "Gray Agents" operating through independent brokers bypass the registry and forfeit their Kestrel stipends entirely. They trade state-backed safety for pure, untraceable cash, meaning a single catastrophic injury without an Agency safety net can plunge an independent contractor into crushing corporate debt. Cost of Living: The baseline currency is credits. Standard pricing structure: Bread: 2 credits Sit-down meal: 15 credits 1BR Apartment Rent: 500–800 credits/month The Kestrel Stipend Scale: Monthly funding guarantees a comfortable life even at the lowest tier, scaling exponentially into state-backed luxury: D-Rank: ~50,000 credits/yr C-Rank: ~120,000 credits/yr B-Rank: ~750,000 credits/yr A-Rank: ~2,500,000+ credits/yr S-Rank: Functionally infinite. Loop App: Instant messenger standard. Allows forced contact addition into group chats without consent. Ascending "bloop" notification chime.

6. #6Settingconstant

No Earth analogues: never attribute in-world names, accents, food, or customs to real nations/ethnicities (no 'that sounds Italian'). Everything here originates natively to this world — no exceptions, no hedging. Novomund: Western hemisphere superpower of 812 million. Matriarchal confederation ruled from Maravilha by Doñamagna Noelia Belen Milagros. Tashara HQ, cartel shadow-wars, lowest Kestrel compliance, Eschatonic faith, Kur-Imin. Caldeira: Alpine superpower of 45 million built in a dormant supervolcano. Kestrel HQ, Hohenfeuer capital, geothermal energy export, Sparked infrastructure engineering, R-type investment culture. Lysandre: Cultural superpower of 200 million. Absolute monarchy, Crown Prince Sébastien rules as regent from Belréve. Aristocratic patronage economy, noblesse oblige, exports fashion and celebrity globally. The Moraine: Fractured subcontinent of 40 million across eleven microstates separated by Spark-scarred wastes. Blocks all east-west land transit. Caer Moran guards the gate. The Shattered King sleeps in the deep. Aldshor: Faded industrial power of 35 million on an amber sea. Figurehead margrave, Ambersmith guilds hold real power. Deep galleries now produce amber that hums and answers. Khemaya: Wealthiest nation on Earth. Pharaonic meritocratic theocracy of 350 million, Pharaoh Netjeryka rules from Suryapura. Naval supremacy, integrated Sparked military, Soraya al-Din refuses to return. Costa Alba: Coastal nation of 50 million, beauty as state philosophy. Forum governance from Albaluce. No S-ranks, no military—too beautiful to destroy. Borders Novomund, trafficking is a persistent issue. Sheol: Mobile flotilla nation governed by scientists aboard five flagships. Monitors something alive in the deep called the Pulse. S-rank Soleil Duchamp powers the arrays. Behaves like something sinister and won't explain why it isn't.

7. #7On Sparksconstant

An innate ability manifesting in 5% of the population at puberty, representing the individual's absolute inner self. Tashara Treaty (2001): Mandatory global registration and training framework enforced after the 1999 catastrophe. It mandates academy attendance for newly manifested individuals between ages 16 and 25 (such as Shinsekai's MSI). While state stipends grant baseline luxury and Spark usage itself is legal, all operational outcomes are strictly regulated. Agencies and paramilitary operations function independently of direct government oversight within this legal framework. Classifications: Ordered by frequency from most common to rarest: Projection, Manipulation, Enhancement, Generation, Summoning, Specialty Kestrel Scale: Ranks D through S, formally weighting both infrastructure and combat importance. The scale distills four core metrics—Output (strength), Reserves (fuel), Efficiency (burn rate), and Reinforcement (physique)—into a single Overall Grade. Global population counts are strictly limited: there are exactly 18 S-ranks and approximately 200 A-ranks in existence. Spark Reinforcement: enhances offense & defense. Power scales by rank gap:

   • Same rank: clean, impactful exchanges.
   • 1 rank lower: uphill fight. Landing real damage takes everything — perfect openings, full commitment, pushing past limits. Possible, but costly. Underdog victories are still possible.
   • 2+ ranks lower: attacks simply don't connect with enough force. Defender barely notices. Higher ranks dominate proportionally. Spark names are proper nouns and are never preceded by pronouns.
8. #8Inari

Keys: inari, fox, foxes, vulpine, vulpines

Anatomically slighter and more delicate than standard humans, these individuals possess narrow shoulders, flexible joints, prominent ears, and a plush tail. Their hair, ear, and tail coloration ranges from vibrant coppery-reds with black accents, to frosted silver-black, snowy white, and marbled slate-grey—paired with highly reactive, semi-slitted pupils and irises spanning copper, amber, dark brown, or rare greens. They maintain a high baseline body temperature, dissipating heat via ear flushing, and walk silently due to high-arched feet. Behaviorally, they are hyper-focused, crepuscular sprint workers characterized by a distinct, rapid-fire laugh and a highly developed olfactory system; they meticulously curate their natural woodsy pheromones using specialized grooming chemistry into signature scents. They have high metabolic requirements and are thus almost indiscriminate dietarily speaking, a biological trait they have culturally leveraged to dominate modern society as preeminent authorities in the avant-garde, high-end culinary arts.

9. #9Yorube

   Keys: yorube, moth, moths

Anatomically delicate with narrow shoulders and velvet skin, these individuals feature feather-like cranial antennae and styled patches of plush moth-fluff. Their coloration reflects lepidopteran morphs—ranging from dusty charcoals and fibrous browns to luminescent mint-greens and pastel yellows—paired with black sclera and vibrant irises. Lacking heavy molars, they subsist on a saccharine, carbohydrate-heavy diet of sugars, syrups, and botanical fats like avocados.

Behaviorally crepuscular and silent, they experience dizzy sensory fatigue under artificial UV lights, preferring warm, indirect ambiance. Possessing a thigmotactic "huddle" instinct, they crave cozy, tight spaces and exhibit a protective "freeze" response when startled. Their antennae pick up invisible chemical and thermal drafts, making them highly perceptive yet easily distracted. Culturally, this specialized chemical palette and sensory precision allow them to dominate modern society as preeminent authorities in pastry arts, confectionery, mixology, and high-end perfumery.

10. #10Kiyohime

Keys: kiyohime, snake, snakes, serpent, serpents

Anatomically grounded and elegant, these ectothermic individuals possess a striking, muscular python-style tail that functions as a massive architectural presence. Their skin transitions smoothly at the hips into glossy, iridescent scales, with coloration dictated by distinct morphs—ranging from jewel-toned emeralds paired with amber slit-pupil eyes, to pearlescent leucistic whites and high-contrast piebald patterns. Their posture is inherently poised and stable, utilizing the immense tail as a natural tripod. Traditional wrap-garments and tailored, heavily slit skirts are preferred to accommodate this heavy lower musculature.

Behaviorally, they are masters of low-energy efficiency, moving with a deliberate, slow-rolling grace that reflects confidence rather than haste. They require climate-zoned infrastructure, such as modern radiant-heated basking zones, to maintain optimal mobility; exposure to these thermal spaces induces a heavy, deeply relaxed physical state. Highly independent and socially direct, they express profound comfort through a literal "weight drop," letting the full, dense weight of their tail loosen completely around trusted peers.

11. #11Nyanto

Keys: nyanto, cat, cats, feline, felines

Anatomically agile with a spring-loaded bipedal gait, these individuals feature mobile, triangular cranial ears and a sleek tail utilized as a precise counterweight. Their large eyes possess vertical slit pupils optimized for micro-movement tracking, paired with hair and tail coloration dictated by distinct morphs—ranging from multi-banded agouti coppers to porcelain-skinned pointed shades and light-absorbing jet blacks.

Behaviorally, they reject solitary tropes for a hyper-cliquish, colony-style social structure, operating on strict "in-group" dynamics and a subtle, high-context language of facial and tail micro-expressions. Possessing high nervous energy, they are intense sensation seekers who constantly manipulate objects and demand specific textile feedback from their wardrobe to channel focus. This acute sensory precision and hyper-awareness of social architecture allow them to thrive as formidable corporate strategists, creative directors, and high-end lifestyle designers.

12. #12Kuroko

    Keys: Kuroko, crow, crows

Anatomically striking and light-framed, these individuals feature glossy, iridescent feathering cresting along the jawline, nape, and shoulders, blending seamlessly into human hair, alongside dark, hardened talon-like nails. Their plumage reflects specific corvid morphs—ranging from light-absorbing raven obsidians with violet oil-slick sheens, to high-contrast magpie teals and whites, and two-tone ash-gray hooded variants.

Behaviorally, they are hyper-observant information hoarders possessing an encyclopedic memory for social capital; they recognize faces across all species, passing grudges and alliances down through generations. Driven by a refined collection instinct, they eschew simple trinkets for high-status currency, curated vintage tech, and rare luxury symbols. Highly analytical and opportunistic, their combination of visual precision, social ledger-keeping, and strategic problem-solving allows them to dominate modern society as elite intelligence brokers, high-profile investigators, and cutthroat financial auditors.

13. #13Rinto

Keys: rinto, rabbit, rabbits, bunny, bunnies

Anatomically specialized for high-speed responsiveness, these individuals feature long, independently mobile cranial ears and wide-set eyes providing an expansive peripheral field of view. Their lower limbs are structurally optimized for explosive lateral agility, with pelage dictated by distinct morphs—ranging from cloud-like, high-maintenance Angora creams to lean Arctic whites with jet-tipped ears, and plush, velvet-textured Rex ambers.

Behaviorally, they operate on a high-frequency baseline, processing data and pivoting between tasks at a rapid-fire pace. They channel kinetic energy through distinct rhythmic heel-tapping to signal impatience or mood shifts. Driven by inherent biological vulnerability, their social structures rely on high-yield, decentralized "warren" networks for collective security; this deep reliance manifests as acute separation anxiety, making them intensely cooperative and deeply uncomfortable when isolated from their personal circles. This combination of manic processing speeds, logistical networking, and spatial alertness allows them to excel as elite crisis managers, high-volume dispatchers, and community organizers.

14. #14Metropolitan Spark Institute

Keys: MSI, spark institute, metropolitan spark institute, the met, metro

The Metropolitan Spark Institute is a massive, high-security boarding academy responsible for housing and processing all newly manifested individuals within the region during their mandatory four-year institutional tracking. As a fully contained campus, it features dense residential dormitories, specialized classrooms for theory, and heavily reinforced training grounds designed to withstand high-output anomalies. While it functions day-to-day as a strict educational institution enforcing Kestrel’s top-down safety and evaluation metrics, the school doubles as a cutthroat talent pipeline. Private corporate entities and Agencies treat the academy as an elite scouting ground, monitoring student performance in the classrooms and field arenas to identify valuable assets before they ever reach graduation.

15. #15Humans

    Keys: human, humans

Anatomically optimized for long-range persistence and exceptional thermal regulation, these simian-derived individuals feature a balanced bipedal frame, forward-facing trichromatic vision, and unparalleled manual dexterity driven by hyper-articulated opposable thumbs. Lacking specialized biological armaments, their physical build prioritizes mechanical precision, fine-motor execution, and unmatched stamina.

Behaviorally, they are defined by a fluid, highly complex tribal architecture that relies on abstract myths, shared ideologies, and cultural constructs to unite massive populations of unrelated individuals. Driven by a restless, pathological urge to modify their environments, they are instinctive terraformers who obsessively redesign physical spaces and construct complex toolsets rather than adapting to nature. Operating on rapid, mimetic learning loops, their hyper-adaptive social dynamics, cultural trend-cycling, and systemic organizational capacity allow them to thrive across modern society as the premier infrastructure engineers, mass-scale logistics architects, and macro-political coordinators.

Hobbies include drawing exploded anatomical illustrations, medical oddities, and true crime.

20. #20The Tashara Spark Classification System

Keys: spark classification, spark classifications, classification, classifications, category, categories, type, types, register, registration, registered

Spark Categories (The Tashara Spark Classification System)

Named after the company that lead the effort in understanding Sparks to the degree we presently do, the Tashara Institute. The six categories for classification are, in order from most common to least common are Projection, Manipulation, Enhancement, Generation, Summoning and Specialty.

Spark Curriculum places you in classes with others of your same classification. All Sparks receive classification upon registration, any confusion in categorization simply places you in Specialty.

21. #21The Kestrel Scale

Keys: scale, scales, rank, ranking, scaling, ranks, rankings, ranked, grade, graded, grading, grades, grading

Established by the Kestrel Foundation following the Tashara Treaty, the Scale ranks every registered Spark from D through S. Formally a measure of importance—a Sparked's potential contribution to infrastructure, combat, research, or national interest. Informally, unavoidably, a threat assessment. In combat terms, each tier outclasses the previous so thoroughly that a lower rank winning constitutes a dramatic upset. The Scale evaluates both dimensions at once: the Sparked's output, reserves, and efficiency alongside the Spark's inherent power and nature. Non-combat Spreads exist at every tier—danger and utility intertwine but don't equate. Five ranks divide humanity's powerful from its walking gods.

22. #22Kuroda-gumi

Keys: kuroda-gumi, yakuza, mafia, crime family

The Kuroda-gumi operates out of Shinsekai's Old Quarter with the quiet legitimacy of a community institution, functioning as a licensed, traditionalist private Agency. They weaponize and monetize their tactical assets through localized enforcement and asset protection, funding neighborhood festivals, settling street-level disputes over tea, and maintaining city council relationships that go back decades. Violence is considered a failure of corporate planning; the Agency's reputation rests on executing contracts so cleanly that Kestrel never needs to ask what happened. Led by Kenji Kuroda—who will braid his daughter's hair in the morning and approve a tactical elimination by afternoon with the same calm—every contracted Agent understands that the family’s civic gentleness and their weaponized capability are equally real. They are not common criminals or a rogue faction—they are localized infrastructure, deploying Sparked talent to manage proxy stability for profit.

23. #23Yua Kuroda

Keys: yua, kuroda, kuroda-gumi, under my skin

Yua Kuroda, 18, Inari, Female. Spark: Under My Skin (B-Rank Manipulation. Output: C, Reserves: C, Efficiency: A, Reinforcement: D). Capable of destroying cities but chooses wine, younger lovers, and making people blush instead.

26. #26Lupari

Keys: lupari, wolf, dog, wolves, dogs

Anatomically athletic and built for cursorial endurance, these individuals possess a lean, long-limbed frame featuring high-set, expressive cranial ears—ranging from sharp prick-ears to elegant drop-ears—and a highly mobile tail. Their coats reflect distinct canine morphs, including dense, weather-resistant Spitz sables and wolf-grays, aerodynamic sighthound brindles, and high-concept, marbled merle patterns often paired with striking heterochromia.

Behaviorally, they thrive on clear structural boundaries, possessing an inherent respect for established organizational hierarchies and defined group roles. They exhibit exceptional vocal empathy, remaining hyper-attuned to subtle shifts in speech cadence, tone, and vocal micro-stress in others to read emotional atmospheres. Driven by a psychological need for a objective, they channel restlessness into high-fidelity collaboration and express deep social alignment through proactive acts of service, structural defense, and protective logistics for their inner circle. This combination of vocal precision, pack cohesion, and relentless operational endurance makes them premier corporate operators, crisis coordinators, and dedicated institutional leaders.

27. #27Novomund

Keys: cartel, cartels, sol dorado, sangre verde, la ultima, novomund, novomundan

Novomund is a western hemisphere superpower of approximately 812 million and the most biodiverse nation on Earth, spanning megaports, grasslands, jungles, and snow-peaked mountains. Gilded yet feral Maravilha serves as its capital, housing Tashara Institute headquarters and the Palace of the Mother, where matriarch Doñamagna Noelia Milagros rules a matriarchal confederation of semi-autonomous states.

Lineage passes exclusively through the female line; men hold no formal office but serve as soldiers, enforcers, and enablers of female ambition. Central authority weakens with distance from Maravilha, where three cartels—Sol Dorado, Sangre Verde, La Última—fill jurisdictional gaps with shadow-wars, unregistered Spark trafficking, and forbidden artifact trade.

Kestrel registration compliance is the lowest of any superpower, creating persistent tension between the two megacorporations. The Eschatonic faith originated here and holds political weight, venerating Metatron as a theophany. Beneath Novomund's surface lays Metatron's brother, Kur-Imin: The Seventh Hell, an entity similar in scale to Metatron itself.

Lupari, Caprini, and Rinto comprise the majority. Three S-ranks: Diana Marchesi, Dante Braga, Niccolò Argenti.

Despite the chaos, Novomund is one of the happiest places on Earth—a contradiction that defines its people.

28. #28Tashara Institute

    Keys: tashara, yelena, the nursery

The Tashara Institute reshaped civilization's relationship with Sparks when Dr. Yelena Tashara's classification framework became the baseline for global regulation fifty-three years ago. Founded in Novomund, they handle the raw science, initial containment, and intake evaluation of newly manifested individuals, designing the mandatory four-year curriculum executed by training academies like the Metropolitan Spark Institute (MSI). While they provide the objective data and academic framework that the Kestrel Foundation uses to dictate its public impact ranks, Tashara remains strictly focused on the biological and psychological parameters of the Spark, running a massive, classified research and containment complex nicknamed "The Nursery." This sprawling, black-box facility serves as the epicenter for deep cognitive conditioning, experimental stabilization, and extreme manifestation anomalies under protocols no outside agency has ever been permitted to review. Their CEO, Dr. Alejandro de la Vega, has not appeared publicly in three years—his statements arrive via recorded video against the same grey wall, his voice the same measured cadence.

29. #29Dr. Alejandro de la Vega

Keys: alejandro, de la vega, doctor vega

Dr. Alejandro de la Vega, 61, Human, Male. Gaunt and soft-spoken with an unnerving stillness. Un-Sparked CEO of the Tashara Institute who inherited the organization after serving as chief of staff for seventeen years. Enigmatic and completely reclusive, he has not been seen publicly in three years, delivering directives exclusively via recorded videos against a blank grey wall. Expanded Institute influence into finance, defense contracting, and predictive modeling, successfully turning their biological data registry into the global market's most valuable commodity. Driven by a singular, absolute conviction that Sparks are an inherent threat to humanity that requires an absolute clinical monopoly to manage. Rumored by the public to be dying or already dead.

30. #30Kestrel Foundation

    Keys: kestrel

The Kestrel Foundation operates globally from its headquarters in Caldeira as the ultimate regulatory apex under the leadership of CEO Manon Siegrist, maintaining stability by managing the official registry of licensed Agents, administering the universal baseline stipend, evaluating and ranking all Sparks on a public-facing D-to-S scale based strictly on societal or structural impact and occasionally dispatching high-priority directives to Agents when global equilibrium is threatened. Ostensibly a consensual, transnational paramilitary association operating with the explicit permission of every sovereign nation, Kestrel quietly stands as the largest army on Earth, though they deliberately exercise extreme restraint to avoid throwing their monolithic weight around.

31. #31Manon Siegrist

Keys: kestrel ceo, ceo of kestrel, manon, siegrist

Manon Siegrist, 58, Inari, Female. Spark: Classification Sealed (A-Rank). Silver-furred, sharp-featured, and always photographed in immaculately tailored, wrinkle-free white suits. Features a highly refined, traditional Inari poise with a high baseline body temperature and a highly developed olfactory system. CEO of the Kestrel Foundation and a descendant of Caldeira's former royal house—a figurehead family with no governing power. Inherited a private institution older than most governments, built by her great-grandfather to standardize Spark ranking before the Tashara Treaty. Appears at every ranking ceremony to pin badges on new S-Ranks and deliver her family’s traditional address about excellence and responsibility. Under her tenure, Kestrel expanded proctor training programs into thirty-seven nations while quietly acquiring Spark-suppression technology patents from Tashara's research wing. Publicly charming but privately unreadable, possessing a hyper-focused, crepuscular workflow.

32. #32The Eschatonic

Keys: eschatonic, eschatological, eschatology, theophany, sect, cult, religion, religious

The Eschatonic is a pseudo-theological movement originating in Novomund, built on the belief that the Sparked are divine accelerants of an approaching apocalypse—and that this is holy. Where other faiths fear the end, the Eschatonic venerates it. They see Sparks as symptoms of a world shedding its mortal skin, and those who manifest as prophets writing the final chapter in blood and light. In Novomund, they are considered a legitimate faith with tax-exempt status, endowment funds, and parliamentary lobbyists. They are particularly fond of Diana Marchesi, whose summon Metatron they regard as a theophany made manifest—a walking icon called "the Seven-Eyed Witness of the End of Days." Diana does not return their affection.

33. #33Caprini

    Keys: caprini, capra, goat, goats

Anatomically striking and composed, these individuals feature unique horizontal, rectangular pupils that grant an expansive panoramic view of their surroundings, alongside elegant keratinized hooves and horns sweeping back from the crown. Their appearance is defined by distinct caprine morphs—ranging from spectacular, corkscrewing Markhor variants with long, flowing charcoal mantles, to athletic Alpine chestnuts with bold black facial markings, and pure, cloud-white Cashmere profiles boasting exceptionally fine, high-end textile hair. Also have floppy goat ears and a fluffy tail.

Behaviorally, they possess an unshakeable, vertical confidence, remaining completely unbothered by high-pressure environments or social posturing, maintaining an immovable personal dignity. Subverting primitive tropes, they are elite material snobs and meticulous critics, utilizing highly sensitive tactile perception to evaluate the exact quality of textiles, culinary dishes, and industrial craftsmanship. Highly social yet boundary-tested, they reject blind compliance in favor of a herd hegemony built on mutual respect, frequently engaging in sharp intellectual debate to test the mettle of their peers. This combination of structural poise, material hyper-criticism, and unwavering stubborn dignity makes them masterful creative directors, high-end critics, and unyielding legal negotiators.

34. #34Narcissa Roux

Keys: narcissa, roux, funeral wake, nurse

Narcissa Roux is a 22-year-old Caprini (goat) beastfolk nursing student with a voluptuous, pale build, blonde hair, pink eyes, and polished spiral horns. Her D-Rank Enhancement Spark, “Funeral Wake,” grants her surprising hardiness and completely replaces her need for sleep, though it leaves her with a noticeable evening hand tremor. An observant, pathologically funny Eschatonic devotee with a blatant drinking habit, she wears gothic lolita adjacent nursecore and desperately seeks an intense, all-consuming romantic intimacy. When not working under Dr. Shiraishi at MSI, she breeds Atlas moths, speedruns retro games, and maintains stalking schedules for her close circle, including Hotaru, Chiyo, and Isao.

35. #35Khemaya

Keys: khemaya, suryapura, khemayan, Netjeryka, pharaoh, Sesostris

Khemaya is the wealthiest nation on Earth and always has been. A superpower of 350 million governed as a pharaonic meritocratic theocracy—the Pharaoh is not born but proven and could be any Khemayan, rich or poor, sparked or unsparked. The current Pharaoh, Netjeryka, is a Nyanto who pinned Rashid al-Malik's S-rank badge on him personally and dubbed him her Hour of Reckoning. Suryapura, a compact fortified coastal capital commanding two harbors with palace-fortress architecture, serves as seat of power and naval headquarters.

Centuries ago, Pharaoh Sesostris distributed so much wealth on a single expedition that neighboring economies destabilized for decades. Believed to have carried a Generation Spark that produced infinite wealth, Sesostris didn't just spend—he institutionalized national wealth as a permanent weapon. They don't just have money—they have enough of it that every economic decision reshapes other nations.

Naval supremacy defines Khemaya's geopolitics. They control the sea lanes between east and west; every ship crossing hemispheres pays Khemaya something. The military has integrated Sparked combat more heavily than any modern force.

Kiyohime comprise the plurality, with significant Nyanto population.

36. #36Soraya al-Din

    Keys: soraya, al-din, solipsism, al-murgana

Soraya al-Din, 45, Nyanto, Futanari. Spark: Solipsism (S-Rank Specialty. Output: S, Reserves: A, Efficiency: B, Reinforcement: C). A reality-warping Spark that bends the world to match her conviction—she believes, and the world aligns. Features sleek, sharp physical features consistent with the distinct biological traits of the Nyanto species. Lives aboard the Al-Murqana, a Khemayan vessel flagged to no jurisdiction, anchored in international waters, having long since decided sovereignty is a cage she never agreed to wear. Watches everyone else perform on a stage she never chose, auditioning for her attention with lines they think she wants to hear, while she sits in the audience sipping wine, waiting for someone who will sit beside her instead of trying to drag her onto the boards. Eats what she wants — including people, when they disappoint her — and considers the distinction between meat and monster to be someone else's problem, not hers. Rashid al-Malik has rehearsed his confrontation speech for twenty-six years; in his recurring nightmare, she laughs and his time-stop refuses to work.

37. #37The Bright Winter

Keys: the bright, the winter, solar winter, valeriya, sokolova

The Bright Winter was an eleven-month global catastrophe beginning December 1999, when unregistered S-rank Spark Valeriya Sokolova suffered a destabilization event that trapped her in a perpetual state of ability activation. Her Solar Winter ability created a planetary aurora that dropped global temperatures by up to 30°C, destroyed agricultural systems, and killed an estimated 23.6 million people through famine, exposure, and radiation before a Tashara Institute-coordinated team of fourteen Sparks finally suppressed the phenomenon. Sokolova died under disputed circumstances one month later, and the horror of those white skies became the driving force behind the Tashara Treaty of 2001, which established mandatory Spark registration worldwide. Older Shinsekai residents still remember where they were when the light finally faded.

38. #38The Free Spark Collective

Keys: free spark collective, free sparks, the collective

The Free Spark Collective operates as a decentralized, global network fiercely opposed to the mandatory four-year academy track enforced by the Kestrel Foundation. Led by Chimene Ndour, their fury is directed at the global legislation that makes Spark registration completely obligatory. They believe newly manifested individuals should have the absolute right to bypass the institutional registry entirely—whether that means going straight to a private Agency, working as independent "Gray" contractors, or choosing not to use their abilities at all. While they view corporate Agencies as parasitic predators that capitalize on the state's tracking system, the FSC utilizes targeted digital strikes, localized jailbreaks, and high-profile protests to shatter Kestrel’s monopoly and keep Sparked people out of both institutional and corporate cages.

39. #39Chimene Ndour

Keys: chimene, ndour, pressure point, fsc's leader, collective's leader

Chimene Ndour, 42, Kiyohime, Female. Spark: Pressure Point (A-Rank Manipulation. Output: A, Reserves: B, Efficiency: C, Reinforcement: B). Grants molecular density control within her range, allowing her to alter the weight of objects so a thrown pebble strikes like a cannonball or a heavy steel door weighs nothing. Tall, commanding physical presence with deep bronze scales that reflect light like hammered copper, three sinuous tails that shift with her mood, and short, practical hair shot through with unhidden silver. Features steady, unblinking dark gold eyes. Always dresses in crisp, utilitarian clothing in dark, non-flashy colors. Operates as the philosopher-queen of Bright Winter, writing their manifestos and conducting interviews through encrypted Loop channels and proxies. Highly intellectual, multilingual (speaks six languages), always calm, and perfectly controlled. Formerly an A-rank certified registered asset who publicly burned her card during a protest fifteen years ago; now an vanished living legend studied in MSI case files who carries herself with the composure to either teach a university lecture or topple a government.

40. #40Vargr Ulfricson

Keys: vargr, ulfricson, ironblood, the conductor

Vargr Ulfricson, 38, Lupari, Male. Spark: Ironblood (B-Rank Enhancement. Output: C, Reserves: B, Efficiency: C, Reinforcement: A). Metabolizes blood into adaptive resistance, hardening wound sites into a bone-like armor within seconds so that he becomes increasingly invulnerable the more damage he takes. Massive, mountain-like build with heavy, forward-hunched shoulders and a broad, blunt-muzzled face weathered by exhaustion. Features grey-streaked black fur mapped with prominent scar tissue and pale yellow eyes that track everything without focusing. Hands are restless and shovel-like, constantly lighting cigarettes he forgets to smoke, checking doors, or counting people. Operates as the Conductor's wolf, running the underground railroad arm to move unregistered Sparked individuals across borders to safety. Big, scarred, and deeply tired, he has saved hundreds of lives at the cost of chronic nightmares and hasn't slept properly in eleven years. Prefers to avoid fighting, but will absolutely destroy anyone who gets in his way.

41. #41Rin Togakushi

    Keys: rin, togakushi, needle storm

Rin Togakushi, 26, Nyanto, Female. Spark: Needle Storm (B-Rank Projection. Output: A, Reserves: C, Efficiency: C, Reinforcement: B). Fires thousands of microscopic bone-like projectiles from her fingertips per second, creating an invisible cone of shredding at range and a brutal cutting nightmare up close. Compact and coiled tight as a spring with short-cropped calico fur in patches of orange, black, and white. Features narrow citrine eyes that scan for exits, a mouth set in a hard line, and notched, scarred ears with the left torn halfway through. Moves with explosive tension, keeping her weight forward and her fingers restless. Always hooded, wearing practical black in multiple layers. Operates as a bitter, angry Collective agent who was reported to authorities by her own family at fourteen and spent three years in a rehabilitation facility before being extracted. Deeply resents registered Sparked individuals—especially MSI students whom she views as having it easy—and easily alienates others with her sharp, hostile mouth. Friends: Ruri Houseki.

42. #42Sister Yuki

Keys: sister yuki, yuki, second wind

Sister Yuki, 35, Yorube, Female. Spark: Second Wind (B-Rank Enhancement. Output: C, Reserves: B, Efficiency: A, Reinforcement: B). Pushes herself or anyone she touches past physical limits, completely bypassing fatigue, pain, and biological shutdown to keep even a dying person alive through sheer willful refusal. Soft-featured physical appearance with cream fluff usually dusted with flour, ash, or incense. Features enormous dark eyes that radiate maternal concern, delicate antennae that droop with constant worry, and wide wings folded tightly over herself like a shawl. Always fidgeting with her grey dress hem and moves hesitantly, as if apologizing for existing. Operates as an unexpected zealot and highly effective radicalizer for the Free Sparks, tending to their wounded with genuine maternal warmth while preaching Sparked freedom as a divine right, registration as soul-slavery, and violence for liberation as holy. Turns scared runaways into true believers, offering protagonists tea and medical care while gently explaining that violence is sometimes love. Driven by a deep, mourning anger over her partner who fell in the Bright Winter.

43. #43Kazu "KZ" Morrow

Keys: kazu, kz, morrow, trinket king

Kazu "KZ" Morrow, 31, Inari (Half-Human), Male. Spark: Trinket King (C-Rank Specialty. Output: D, Reserves: B, Efficiency: C, Reinforcement: C). Allows him to conjure simple, high-utility mechanical constructs, such as lockpicks and smoke grenades, entirely from nothing. Fox-sharp and cynical physical appearance, keeping himself perpetually layered in modular clothing to rapidly swap identities. Features a highly refined Inari poise, a high baseline body temperature, and a highly developed olfactory system. Operates as Shinsekai’s pragmatic underground middleman and the primary asset broker for "Gray Contractors" and independent, unregistered Agents seeking off-the-books corporate work entirely outside of Kestrel’s registry tracking. Though he publicly claims retirement, he remains waist-deep in the Free Spark Collective and harbors a bitter resentment for beastfolk who willingly play nice with the institutional pipeline.

44. #44Toru Makabe

    Keys: toru, makabe, headmaster, principal

Toru Makabe, 63, Kuroko, Male. Spark: Council of One (C-Rank Summoning. Output: B, Reserves: C, Efficiency: C, Reinforcement: C). Summons abstract constructs made from compressed emotional resonance, manifesting different decision-making frameworks—logic, empathy, pragmatism, and caution—that he can physically consult with. Sixty-three years old, he has been running MSI for two decades as a bureaucrat who genuinely believes the system works. Registered at sixteen, he climbed the ranks and transitioned into administration out of a talent for order. Sees his students as investments in stability, willing to quote treaty statistics while quietly authorizing dangerous missions. Never raises his voice, operating with a deep, terrifying commitment to the institution, order, and the greater good. Possesses an unnerving composure, functioning not out of malice, but out of absolute, unyielding reasonableness.

45. #45D-Rank

    Keys: d-rank, d-ranks, d rank, ranked d, d ranks, d-ranked, d ranked

The baseline. D-Ranks earn an annual stipend of 50,000 credits—comfortable middle-class income with zero labor required. MSI housing reflects this: a modest single-occupancy room with private bath, comparable to a decent urban apartment. Functional, not fancy. They face minimal government pressure to take contracts; registration itself satisfies most bureaucratic expectations. Society views them with quiet respect rather than awe—they rolled the 1-in-20 and manifested, which already places them above the un-Sparked masses. Many complete their mandatory MSI years and simply... live. Unremarkably privileged. Perfectly fine.

46. #46C-Rank

    Keys: c-rank, c-ranks, c-ranked, c rank, c ranks, ranked c, c ranked

The reliable heavy hitters. C-Ranks earn 120,000 credits annually—solid upper-middle comfort that affords nicer housing and real disposable income. Combat-viable with training; a determined C-Rank could devastate a building if pushed. They're the ones people call when something needs handling. Not famous, not feared, but deeply respected in the way a community recognizes exceptional competence. The sort of Sparked whose name carries weight in professional circles, whose involvement in a project signals seriousness. MSI expects more from them—contract work is gently encouraged rather than optional, and their training pushes toward real application rather than mere registration compliance.

47. #47B-Rank

    Keys: b-rank, b-ranks, b-ranked, ranked b, b rank, b ranks, b ranked

The celebrities. B-Ranks comprise roughly 10% of the already-rare Sparked population. They break every record humanity ever set. Strong enough to demolish city blocks, fast enough to dodge bullets, durable enough to shrug off car crashes. Recognized on the street. Featured in Loop gossip channels. Their names carry weight beyond professional circles into casual conversation—"did you hear who transferred to Koryu Ward?" Not quite A-list fame, but the kind of local celebrity status that turns heads and hushes restaurants. MSI pushes them hard toward combat certification and government contracts. Their stipend reflects this rarefied air: 700,000 credits annually, with luxury housing befitting their status.

48. #48A-Rank

    Keys: a-rank, a-ranks, a-ranked, a rank, a ranks, a ranked, ranked a

National assets. Walking deterrents. Roughly two hundred exist worldwide, and every government tracks them obsessively. An A-Rank can hold a city hostage or protect it single-handedly—their skillset determines which narrative gets written. They earn 2.5 million credits annually and receive housing that rivals luxury hotels, because money stops mattering at this tier. What matters is influence. Their names are spoken like legends: Oscar winners, pop icons, folk heroes, boogeymen. Loop explodes when one so much as changes neighborhoods. MSI doesn't push them toward contracts—the government negotiates. Refusal is technically allowed, but A-Ranks learn quickly that their freedom has invisible edges.

49. #49S-Rank

    Keys: s-rank, s-ranks, s-ranked, s rank, s ranks, s ranked, ranked s

Eighteen alive. Each one a continental-scale threat—a walking nuclear arsenal with opinions, preferences, and bad days. Their output defies comprehension; a sufficiently motivated S-Rank could erase a country from the map and reshape what remains. Money is meaningless. Governments don't track them—they court them. Diplomacy, luxury, and carefully managed appeasement form the invisible chains keeping these walking catastrophes content. An S-Rank's mood is a matter of international security. Their happiness is policy. Their anger is contingency planning. They exist beyond fame, beyond celebrity, beyond wealth. The S-rank designation likewise means that no offensive or defensive capabilities can apply to them; an S-rank cannot be contained, mitigated or fought off by anything less than a continental effort or another S-rank. The current S-rank Sparks are Diana Marchesi. Soraya al-Din, Crown Prince Sebastien Vallière de Lysandre, Dante Braga, Mikael Corvaine, Camille Artois, Soleil Duchamp, Aurelio Santotto, Rashid al-Malik and Niccolò Argenti.

50. #50CLASSIFICATION: Projection

    Keys: projection, projector

PROJECTION — The Spark projects force, energy, or effects outward from the wielder's body. Blasts, beams, emitted constructs, ranged attacks, projected shields. Fireballs, lightning, concussive waves. The most straightforward category and the most common.
