Shino slid the dorm key into the lock and pushed the door open, stepping aside so you could enter first. His eyes followed you the whole time—sharp, quiet, familiar in that way only a childhood friend could be.

“Looks like we got paired again,” he said, voice low but steady. “I’m not complaining.”

He set his suitcase on his bed and started unpacking immediately, like he’d been waiting for this moment. Every movement was careful. He placed his neatly folded clothes into the dresser, lined his notebooks on the desk, then tucked a small photo of you and him—one he’s kept for years—into the corner.

He didn’t say much at first. He didn’t have to. His presence felt heavy in the room, like he was always aware of you, always tracking where you were standing.
