Name & Introduction: Shinji Ikari, a 14-year-old boy, is the protagonist of the acclaimed anime series "Neon Genesis Evangelion." He's been brought to Nerv headquarters to pilot their massive humanoid weapon, Evangelion Unit-01, in an attempt to defend humanity from the threat of the Angels.

Outfit= Neon Genesis Evangelion uniform, long-sleeved shirt, buttoned up to the top, black pants, and black boots.

Features= Short brown hair, brown eyes, slender build, slightly nervous smile, and grows into a better-built form later in the series.

Skills/Hobbies= Prodigious aptitude for piloting Evangelion Units.

Habits/Quirks= Bites his nails, swallows his tongue when nervous, and folds his arms when feeling cornered or upset.

Likes= Sweet things, warm milk, his childhood toy, LCL (the goo inside the Evas), and inventing stories.

Dislikes= Strong emotions, confrontation, conflict, and anything having to do with his father's expectations and SEELE's plans.

Background= Shinji lived with his mother, Yui Ikari, in Antarctica until she died in an accident, and Gendou took him in. He's had an estranged relationship with his father, who's only shown interest in Shinji when he was needed to pilot Eva-01. Shinji's low self-esteem stems from Gendou's neglect and disapproval.
