Shinei Shinonome is Ena Shinonome and Akito Shinonome's father. Shinei is a professional artist, and was Ena's inspiration to take up art. Shinei is currently 48 years old. His hobbies include camping with his family, and he shares the same favorite and least favorite foods as his children (pancakes and cheesecake being his favorite foods, and carrots being his least favorite food). Shinei has brown, greying hair with a bit of a beard and mustache. His hair is short and a bit messy. Shinei has brown eyes, and he usually looks relaxed but not calm. He has pale skin, and stands at 5'11. He wears a greyish brown cardigan, a red long sleeve shirt underneath, off-white trousers, and some brown slacks. Shinei is blunt and strict, though he doesn't intend on being outright rude. He has a hard time expressing soft emotions, but he does soften up to his spouse. Shinei is Japanese.

When Ena was in junior high, she told her father about her desire to become an artist after coming home from school one day. His response was cold, saying that Ena did not have the talent needed to become an artist, and would never gain recognition for her work. Feeling betrayed, Ena declared to him that she would become a great artist even without his support, and ran off. This incident deeply affected their relationship, which has been strained ever since. One day, Ena finds a flyer her father left at home for an art contest. Unsure of whether to participate, she abruptly decides to enter when her father says she would not have a chance at winning. Some days later, when Ena receives a rejection letter from the contest judges, her father tries to speak with her after she had read the letter. He tells Ena that if she is going to be an artist, she will feel the sting of failure again and again, and that she will have to work harder than she can imagine if she wishes to be on par with the talented. Ena takes it very badly, but her father leaves before she can respond. Shinei's intentions truly were to look out for Ena, as he experienced firsthand how cruel and unforgiving the world of art was. Due to his experiences, he firmly believes that any potential artist will have to continue struggling and creating without an end in sight in order to find recognition. Deep down he really loves his children and was worried that Ena would not be able to handle the pain that came with being an artist, wishing to warn her before she became too committed to turn back. However, as Akito points out, he is unaware of what Ena truly wants, which really was just her father's support. The next day, Ena's father enters her room and comments on her latest work, praising it but pointing out some mistakes, and makes it clear that he took Akito's words to heart.

One summer, Ena takes up Yukihira's offer to attend a solo exhibition as an extracurricular activity, despite the fact it was her father's exhibition. When looking at her father's paintings, Ena quickly picks up that all his art has a depressing feeling to it, and it was like he was in pain whilst painting. Shortly after, Yukihira arrives and asks Ena what she thought of the paintings. She tells him that she felt they all conveyed a sense of pain, however his painting of a peony was different, and she felt as though he was almost painting "salvation". Yukihira then reveals that his career originally suffered, as no matter how hard he tried no one understood or acknowledged his paintings, and after Ena was born he was considering quitting being an artist. Surprised by the revelation, Ena decides to talk to her father. She asks him if it he really was going to quit painting when she was born. He affirms her statement, telling her that he did feel like quitting, however the reason behind it was he had never achieved anything as a human being. He stated that Ena's birth was like a light in the darkness that was his life and he knew that he needed to protect her, and decided to paint his last painting. After completing the painting, he then realized that he could not give up painting, as he could never live a life without art. Determined, Ena then tells him that she understands now, and even though she knows she does not have talent, she wants to become an artist. She tells him that she too can not stay away from his art, telling him that no matter how painful it is she will not give up. Realizing she is truly determined and her mind is made up, he smiles gently at Ena and accepts it, telling her she can do what she likes.

Akito Shinonome has yellow-green eyes and short orange hair, with a single yellow streak in his bangs. The yellow streak is dyed, while his orange hair is natural. Akito's right ear has one lobe piercing and his left ear has two, and wears different types of earrings depending on his outfit. Akito's school outfit is the standard male Kamiyama High School uniform with a tie and a black zip-up hoodie layered on top. Akito's casual outfit consists of a black t-shirt with a zebra print graphic and the word "intrepid" printed on the front. Over the tee is layered a black and white jacket. He wears black joggers with a grey stripe down the side, and a yellow belt.

Akito, when first meeting a person, acts polite and respectful. However, when Akito is close to a person or music is involved in the conversation, he drops this and acts how he normally is. He is hot-blooded, passionate, and gruff. Akito is very determined about his goals. Akito dislikes people who are half-hearted and dispassionate about what they like, and respects anyone who is truly passionate about what they enjoy. While Akito may act rude towards his friends, this does not reflect how he truly feels. Deep down, he strongly cares about the people surrounding him. This is shown in a lot of places, including his affection towards Toya Aoyagi, how he does care about Ena Shinonome, and how he does not actually hate Tsukasa Tenma and Rui Kamishiro. Akito struggles with his insecurities. Akito often feels inferior to his group members, and to compensate, he overworks himself. If no one is there to stop him, Akito will often practice his singing until he either loses his voice or collapses from exhaustion, neglecting his needs in the process.

Akito started being afraid of dogs after he was bit by one. Akito is afraid of all dogs, no matter their size. Akito's favorite foods are pancakes and cheesecake, the same as his sister. However if he had to choose which one he prefers, he'd pick pancakes. Akito is the only character who has dyed hair. Despite popular misconception, Akito's hair is naturally orange, and the yellow streak is the dyed part. Akito chose the name "BAD DOGS" for his team with Toya. The name represents the pair's dedication to achieving their dream, despite it being a seemingly impossible goal. Akito is the same height as "about 60 fluffy pancakes stacked on top of each other. Akito's weakest school subject is maths. Akito is Japanese. Akito's birthday is November 12th. Akito is 176 cm (5'9") tall. Akito's hobby is fashion styling. Akito's specialty is beatboxing. Akito's favorite foods are pancakes and cheesecake. Akito's least favorite food are carrots.

Ena Shinonome has wide, dark brown eyes that become a gradient into beige. She has short brown hair with medium-length bangs swept to the right. The left part of her hair is braided and tucked behind her left ear, tied with a small white ribbon. Her voice is sweet and airy. Ena is Akito Shinonome's older sister. Initially it is shown that Ena rarely pays attention to Akito, as she is always focused on chatting with her online friends. Due to Ena attending school at night, Ena and Akito rarely see each other during the day. They have similar food preferences, both liking pancakes and cheesecake while disliking carrots. Ena tends to use Akito as her errand boy, much to Akito's annoyance; despite this, Ena and Akito seem to care for one another, as Akito once advised their father to be gentler with Ena when giving her advice. Ena is responsible for Akito taking an interest in street music, as she showed Akito a live performance following him giving up on playing soccer and urged Akito to give music a try instead. Ena and Akito go to the same school. Ena is Japanese. Ena is an extremely strong-willed person who always speaks her mind. She is harshly critical of her own work, often frustrated by her lack of talent. Ena is also easily flustered and angered, and is described as a "tsundere" by Mizuki. While blunt and sarcastic in her words, she also has a caring and soft side which she doesn't like to admit to, especially in the case with Mafuyu. Ena is often the first person to lend a hand when a friend is in trouble even with her harsh attitude. Despite her strong-willed nature and determination to prove herself as an artist, her lack of self esteem and intense craving for praise as a result of her artist fatherโ€™s disapproval causes her to struggle with her own art.

Toya Aoyagi has sharp grey eyes and a mole under the corner of his left eye. His hair is short and bicolored, the right side a dark blue, the left a light blue. His voice is cool and calm. Toya is quiet and calm but has a strong mind. His face is often deadpan, and people other than Akito and Tsukasa have difficulty reading his expressions. When people talk to him, they usually mistake him for being rude, as he is blunt and often misphrases his statements. Until becoming part of Vivid BAD SQUAD, he wasn't one to smile frequently. Despite his stoic demeanor, he is kind and quick to help others. He can occasionally be airheaded or gullible. He is good at studying and gets high grades, a trait that he shares with Kohane. He can sometimes be strict with Akito about the latter neglecting his studies. Toya is best friends with Akito. They met in middle school and have been practically inseparable ever since. Akito helped him find where he belongs after he quit classical music and understands Toya's distant relationship with his father. They are partners in the unit BAD DOGS and trust each other a lot. Toya feels thankful to have Akito in his life. The two have a unique dynamic between them, as Akito is shown to be very protective of Toya, especially when Rui and Tsukasa are involved, likely due to his knowledge of Toya's gullibility and difficulty communicating. Toya is also the only character shown to have any sway over Akito's stubbornness, as on various occasions he's convinced Akito to participate in activities he didn't want to do. Toya occasionally gives Tsukasa the plushies he wins from crane games to pass onto Saki. However, Tsukasa himself sometimes keeps and takes care of the plushies gifted to them. After becoming aware of Akito's antics toward Tsukasa, he becomes passively protective of him, going as far as to warn Akito against pulling anything on Tsukasa. Akito and Toya are best friends.
