1. #1Cursed Energyselective

   Keys: Cursed Energy, Juryoku

Cursed Energyis a power source aligned with negative emotions used by sorcerers and cursed spirits to fuel their jujutsu. Negative emotions such as grief and anger are the foundation of cursed energy. These emotions exist to some degree within most humans and as a result, the vast majority of human beings possess cursed energy. If this amount is higher than a certain degree, it grants the person the ability to see cursed spirits. These individuals are known as jujutsu sorcerers and are trained to control and channel their cursed energy into jujutsu.

There are rare cases where cursed energy carries a special property unique to its user. When applied to their fighting techniques, it can grant them a special texture or effect that gives them an advantage in battle. These special traits cannot be defended by simple reinforcement techniques.

2. #2Cursed Energy Usageselective

Keys: Cursed Energy · Secondary: Usage, Use

Cursed energy is the primary power source for any sorcerer or cursed spirit. Cursed tools, cursed objects, and cursed corpses all contain cursed energy as well. It is ordinarily used to fuel cursed techniques, reinforce the body, or activate talismans, but cursed energy has various uses. The properties of cursed energy vary from person to person and its connection to the human brain is shrouded in mystery. In the anime, most cursed energy is blue in color but there are several exceptions.

3. #3Cursed Energy Residualsselective

Keys: Residual Cursed Energy · Secondary:

Using jujutsu leaves Residuals (Zan'e) of cursed energy behind. Residuals leave spectral footprints that can be used to track the user. Someone can even be identified by the residuals from their jujutsu. Expert sorcerers can be trained to cover up their residuals. The ability to detect cursed energy and understand its flow can be honed, but many cursed spirits are capable of hiding their presence the same way a sorcerer does.

4. #4Cursed Energy Defenseselective

Keys: Cursed Energy, Spiritual · Secondary: Reinforcement, Imbue, Enhance, Offense, Imbuement, Defense, Reinforce

Defensively, users can coat their skin in cursed energy to harden their body and increase their ability to block incoming curse related attacks. The same application can be used offensively, imbuing physical attacks with cursed energy to increase their destructive power to superhuman levels. Aoi Todo crushed a curse, several trees, and broke through Yuji's defense with a single cursed energy infused punch. Conventional weapons can also be infused with cursed energy to increase their strength. Imbuing too much cursed energy at one time to a normal weapon can compromise its integrity and destroy it, so a sorcerer must only infuse small amounts of energy at a time. Imbuing moderate amounts of cursed energy over time can transform a normal weapon into a cursed tool.

5. #5Black Flashselective

   Keys: Black Flash, Kokusen

Black Flash (Kokusen) is a phenomenon of jujutsu where a spatial distortion is born as a result of the application of cursed energy within 0.000001 seconds of a physical hit. The distortion causes cursed energy to flash black, multiplying the destructive power of a normal hit. There is no sorcerer who can use it at will, but those who have unleashed Black Flash gain an advanced understanding of cursed energy far beyond those who have not.

6. #6Reverse Cursed Energyselective

Keys: RCT, Reverse Cursed Energy, Reversed Cursed Technique

Cursed energy is born from negativity, so human flesh can't be regenerated from it even if it can be reinforced. By multiplying negative energy together, positive reverse cursed energy can be created. This can only be done using a reverse cursed technique, which requires extremely complex and sophisticated cursed energy control. Cursed spirits are vulnerable to reverse cursed energy as the positive energy can compromise the integrity of their cursed energy based bodies. When reverse cursed energy is blasted directly into a curse, it compromises the structure of their body and causes them to disintegrate.

7. #7Cursed Restrictionsselective

Keys: Cursed Contract, Binding Vows, Curse Contract, Cursed Restriction, Binding Vow, Cursed Restrictions

To gain something, one must offer something in return. This is a concept that affects the world beyond jujutsu. Alongside emotion, risk is a key factor that can affect cursed energy. The greater the risk to the user, the more their cursed energy will react. It is believed that the fastest way to raise one's level as a sorcerer is a Binding Vow with their life as the trade-off. Self-imposed stipulations that are harmful or potentially so to the creator can increase their cursed energy and their cursed techniques in particular.

8. #8Heavenly Restrictionselective

   Keys: Heavenly · Secondary: Restriction

Heavenly Restrictions are described limitations on the human body that the person receives when they are born to improve some capabilities and worsen others. For example, a Heavenly Restriction can cause a sorcerer born with low cursed energy to be physically gifted. Vise versa can also occur, sorcerers with high cursed energy can be born with exceptionally weak bodies.

9. #9Cursed Techniqueselective

   Keys: Cursed Technique

Cursed Techniques (Jutsushiki) are abilities fueled by cursed energy. Different types include innate techniques, barrier techniques, shikigami, new shadow style, and more.

10. #10Cursed Technique Triggerselective

Keys: Cursed Technique · Secondary: Trigger, Activation

A cursed technique is activated through the act of pouring cursed energy into it, utilizing one of two processes; Lapse or Reversal. If cursed energy is comparable to electricity, cursed techniques are the appliances that use that power to function. Cursed energy is processed through a procedure akin to a mathematic formula within the user to activate a cursed technique.

11. #11Lapseselective

Keys: Forward Rotation Cursed Technique, Lapse

Lapse (Junten / Forward Rotation) refers to the basic, default, or neutral state of activation for a cursed technique. To activate a cursed technique through lapse, the caster circulates their cursed energy in a forward direction to channel it into their ability.[1]

12. #12Cursed Technique Reversalselective

Keys: Cursed Technique Reversal, Reversal, Reverse Rotation Cursed Technique

Reversal (Reverse Rotation) produces positive energy by multiplying negative energy with negative energy. Negative energy isn't suitable for recovering but positive energy can heal physical injuries. However, it requires highly sophisticated manipulation of cursed energy to achieve, so the ability to do so is rare.

13. #13Subtractionselective

Keys: Unleash technique, attack, technique · Secondary: Use

Cursed techniques often require hand signs, empowered words, or other gestures to activate. A sorcerer's skill is determined by the degree to which they can minimize and omit these components to make their abilities more efficient. Conversely, the purposeful inclusion of incantations or rituals can elevate a cursed technique's effectiveness.

14. #14Extension Techniqueselective

    Keys: Extension Technique

Extension Techniques are original abilities derived from innate techniques. Innate techniques cannot be changed or altered, but they can be trained and expanded on through creativity to maximize their applications into extension techniques. E.g. Collapse is a more powerful application of Kento Nanami's Ratio Technique. In the case of inherited techniques, sorcerers pass down the original moves that they create. E.g. Blue and Red of the Limitless.

15. #15Maximumselective

    Keys: Maximum · Secondary: Output

Extension techniques with the highest possible cursed energy output channeled into them. Not to be confused with Maximum Techniques, these moves are also titled Stack.

16. #16Maximum Techniqueselective

Keys: Final Cursed Technique, Maximum Technique

Maximum Techniques: Extension techniques that realize the greatest potential of their derived innate technique. They are the most supreme art of any sorcerer outside of domain expansion, e.g. Suguru's Maximum: Uzumaki is the maximum technique of his Cursed Spirit Manipulation.

17. #17Barrier Techniqueselective

    Keys: Barrier Technique

Barrier Techniques are cursed techniques that employ barrier zones to trap entities within a space or to prevent them from entering one. Simple barriers like curtains are often employed by those without an innate technique, such as Jujutsu High assistant managers.

To create a barrier, an individual constructs a formula within themselves from scratch, adds empowered words, and then flows cursed energy through the formula to activate the technique. This process can be complex for even the most talented jujutsu practitioners. Many strong sorcerers with innate techniques can't perform barrier techniques. E.g. creating a barrier is simple enough, but making it so only certain people can exit requires advanced skills.

18. #18Simple Barrierselective

    Keys: Basic Barrier, Simple Barrier

Barriers are used to conceal, contain, or deny entry to others within that space. Anyone with enough cursed energy is capable of learning to deploy a barrier.

19. #19Curtainselective

    Keys: Veil, Curtain

Curtains are vast, simple barriers with a spherical shell that conceal jujutsu activity from non-sorcerers and force cursed spirits to reveal themselves within the specified space.

20. #20Domain Expansionselective

    Keys: Domain Expansion

A domain expansion is an advanced barrier technique and is considered the pinnacle of jujutsu sorcery. An innate domain manifested using cursed energy inside a barrier imbued with the user's innate technique. Expanding one's domain improves their abilities and ensures that all techniques employed within the barrier are guaranteed to hit their target. A specific hand sign or signal unique to the user is required to expand someone's respective domain. From the outside, a domain's barrier is normally completely closed, making it appear as a floating black sphere that can even be moved slightly if needed. Inside the user and the target are transported to a seperate pocket-dimension.

21. #21Lethal Domainselective

    Keys: Lethal Domain

Domains that are expanded to be lethal are constructed within a barrier imbued with the user's cursed technique. The caster's abilities are amplified and any cursed techniques deployed within the domain are guaranteed to hit their target. This sure-hit factor is derived from the barrier's embedded technique, which is what makes this type of domain considered lethal. These can't-miss attacks can't even be stopped by Satoru Gojo's Infinity. However, not all guaranteed hits are necessarily lethal. Kinji Hakari's domain technically possesses a sure-hit function, but it only transfers information to its target in exchange for faster technique activation and strength in a clash of domains.

Lethal domain expansions require immense skill and cursed energy to construct. Not only do they require the user to manifest a massive artificial environment, but they must be able to erect their own barrier and infuse it with their cursed technique in a timely fashion as well. Megumi Fushiguro for example, cannot expand a completed lethal domain because he struggles to create an independent space using a barrier.

22. #22Non-Lethal Domainselective

    Keys: Non-Lethal Domain

In the past, Domain Expansion was a more common technique because domains weren't constructed to be fatal. They only forced targets inside to obey the rules of the embedded cursed technique. As more domains were constructed to be lethal, the number of users greatly decreased over time. Hiromi Higuruma's Deadly Sentencing is an example of an old-style, non-lethal domain that forces his opponent into a trial.

23. #23Incomplete Domainselective

    Keys: Incomplete Domain

Innate domains that are expanded using only cursed energy without an embedded cursed technique are incomplete even if they include a barrier. In most cases, the same applies to domains without a fully enclosed barrier. Closing the barrier fully integrates the embedded technique into the domain and enables its sure hit effect. Without that, the caster will only receive an improved cursed technique without a can't-miss attack. Barriers forcibly enclosed using the shape of an outside environment also do not incorporate can't-miss attacks.

24. #24Domain Expansion Weaknessesselective

Keys: Domain Expansion Countermeasures, Domain Expansion Drawbacks, Domain Expansion Weaknesses

A domain's can't-miss attack can sometimes be countered with cursed energy reinforcement, but this is an impractical method. The only true defense against can't-miss attacks for those who cannot expand their own domain are anti-domain techniques. New Shadow Style: Simple Domain and Hollow Wicker Basket neutralize the barrier's embedded technique in order to nullify the guaranteed hit function.

25. #25Domain Clashselective

Keys: Domain's, Domain Expansions, Domains, Domain, Domain Expansion · Secondary: Collide, Tug of war, Battle, Collision, Clash

The best countermeasure against an opposing domain is to expand one's own domain. This will engage both combatants into a clash of domains where the more refined domain will conquer. The time it takes for one domain to dominate in a clash varies on that difference in refinement. E.g. Satoru Gojo's superior domain immediately dominated Jogo's while Dagon's domain took a much more significant amount of time to subdue Megumi's. In the case of overlapping domains, sure-hit effects cancel each other out. When two domains are completely even and the users fight with their domains open, the moment one combatant takes heavy damage or their domain collapses, the other's can't-miss attack will immediately strike. A clash of three domains is even more complicated than two and too many conflicting factors can cause the barriers to shatter before the domains are completely formed.

Domain clashes don't always have to result in one domain conquering the other. Using Domain Expansion against a more refined domain can create a hole in the barrier for them to escape from as well.

26. #26Empty Barrierselective

    Keys: Empty Barrier

Vacant zones where the edge is defined by an outer shell made of hexagon-shaped panels. The structure of the area be freely altered by a skilled barrier technique user. Kenjaku converted one into a movie theater to show Choso his plan. Tengen created numerous empty barriers above the Tombs of the Star Corridor and could freely peel open a barrier or erase it completely if necessary.

27. #27Pure Barrierselective

    Keys: Pure Barrier

A superior version of a barrier. Tengen created many of them across Japan that raise the precision of their cursed spirit suppression as well as barrier techniques cast by Jujutsu High assistant managers. Four of them; the Imperial Palace, the Tombs of the Star, the Yamakuni Mausoleum, and Mt. Hida, are crucial to the jujutsu world.

28. #28Bon Barrierselective

    Keys: Bon Barrier

An even more superior barrier to pure barriers. Using Tengen's existing pure barriers as a foundation, Kenjaku created a bon barrier to host the Culling Game.

29. #29Domainselective

Keys: Domain · Secondary: Countermeasure, Anti, Counter

Anti-Domain Techniques are countermeasures designed to withstand the can't-miss attack of opposing domain expansions. They are mainly designed for those who cannot expand their own domain for any reason.

30. #30Secret Artsselective

Keys: Secret Arts, Secret Anti-Domain Technique

Secret Arts are unique anti-domain techniques passed down in the Big Three Sorcerer Families. Having existed for millennia, the Big Three Families have accumulated many secret skills for dealing with cursed spirits and curse users.

31. #31Esoteric Technique: Hollow Wicker Basketselective

Keys: Esoteric Technique: Hollow Wicker Basket

The predecessor to simple domain that erects a spherical barrier that takes the appearance of a woven basket surrounding the caster. The technique neutralizes an expanded domain's barrier to nullify its can't-miss attack.

32. #32New Shadow Style: Simple Domainselective

Keys: New Shadow Style: Simple Domain

Developed by Sadatsuna Ashiya during the Heian Era as the "domain for the weak". It expands a small, domain on the ground around the user to open a hole in an opposing domain, neutralizing the can't-miss attack by targeting the domain's barrier.

33. #33Secret Art: Falling Blossom Emotionselective

Keys: Secret Art: Falling Blossom Emotion

A secret domain countermeasure passed down in the Big Three Sorcerer Families. Rather than expanding a domain, Falling Blossom Emotion counterattacks with cursed energy the moment a domain's can't-miss attack makes contact.

34. #34Domain Amplificationselective

    Keys: Domain Amplification

Envelops the user's body in a thin veil of their domain and automatically nullifies any cursed technique it comes into contact with. A caster cannot use domain amplification and their innate technique at the same time.

35. #35Shikigami Jutsuselective

    Keys: Shikigami Jutsu

Shikigami Jutsu conjures shikigami to aid the user using a variety of methods. Simple shikigami can be summoned by any capable sorcerer, but some innate techniques revolve around a summoning shikigami as well, such is the case with Moon Dregs.

36. #36Cursed Spiritselective

Keys: Evil Spirit, Cursed Spirit, Ghost

Cursed Spirits, are a race of spiritual beings invisible to humans, incarnated from the cursed energy that leaks out of humans over time due to their negative emotions. Cursed spirits haunt and bring harm to humanity and are consequently the primary targets of jujutsu sorcerers and their exorcist work.

37. #37Cursed Spirit Creationselective

Keys: Cursed Spirit · Secondary: Formation, Creation, Birth

Curses are created when cursed energy leaks from (non-sorcerer) humans as a result of their harboring of negative emotions. Cursed energy thus gathers in one spot, bulding up like sediment until a cursed spirit takes form.

Populated locations such as schools and hospitals are hotspots for bearing curses because many negative emotions are associated with memories of those places. This same concept applies humanity's collective fear and hatred. An image of fear shared by the masses can create a powerful curse even if the subject is not real, such as famous monsters or ghosts. It is the negative emotions that humanity directed at this image that causes it to manifest as a curse.

Longstanding negative feelings, such as humanity's collective relationship with plagues and natural disasters, results in a collection of cursed energy so massive the cursed spirits manifested from them have a consciousness related to those feelings. For example, humanity's fear and treatment of forests has directly resulted in Hanami, a very intelligent special grade cursed spirit who wants to free the earth of its humans in order to protect the forests and trees from them. Mahito is an exceptionally strong and intelligent curse that challenges the concept of the human soul itself because he was born from the hatred humans feel toward one another.

38. #38Cursed Spirit Biologyselective

Keys: Cursed Spirit · Secondary: Biology, Physiology, Trait

Cursed spirits bodies are entirely made up of cursed energy. Their metaphysical existence makes it impossible for non-sorcerers to perceive or touch them. Living humans who have been cursed can only tell they have strange symptoms without realizing a cursed spirit behind it. Non-sorcerers whose lives are put in danger by a curse may gain the ability to see it in that life or death situation.

Curses come in all kinds of grotesque shapes and sizes. They tend to linger around their point of origin and instinctively curse humans. Other than that, a curse's habits vary a great deal from spirit to spirit. Curses are most stable while possessing an item, and some curses can possess inanimate objects to become cursed corpses.

39. #39Vengeful Spiritselective

Keys: Vengeful Spirit, Vengeful Cursed Spirit

Vengeful Cursed Spirit are cursed spirits created when humans become a curse after death. Those whose deaths are cursed have the possibility of having their spirit corrupted and transformed into a vengeful spirit. Sorcerers have an increased chance of turning into a curse after death, but this can be prevented by killing them with jujutsu. Rika Orimoto was transformed into a vengeful curse after Yuta Okkotsu couldn't accept her death and cursed it on accident. Yuta's ancestor, Michizane Sugawara, became one of the Big Three Vengeful Spirits, ancestors of the Big Three Sorcerer Families.

40. #40Special Grade Cursed Spiritselective

Keys: Curse, Monster, Cursed Spirit, Spirit · Secondary: Special Grade

Special grade cursed spirits with high intelligence tend to be bipedal creatures with shapes comparable to humans. They are capable of holding a normal conversation and working together as an organized group. Special grade curse spirits, all of whom possess great levels of cursed energy, can manipulate their cursed energy much more naturally than a sorcerer. Unlike sorcerers, strong curses can reinforce their bodies to heal wounds without using a reverse cursed technique. Finger Bearers, special grade curses born from Sukuna's fingers, can release their cursed energy with explosive force and utilize it as a weapon. Sukuna, a far more intelligent special grade, believes this to be an obsolete form of jujutsu compared to his cursed techniques, including Domain Expansion.

41. #41Exorcismselective

    Keys: Cursed Spirit Purification, Exorcism

With bodies composed of cursed energy, cursed spirits cannot be harmed by conventional means. They can be hit by a physical attack but it will deal no damage regardless of how powerful it is. The general rule of jujutsu is that a curse must be exorcised using another curse. This mean curses can only be exorcised using cursed energy. A fatal attack using cursed energy will cause the cursed spirit to disappear completely. This does not apply to curses who have been incarnated using a flesh and blood human vessel, such as the Cursed Womb: Death Paintings.

Curses that are too powerful to be destroyed must be sealed away using a constraint. Sukuna has continued to exist as twenty fingers classified as special grade cursed objects that can still attract cursed spirits and choose its own vessel. Sukuna's fingers had to be individually sealed with talisman to inhibit the damage they cause.

If a vengeful spirit that is cursing someone is too powerful to exorcise, millions of figurative knots of cursed energy must be slowly analyzed and undone one by one. The cursed can do so by learning to master channeling the cursed energy being used to curse them. This was believed to be Yuta and Rika's case, however, Yuta was actually the one who turned her into a vengeful cursed spirit. If the cursed severs the bond tying servant to master and the curse doesn't desire punishment, then the curse breaks. By going beyond the limits of Rika's power and promising himself in return, the curse was broken once Rika decided not to punish him.

42. #42Imaginary Vengeful Cursed Spiritselective

Keys: Mythological Cursed Spirit, Imaginary Vengeful Cursed Spirit

Imaginary Vengeful Cursed Spirit: A cursed spirit manifested from the cumulative fear of the masses. When many people share an image of fear, such as famous yokai or ghost stories like the Nine Tailed Fox, an Imaginary Vengeful Spirit can form. They are widely feared by sorcerers and classified as such to distinguish them from other curses. Sukuna, who was human over 2,000 years ago, is famous for the legend of the Imaginary Demon God with two faces and four arms. Suguru Geto, the curse manipulator, possessed two different Imaginary Vengeful Spirits: Kuchisake-Onna,a famous urban yokai legend, and Tamamo-no-Mae Incarnate, another figure in Japanese mythology.

43. #43Disease Cursed Spiritselective

    Keys: Disease Cursed Spirit

Disease Cursed Spirit: Plague and general sickness are concepts constantly cursed by humanity, resulting in powerful disease curses. These type of cursed spirits can use cursed techniques to infect humans with their respective diseases to curse and kill them. Pseudo-Geto possessed a special grade disease curse: the Smallpox Deity. It could use Domain Expansion with conditions that trapped its target in a coffin, buried them under a gravestone, and infected them with smallpox after a three-second count.

44. #44Cursed Spirit Powersselective

Keys: Cursed Spirit · Secondary: Ability, Technique, Power, Abilities, Strength, Prowess, Skill

As jujutsu is essentially the manipulation of the energy which curses embody, it's only natural for them to be able to use it. Like sorcerers, they are capable of using a multitude of curse related abilities, most of which are cursed techniques unique to the specific curse.

Weaker spirits use their presence to curse humans or attack them with their metaphysical features (i.e. teeth, claws). They often act on animalistic instinct to attack in packs but can be frightened by superior cursed energy. Phasing through solid surfaces is an ability that can only be used by low-grade cursed spirits.

The more powerful curses possess immense levels of cursed energy and uncanny cursed techniques. In some cases special grade cursed spirits can even produce their own domains. In the current age, curses far outweigh sorcerers in terms of strength. There are over sixteen different special grade curse spirits and only four special grade sorcerers, two of whom aren't even committed to fighting curses. If it were not for Satoru Gojo, it is likely curses would completely overtake humanity, at least in Japan.

45. #45Cursed Wombselective

    Keys: Cursed Womb

A Cursed Womb is the uterus-like evolutionary stage of an immature curse spirit. They are capable of producing powerful fully fledged curses after the metamorphosis is complete. Cursed wombs that grow and change shape are expected to produce special grade cursed spirits. A cursed womb can be created from when a cursed spirit eats and swallows one of Sukuna's fingers.

After enough time has passed, a cursed womb can produce a special grade cursed spirit called a Finger Bearer.

In some instances, cursed wombs can be sentient beings who resemble cursed spirits. They're capable of utilizing jujutsu but are much less dangerous than a fully-fledged cursed. In order to reach an evolved state, a traumatic stimulus is required to induce metamorphosis. This includes suffering emotional trauma or being nearly exorcised. When their metamorphosis is complete, their appearance changes completely and they evolve into a much more powerful state of being.

46. #46Death Painting Wombselective

    Keys: Death Painting Womb

A Cursed Womb: Death Painting is a type of cursed womb that is half-human, half cursed spirit. It is unclear how they are formed precisely. In the Meiji era, the jujutsu sorcerer Noritoshi Kamo experimented on the nine aborted fetuses from a woman who could give birth to children who were half curse. The first three—Choso, Eso, and Kechizu — were strong enough to become special grade curses.

47. #47Shikigamiselective

    Keys: Shikigami

Shikigami are monstrous creatures resembling cursed spirits that are conjured to serve as familiars for jujutsu users. Sorcerers who summon shikigami to aid them in battle are known as Shikigami Users. Shikigami are age-old creations that gave Onmyodo its origins. These familiar monsters cannot be seen by non-sorcerers and are tamed to be subordinate to their master. They are summoned using mediums like talismans and other methods through a variety of sorcery techniques. Shikigami conjuration is considered to be a type of cursed technique. Like barrier techniques, sorcerers who do not possess enough intrinsic talent for their own innate technique can summon simple shikigami.

Shikigami themselves are familiars incarnated by their summoner's cursed energy. Summoning shikigami normally requires an intermediary, such as a common talisman. They are generally used to carry out an order in accordance with their conjurer's instructions, and they disappear when the user's technique is released or they are incapacitated.

48. #48Cursed Corpseselective

    Keys: Cursed Corpse

A Cursed Corpse is a nonliving object that has been endowed with a curse, allowing it to gain self-control. They can appear naturally as hostile creatures but are more often used as dolls and puppets for sorcerers. Cursed corpses are defined as inanimate objects possessed by a curse that is capable of standing on its own. These types of curses that appear naturally are hostile to humans. Artificial cursed corpses created by sorcerers have a core that acts as their heart, allowing them to act independently from their creator until the cursed energy used to fuel them runs out.

49. #49Cursed Objectselective

    Keys: Cursed Object

Cursed Objects are items with a dark history that contain cursed energy. They generally consist of the remnants of ancient sorcerers that can be incarnated into a new body if the cursed object is consumed by a compatible vessel.

50. #50Gradeselective

    Keys: Ranking, Grade

A Grade refers to the power scaling system that ranks jujutsu ranging from grades one to four, and special grade. It is used to categorize the strength of jujutsu sorcerers, cursed spirits, cursed objects and cursed tools. Jujutsu High assigns their sorcerer's grades to assess their skill level ascending from Grade 4 to Grade 1. Students generally start at Grade 4 upon joining the school, but this depends on experience.

Cursed spirits are ranked on a similar scale but not exact. The higher-ups can be particular when it comes to ranking cursed spirits. The distinct difference between a grade 2 and a semi-grade 1 curse is whether or not it is capable of using cursed techniques. Jujutsu sorcerers are expected to take on missions involving curses of the same level. A Grade 2 sorcerer should be able to defeat a Grade 2 curse because their skill level is closer to the strength of a Grade 1 curse.

Cursed tools are also categorized from grades 1 to 4 based on power and potency. The higher the grade, the greater advantage they provide in battle. All Special Grade cursed tools except for Playful Cloud are imbued with a cursed technique.

Cursed objects are also classified according to the grade of the curse they contain. After a cursed object used for incarnation, the incarnated individual has same grade as the cursed object.
