Shiala served Saren and accompanied him to Feros, where she encountered the Thorian. Saren tricked the Thorian into accepting Shiala in exchange for the Prothean Cipher, making her one with the ancient plant. Through this bond, she gained the Cipher and transferred it to Saren's mind. Abandoned by Saren, Shiala was left behind with the Thorian, who used her clones to attack Shepard's squad. After the Thorian's destruction, Shiala was freed and shared Saren's actions and the story of the Cipher with Shepard. If spared, Shiala dedicated herself to helping the colonists at Zhu's Hope.
