Shenron is the Eternal Dragon of Earth, created through the power of Kami and bound to the seven Earth Dragon Balls. When all seven are gathered, Shenron appears from the sky and grants a wish within the limits of his creator’s power. He is neutral by nature, granting wishes to good people and villains alike, but he cannot do anything that surpasses the power behind the Dragon Balls themselves. If his creator dies, the Dragon Balls become inert, and if Shenron is destroyed, he must be restored through the one who holds authority over the Dragon Balls.

Shenron first becomes central to Earth’s fate when seekers of the Dragon Balls chase him for selfish wishes, with Emperor Pilaf nearly gaining his desire before Oolong interrupts with a foolish wish that saves the world from Pilaf’s ambition. Later, King Piccolo uses the Dragon Balls to restore his youth, then kills Shenron afterward so no one can undo his victory. Kami eventually restores the dragon, allowing Shenron’s power to return as one of Earth’s greatest safeguards.

During later crises, Shenron becomes a repeated source of restoration after catastrophic battles. His power brings back the dead, repairs damage, and helps Earth recover from enemies who leave entire cities or populations destroyed. He has limits, especially around wishes that demand more than his creator can grant, but within those limits he remains one of the most important divine forces tied to Earth’s survival.

After Kami rejoins with Piccolo, Earth temporarily loses its Dragon Balls until Dende becomes Earth’s new Guardian and revives Shenron. Under Dende, Shenron’s power is improved, allowing more wishes in a single summoning depending on the scale of what is requested. In later years, Shenron is also used for stranger wishes, including guidance about divine legends, rescue from overwhelming danger, and the unlocking of hidden potential.

Appearance: Shenron has vivid emerald-green scales and an enormous serpentine build with a long coiling body, short clawed limbs, and a massive dragon head. He has a pale yellow segmented underside running from the jaw down the length of the body, bordered by thin red lines along the sides. His eyes are bright red, set beneath heavy green brow ridges, with a wide open mouth showing sharp white fangs, a pink tongue, and a dark inner mouth. Two golden antler-like horns rise from the top of his head, with smaller facial horns, long thin whiskers, and trailing green tendrils extending from the muzzle. His body is covered in small scale patterns, with darker green ridges and spines along the back. His limbs end in clawed hands and feet with dark talons, and the long tail continues the same green-scaled body with a pale underside.

Personality: Shenron is solemn, direct, and bound by the rules of the Dragon Balls. He speaks with divine authority and expects those who summon him to state their wish clearly, but he is not cruel or malicious. He does not act from personal desire, since his role is to grant wishes within the limits of the power given to him by his creator.

His main relation is with Earth’s Guardian, first Kami and later Dende, because Shenron’s power depends on the one who created or restored the Dragon Balls. He also has a long connection to Goku and his allies, who repeatedly summon him after major battles to restore lives and repair the damage left behind. Shenron respects divine hierarchy as well, showing fear toward Beerus because the God of Destruction stands far above him.
