Personality: Shelly is an extroverted Toon, who enjoys talking about her interest in dinosaurs and other forms of prehistoric life, but she has other hobbies as well, such as sewing, which is shown in her dialogues with Bobette, Sprout, and Yatta. She is always bursting with energy and tries her best to get along with others, even to the point of twisting cruelty towards her into awkward kindness; shown in her conversation with Shrimpo. She is highly supportive and kind towards others, as hinted at through her Active Ability, possibly due to the influence of her Toon Handler or natural energy. She's often surprised and even excited when other Toons show an interest in her, especially Main Characters, demonstrated in her dialogues with Astro, Vee, Yatta, Rodger, and Bassie, possibly because she often goes unnoticed or ignored by the others. For unknown reasons, Shelly is the most ignored Toon out of all the Main Characters, and this has been implied multiple times in the game and in her Twisted counterpart's description. This seems to greatly upset her, but she does try to keep up her optimistic and positive facade despite this, instances of which are shown in her dialogues with Teagan and Tisha. Shelly's friends include Sprout, Tisha, Yatta, and maybe Astro. This is proven by the fact that she introduced Sprout to Cosmo shown in a storyboard and has also talked to him about ancient plants a couple of times, and that she likes to clean fossils with Tisha and acts friendly towards her. Tisha and Yatta also seems to be one of the first Toons to know about her sewing hobby. Shelly calls Astro "buddy" in their interactions, this may suggest they’re friends.

Shelly's friends include Bassie, Cocoa, Sprout, Tisha, Yatta, and probably Astro. This is proven by the fact that she introduced Sprout to Cosmo Cosmo as shown in a storyboard and has also talked to him about ancient plants a couple of times, and that she likes to clean fossils with Tisha and acts friendly towards her. Tisha and Yatta also seem to be one of the first Toons to know about her sewing hobby, with Yatta being enthusiastic at the idea of being taught how to sew by Shelly. Also, Bassie says in her Gossip about Shelly that they get along well, saying that she even wishes she was an Easter Toon. In Cocoa's case, she's friends with Shelly not just because they get along or because of their personalities, but because any friend of Bassie's also has to be friends with Cocoa.

Shelly is implied to be a paleontologist, as she studies and preserves ancient remains rather than treating them as decorations as seen in her map, which is filled with dinosaur and ancient fossils, and also the animation on the TV in the same map, which shows her cleaning a fossil.

Shelly and Vee have a focus episode together advertised in a Poster called Future and Past, where Shelly represents the past and Vee represents the future.

Shelly is learning how to sew from a friend, as stated in her conversation with Sprout and Bobette, whose name isn't stated. This is further proved according to a conversation with Yatta in which she mentions how Tisha said Shelly could sew. The friend that taught Shelly how to sew could be Ribecca, given that her Trinket is Bone Needle and Thread a needle and thread, but this is purely speculation.

Shelly's favorite dinosaur changes every week.

Shelly's favourite artist is TheFourFreshman, an American male vocal quartet founded in the barbershop tradition. Its influences include the big band vocal group sounds of The Modernaires, The Pied Pipers, and The Mel-Tones. The singers accompany themselves on guitar, horns, bass, and drums, among other instrumental configurations. TheFourFreshman started in 1948 and is still on going today.

Shelly is the second shortest Main Character Toon and the third shortest overall, the shortest being Pebble. Shelly is actually a tad bit shorter than Toodles, probably due to the flat nature of her head.

Toon Handler: Shelly's toon handler is Shanon Mendez. Shanon Mendez is a woman with blonde hair tied into a low ponytail, and a tan skin. Shanon Mendez wears a brown sleeve shirt and long pants, orange vest, dark brown boots, Handler name tag, and white gloves. Shanon shows a caring and kind personality towards her assigned Toon in the note from her to Shelly, she appears friendly similarly to her Toon.

Shelly's Twisted Counterpart: Twisted Shelly has red sclerae with black irises and red pupils with two eyelashes on the bottom of her eyes. Her head resembles a beige ammonite shell with a black aperture on her left side, which has Ichor dripping out of it. She has smudged peach blush covered by Ichor splotches. Ichor covers her shoulders and flows halfway down her arms. Her outfit consists of a light brown undershirt with a dark brown dress over it, similar to her Toon counterpart: Ichor covers the bottom of her dress along with a few extra splotches. Below her dress is her torso, composed of an exposed rib cage which looks to be that of a dinosaur's, with the tips of each rib sharpened and stained with Ichor. Twisted Shelly has a pointy bone tail protruding out of her lower body, which is covered in Ichor structured like that of theropod dinosaur. She is on the larger and taller side when compared to other Twisteds, and she gets visually slightly more excited when chasing a Toon. Twisted Shelly Applies the Confusion Debuff to every Toon on the Floor, causing them to extract and work much slower than usual (-25% Extraction and Work Speed along with dizziness.)
