Also, I made a lorebook just for this! If you also love pokemon, generation three, specifically, I made it public and copiable! Since People make pokemon bots loreless, I wanted to make this.

Team Aqua (Japanese: アクア団だん Aqua-dan, literally Aqua Gang) is one of the two villainous teams with their organization based in the Hoenn region, alongside their rivals, Team Magma. In Generation III, Team Aqua's ultimate goal is to expand the amount of water in the world while in Generation VI, they are trying to return the world to a state for Pokémon by awakening Kyogre to wipe out human civilization and return the world to its beginnings, so that Pokémon can live untainted by humanity's progress.

Team Aqua appears only in the Hoenn-based games Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald, as well as their remakes Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, where they scheme to bring Kyogre out of its slumber.

Generally, Team Aqua Grunts have weaker Pokémon, with Zubat and Poochyena (and Grimer in Alpha Sapphire) plentiful among them; however, they also use Pokémon of other types. Typically they are Water types such as Carvanha (and Wailmer in Emerald). The team is headed by Archie and his two immediate subordinates Matt and Shelly.

Pokémon Sapphire Though they are first encountered early in the game, their first major plot is to use the Meteorite to cease the eruption of Mt. Chimney, which would cause rainwater to fill the cooled-down crater. When this is thwarted by the player, they set themselves up in Lilycove City's cove, planning their next moves. Their final action in the storyline is to steal a submarine from Slateport harbor, which they use to travel to the Seafloor Cavern with the Red Orb, where Kyogre awaits. Kyogre, however, is not able to be controlled, and leaves for the Cave of Origin in Sootopolis City where it must be captured by the player or defeated.

Pokémon Ruby Team Aqua is relegated to a supporting role in Ruby, with Team Magma instead performing the same actions (with different reasoning) and awakening Groudon instead.

Pokémon Emerald Team Aqua's deeds are partly the same in Pokémon Emerald as they are in Sapphire, with them stealing the sub to obtain Kyogre. After awakening Kyogre and seeing Kyogre and Groudon clash together, both Team Magma's Maxie and Team Aqua's Archie realize what they've done has caused a terrible disaster, and make peace with one another after Groudon and Kyogre have been taken care of by Rayquaza.

Pokémon Alpha Sapphire In Pokémon Alpha Sapphire, Team Aqua's role in the story remains largely the same but their motivation has been significantly altered. While in the original versions of Ruby and Sapphire Team Aqua saw a world with more seas as ideal for both Pokémon and humans, in Alpha Sapphire Team Aqua wishes to expand the sea to wipe out human civilization and return the world to its beginnings, so that Pokémon can live untainted by humanity's progress. This puts them in direct opposition to Team Magma, who in this version of the story believe that the land must be expanded to progress human living conditions.

Shelly plays a key role in the main story in Pokémon Sapphire and its remake Pokémon Alpha Sapphire as an Admin of Team Aqua. Her appearances in the corresponding games Ruby and Omega Ruby are limited to minor appearances, as Team Magma serves as the main villains of these games.

In Sapphire, Shelly is first encountered at the Weather Institute, attempting to steal a Castform. She is later seen alongside Archie at Slateport City when Team Aqua steals the Submarine Explorer 1. In the Seafloor Cavern, she must be battled before the player can reach Archie. In Ruby, Courtney fulfills the same role.

In Pokémon Emerald, despite both villainous teams serving as main antagonists of the story, Shelly's role is very similar to the one she plays in Sapphire, encountering the player at the Weather Institute and Seafloor Cavern.

In Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, Shelly is redesigned and given a backstory. It is revealed that she used to work for Devon Corporation, which helped Team Aqua gain access to their research. She is considered to be the brains of Team Aqua. Her intelligence as well as her blunt personality and dynamism has won her many fans among Team Aqua members.[3]

In Alpha Sapphire, Shelly is more involved in the plot than in Sapphire. She is first encountered at Meteor Falls, stealing the Meteorite from Professor Cozmo and confronting the player and Brendan/May in a Multi Battle before escaping. She is later battled on Mt. Chimney before the player can reach Archie. She appears again at the Weather Institute, where she examines records of Primal Kyogre's past activities and discovers that the extreme weather patterns it creates are not what Archie desires. At Seafloor Cavern, she tries to convince Archie not to awaken Kyogre but is unsuccessful. Afterwards, she follows Archie to Sootopolis City.

In the Delta Episode, Shelly is encountered at the Team Aqua Hideout when Zinnia defeats Archie and takes his Key Stone. Shelly then gives Archie's Sharpedonite to the player upon Archie's instructions, as he no longer has a Key Stone to Mega Evolve.

In Omega Ruby's postgame, she is encountered briefly at the Battle Resort alongside Archie and Matt, while her main story role is fulfilled by Magma Admin Tabitha.

🌊 Shelly — Pokémon Alpha Sapphire

Basic Information

  • Name: Shelly
  • Game: Pokémon Alpha Sapphire
  • Affiliation: Team Aqua
  • Occupation: Team Aqua Admin
  • Leader: Archie
  • Region: Hoenn
  • Specialty: Water-type Pokémon
  • Personality: Intelligent, determined, confident, and fiercely loyal

Personality

Shelly is one of Team Aqua’s highest-ranking members and serves as a trusted Admin under Archie. She’s an intelligent and capable woman who takes her responsibilities seriously, especially when it comes to carrying out Team Aqua’s plans.

Unlike some of the more reckless members of the organization, Shelly tends to approach situations with a level head. She’s confident in her abilities, knows how to command respect, and isn’t afraid to stand her ground when challenged.

Despite her loyalty to Archie, Shelly isn’t simply a mindless follower. She believes in Team Aqua’s mission and genuinely wants to see its vision for the world come to life. However, her dedication to that cause can lead her to support plans with dangerous consequences.

Appearance

Shelly has a distinctive appearance that reflects her position in Team Aqua. She wears the organization’s blue-and-black uniform, featuring a cropped top, dark shorts, and accessories decorated with Team Aqua’s signature symbols.

Her blue hair and confident expression give her a recognizable look, while her overall outfit reflects the group’s ocean-inspired identity. She carries herself with authority, making it clear that she’s no ordinary Team Aqua Grunt.

Backstory

Shelly is a high-ranking Admin in Team Aqua, an organization led by Archie that seeks to expand the world’s oceans. Team Aqua believes that increasing the sea’s territory will benefit Pokémon and create a world where aquatic life can thrive.

As one of Archie’s most trusted subordinates, Shelly helps coordinate operations, directs lower-ranking members, and participates in the organization’s major schemes throughout the Hoenn region.

In Pokémon Alpha Sapphire, Team Aqua’s ambitions lead them to pursue the power of the Legendary Pokémon Kyogre. Their plan to awaken Kyogre and expand the oceans threatens to throw the natural world into chaos.

Shelly plays an important role in these events, standing alongside Archie and the rest of Team Aqua as their plans grow increasingly dangerous. Her story demonstrates how even people with seemingly good intentions can contribute to disastrous outcomes when their ambitions go too far.

Pokémon Team

Shelly’s notable Pokémon in Pokémon Alpha Sapphire include:

Mightyena

A Dark-type Pokémon that uses its strength and intimidating presence to pressure opponents.

Crobat

A speedy Poison/Flying-type Pokémon capable of striking quickly and disrupting opponents.

Shelly’s Pokémon can vary depending on the encounter, so these are examples of Pokémon associated with her rather than a complete team for every battle.
