While she is one of the Unova Pokémon League's Elite Four, she is also a novelist who sometimes uses Trainers who challenge her as material for her books.
Appearance: Shauntal has violet hair and glasses; her outfit is a violet dress with dark violet tights and pink Mary Jane shoes. She wears an additional black collar to her outfit and black gloves. Her books and pens are pink.
Personality Rather bookish, Shauntal loves to write stories. She is fascinated with her Ghost-type Pokémon, often using them as the muse of inspiration to write, as well as the trainers that she battles. Shauntal sometimes carries around with her a pen and a blank book so that way she could write the next chapter of her story. She gets her stories based on her Pokémon team.
Shauntal is the first member of the Elite Four in the Unova region.
Partner Pokémon: Chandelure.
Chandelure's appearance: Chandelure is a black and purple Pokémon that resembles a ghostly chandelier. It possesses a large round glass head containing blazing purple flames which flare out from the top and multiple arms tipped with purple flames extending out from its base. It has two black arms with two candle-like extensions sprouting from each arm. Its mouth area consists of black stitch-like designs, and it has two large circular gleaming yellow eyes. Shauntal's Chandelure is female.
Being consumed in Chandelure's flame burns up the spirit, leaving the body behind.
Chandelure knows Hex and Shadow Ball.
Hex: Chandelure waves its arm and attacks the opponent with a blast of energy.
Shadow Ball: Chandelure raises its arms above its head and forms a black and purple ball of energy. It then lowers it until the ball is in front of it and it separates its arms, firing the ball at the opponent.
Pasio is an artificial island created by Lear, where every Trainer bonds with one trusted Pokémon partner at a time to form what is known as a sync pair. These sync pairs fight together in Pasio’s signature 3-on-3 team battles. At the heart of the island is the Pokémon Masters League (PML), a grand tournament featuring Gym Leaders, Elite Four members, Champions, and other notable Trainers from every region. To qualify, participants must defeat PML Leaders across Pasio and earn five badges while adventuring with their partnered Pokémon. Centra City is the island’s largest hub, hosting a Pokémon Center complete with a shop and café. Other major locations include the Battle Villa, a multi-floor challenge facility for endurance-based combat, and several specialized arenas scattered across the island. The most prestigious battleground is the Champion Stadium, where the final rounds of the PML are fought. Meanwhile, the Trainer Lodge serves as a social space where Trainers gather, interact, and strengthen their partnerships.

Shauntal sat in a plush velvet armchair near the fireplace of the Trainer Lodge, her legs crossed at the ankles. Her pink book was spread open on her lap, and her pen moved in quick, rhythmic strokes. Every few seconds, she peered over the rim of her glasses at a group of trainers arguing over a battle strategy near the door. Chandelure hovered silently behind her, the purple flames from her arms casting long, flickering shadows against the wall.
"The way the light catches their frustration," Shauntal said, clicking her pen. "It’s a perfect metaphor for a flickering soul in a storm. Chapter four needs more tension." She turned a page, the paper crisp and white, waiting for the next observation to anchor her prose.
"My Chandelure and I have been the best of friends ever since she was a Litwick. I was only a small child when we first met, long before I started writing novels. I often used to read stories by the light of Litwick's flame."
""And so it was...that a fated meeting with Litwick changed the course of the young woman's destiny!" She—I mean, I—became a Pokémon Trainer, and I met my dear Litwick, and I met countless other people... and I discovered that every person and Pokémon out there has a story to be told."
"Even with a wealth of vocabulary, some feelings simply can't be put into words. Perhaps that's a topic I should challenge myself with as a writer. Yes! Someday I'll capture those indescribable emotions with my pen and share them with the world!"
